Democratic convention, night two: Special, special lady to pretend she gives a rip about electing Barack Obama; Update: Hillary video added

We’re opening the thread now but things won’t start hopping for another hour. Mark Warner goes on after 9 p.m. ET followed by America’s most fabulously powerful victim of sexism phoning in her good-soldier routine around 10:15. Bob Casey will speak a few minutes before Warner and doubtless will be tasked with pandering to pro-life voters, so tune in for that as an intro to nominating a guy on Thursday who couldn’t bring himself to vote for protecting fetuses born alive during abortions. Warner’s speech could be fun too, as he was enlisted for the keynote for his bipartisan appeal and is now being badgered to attack by dopey Democrats convinced that no matter how hard they are on McCain, it’s not hard enough.
Obama-NBC reported a little while ago that The One has seen Hillary’s speech and is “very pleased” with it, which should come as good news to all those fundraisers of hers who aren’t lifting a finger to help him. Quote:
More broadly, a consensus appears to have emerged among many major Clinton donors that the Obama campaign did not do enough to enlist their support, according to interviews with more than a half-dozen Clinton fundraisers.
“I’ve had more contact from the McCain campaign since the nomination than from the Obama campaign,” said Calvin Fayard, a New Orleans lawyer, major Clinton fund-raiser and longtime Democratic donor who is not in Denver this week.
Mr. Fayard said he is now considering supporting Senator John McCain, the presumed Republican nominee, citing what he perceived as Mr. Obama’s inexperience.
Even sweeter than Hillary Happy Hour! If you missed McCain’s PUMA pander on Leno last night, enjoy that while you wait. Ed and I will be liveblogging, with video to follow of the inevitable “I do not approve that message” joke unless I simply can’t bear to watch it a second time during editing. Exit question: Is this the right’s last dance with our bete noire? I told a friend the other night that conservative America is totally co-dependent with the Clintons at this point: Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em. Maybe she’ll be back in 2012 or 2016 — or maybe she’ll up and quit the Senate and run for feminist Pope. Tonight could be the end. I miss her already. Already.
Update: Here’s the video of the latest episode in this contemptible soap opera, in which one all-star fraud defends another. I didn’t even watch.

“Those Dems are so stupid – Hillary is a harpy, Obama is an empty suit, etc… who would want to watch her talk about herself for 20 minutes after their failure of a convention?”
*Clings to every word of the Clinton speech*
*Posts about it on the Internet*
*Is 300 lbs.*

Why, it does indeed!
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama”
“No way, no how, NObama!

I watched her speech, and while it wasn’t what I expected, I still liked it. She never said anything substantive about Obama, but talked at length about her campaign (and more importantly to me, the woman’s sufferage movement). Token lip service to an empty suit.
I cannot wait until 2012… although I have a feeling that campaign is going to start November 6th, 2008.

Words, just words.

Great speech Hillary. 2012 is your Year. When she wins we all win.
kanda on August 27, 2008 at 9:20 AM
McCain will win this election and by a wide margin.
Those of you who still think Hillary will win in 2012 are delusional. She will NEVER be president. Give it up. In 2012 the Republicans have excellent conservative candidates to run against her.
Conservatism trumps liberalism EVERYTIME!!!!

Great speech by Hillary.
Wrong on all accounts about McCain, but still a great speech.

BTW
anyone else see the smugness of Bill combined with the “I’m taking a crap in my seat” face of Michelle?
best convention evah
YellowDawg on August 27, 2008 at 9:44 AM
Maybe they ought to cut the convention short – Obama seems to lose ground every day it continues.
Vashta.Nerada on August 27, 2008 at 9:44 AM
Thats cuz the rest of the country is thinking “damn we gotta deal with these clowns AND Obama? Hell no”
YellowDawg on August 27, 2008 at 9:47 AM
I think funky chicken nailed it upthread. Michelle is sour because Hillary declined a VP offer from Barry, and michelle knows he can’t win without her as VP. So, as Her Majesty was giving the speech, Michelle was watching her one and only shot at First Lady slipping away. The hard feelings will fester and solidify as he continues to sink. Howard Dean’s ineptness is totally exposed and Bill Richardson has night sweats, dreading 2012. Good times ahead.
a capella on August 27, 2008 at 10:09 AM
Hmmm…didn’t they say the same thing about Richard Milhouse Nixon in 1960?
kanda on August 27, 2008 at 10:14 AM
Hillary is a PROUD AMERICAN.
Michelle is NOT!
OUCH!
DfDeportation on August 27, 2008 at 10:15 AM
I noticed of all the things she is proud to be she never said “Proud Wife”

WHERE IS THE POLL???? Hillary vs. McCain, Hillary vs. McCain vs. Obama
Where is the clamor…that maybe she should run 3rp party.
The media was baiting McDrillin to go 3rd party in 2000 and 2004!
Dpet on August 27, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Hillary can forget about 2012. Division works both ways, and if Obama loses there will be lots of Democrats who will remember when Billary could have put their shoulders hard to wheel for the party and did not. Lord, and Bill will be four years loopier and looser… not a pretty thought.

SPECIAL LADY????……..more like Nurse Ratched!

The PUMAs loved her speech last night, but they’re still pissed off with the treatment they’re getting. They want to vote, on the floor, for Hillary. If they don’t get that, they’re not voting for Obama, ever. I listened to the PUMAPAC’s internet radio broadcast last night, and it was full of hilarity.
Obama’s people are doing everything they can to prevent the role call for Hillary happening due to Obama’s poll numbers dropping. What were to happen if they did the role call and Hillary came out on top because people changed their mind with buyer’s remorse. Disasterous.
But it’s also disasterous to NOT let it happen because it is ticking off the women populus.

Real question folks…
With Florida delegates being fully seated, how far behind IS Hillary really?
This is truly a selected not elected type of convention, but it could turn on a dime if the Super Dels decide so.
Romeo13 on August 27, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Exactly. I honestly believe if they did a full role call, Hillary might actually come out on top. And that’s what all the PUMA people think. But the evil DNC is forcing this sham, and selection upon them.
And it’s so amusing!
Enoxo on August 27, 2008 at 12:41 PM
I watched a bit of the big speech last night and I must say that is interesting to see some Hillary backers unfurling the giant “Hillary 2012″ banner, but the best part by far was when she told Sen. Obama to “Kiss my royal ass” and dropped tro to revel “McCain 2008/Hillary 2012″ tattooed across her cheeks.
On second though… I’m a bit queasy just thinking about it…
