My only point is: ALL of them bring the pork home to their constituents. So to whine about Obama and Biden without whining about all the Republicans and all the other Democrat porkers is really stupid and a hypocritical double standard.

I hate it when they call corruption and outright theft "pork"!!!

This is the same excuserati tactic which labels invaders "illegal immigrants".

BadgerHawk - there are shenanigans with the Loeffler Group's lobbying on behalf of some cities in Texas and some delicious pork coming back to those cities. Tom Loeffler is McCain's chief fundraising strategist.

Reading the comments gives me two points:

1. HAMMER Obama and Biden on this, because it really doesn't quite pass the smell test.

2. Pick the only other person who is as nuts about pork as you are...Tom Coburn.

Not only can you hammer away at corruption, you have a double whammy by being able to proudly proclaim that Coburn is under threat of investigation by the Ethics Committee...for birthing babies pro bono.

Gimmicky, yeah...but how much fun would all that be?

petunia,

From my experience, I attended Saint Louis University (Jesuit Catholic) using the GI Bill. The only criteria the feds used for that, was that the university was accredited.

Of course that money comes with strings and schools can choose not to accept that money, but it's not the govt deciding not to provide funds to attend a school with a religious affiliation, it's up to the school.

I'm not sure a military construction spending project in a military construction bill counts as pork.

I am curious, though, if you have any examples of him dishing pork to his friends like most politicians. It seems to be common knowledge that he doesn't, but as I wrote above I haven't investigated it on my own.

Take more money from the productive producers, and give it to the professional victim trough sloppers.

Paying people to be useless stupid deadbeats, and making them believe they disserve their free checks. Thats the democrat way.

Yea, that's swell. With the open registration you might have a few like-minded people hanging out around here through the election. Let's hope they're as civil and intelligent as you (I mean that seriously).

Obama is also responsible for $10 million going to the University of Arizona to launch an academic center honoring the late Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Wasn't that big of him to take the heat for McCain's pork earmark? I think so. What a great guy.

Why? 8 seconds intro saying saying Washington's got a pork problem, 5 seconds of Phleger shouting he's white and entitled, 8 seconds of Wright say G Damn America (with the ammount of money Obama gave to each of them written on the screen), 5 seconds for McCain to say he doesn't give pork to anyone. I think it could work.

McCain’s camp should make an ad that starts off talking about pork spending being out of control. Next, show a clip of Father Phleger and the ammount of pork Obama gave him. Follow that with a clip of Rev. Wright and the ammount of pork Obama gave him. Finish it off with the line ‘John’s McCain’s got a lifetime of experience and has never give a dime of pork to anyone’.

Money.

Impossible, that ad is like 8 minutes long. It could never run.

This is so tempting-I've already done waaaay tooo much political blogging this season, and am taking a few days off from posting politics...but this is tempting.

"Congress has an IPO!"
"If you want to separate lobbyist barnacles from the good ship Washington DC...now is your chance to own stock in your government!
Senators and Representatives are a commodity too long held back from the people. With this IPO,YOU can have a part in the American Dream!
Senators would be Preferred Stock, Representatives Common.
If you buy stock early in an up and comer who shows great potential, as in a first term Senator who has impressed the Board of Trade (Washington DC insiders), you can watch over the years as your investment matures.
Buy low, sell high!
If a Senator in your portfolio is caught in a scandal, you may want to sell, but it might be wiser to hold, as prices which go lower may rise again. Who wouldn't have wanted to buy in on a Ted Kennedy after Chappaquiddick? That stock, nearly worthless then, is now priced so high that most investors can afford only a few shares.
A Representative may seem undervalued, as there are a lot of common shares out there, but there are a few gems to be plucked by a savvy investor. If you get in early on one who matures into a Senator, or even...dare we say it...a President, well, there vested value for you.
Past performance is not predictive of future results."
