Looking at the “Obamacropolis” and thinking Barry hasn’t said to anyone to stop calling him the one. I’ll bet Zeus is pretty pissed about that…I’m expecting a lightning bolt may be incinerating the “One” halfway through the first set of “errr, ahhhh, ummmmm, hope, errr, ahhhm, emmm, change, errr, ahhh, ummm”…………

Everyone is missing the real meaning behind this. It’s not a temple, it’s an attempt to recreate the facade of the Lincoln Memorial, therby tying it into the anniversary of the “I Have A Dream” speech. Which is even more sinister, since he’s now equating himself with MLK.

I really don’t think painting him as a celebrity or as some sort of elite will really fly this election. He seems to be a self starter rather than someone who merely inherited success or came across his position by accident. There are genuine weak points to Obama but Republicans would do better if they concentrated on their own basics rather than going negative.

The temple was not finished until the Emperor Hadrian completed in 131 AD, seven hundred years later. There were other attempts to continue the building. The Classical Greeks (487-379)left it unfinished because they believed it was too big and symbolized the arrogance of people who believed they were equal to the Gods.

On the flight from Billings, Montana, to Denver, Colo., Obama senior strategist David Axelrod responded to the criticism.
“I know that Sen McCain and his people have been shooting barbs about the ‘opulence’ of our convention from the mountaintop at Sedona at the McCain estate. I don’t think it warrants a response.”

This is typical of the type of response one could expect from some like Axelrod, but then again, he being such a good little Chicago Democratic Machine creature, a response like this is of little surprise.

Well, aside from the fact that he was the incumbent at the time (and, perhaps, a little more entitled to the "presidential" imagery), there were actually only 2 columns at the 2004 speech.....the other columns are actually on large video screens. GWB's speech is on video here. If you watch up until about 35 seconds, you get some very good views of the backdrop images changing. Using column elements on video screens as a static background for the actual speech, and 2 prop rental columns in the background is vastly different to building your own 30 columned temple.

There is a small but substantial difference... Those columns are just an architectural detail. Unlike with Mr. Obama, they are not meant to impute the presence of a temple. On the other hand, in Denver Mr. Obama has built a temple "prop" ; like something out of a movie set-it is clearly a greek(or Roman) temple... I guess Gaius Barrius is going to descend from Mount Obamus and bestow his wisdom to us plebs... Oh Brother

Class envy is divisive and defeats any image of the one who claims he is a uniter. I see the cries of racism as divisive and not post racial as claimed by the candidate. The “opposition” offers fear while the one offers hope? Obama scares me far more than someone who recognizes the dangers in the world and talks of plans to defend our nation. The uniter wants to pit the poor against the wealthy and the black against the white and that is not a win for America.
