Democratic convention, night two: Special, special lady to pretend she gives a rip about electing Barack Obama; Update: Hillary video added

posted at 8:26 pm on August 26, 2008 by Allahpundit

We’re opening the thread now but things won’t start hopping for another hour. Mark Warner goes on after 9 p.m. ET followed by America’s most fabulously powerful victim of sexism phoning in her good-soldier routine around 10:15. Bob Casey will speak a few minutes before Warner and doubtless will be tasked with pandering to pro-life voters, so tune in for that as an intro to nominating a guy on Thursday who couldn’t bring himself to vote for protecting fetuses born alive during abortions. Warner’s speech could be fun too, as he was enlisted for the keynote for his bipartisan appeal and is now being badgered to attack by dopey Democrats convinced that no matter how hard they are on McCain, it’s not hard enough.

Obama-NBC reported a little while ago that The One has seen Hillary’s speech and is “very pleased” with it, which should come as good news to all those fundraisers of hers who aren’t lifting a finger to help him. Quote:

More broadly, a consensus appears to have emerged among many major Clinton donors that the Obama campaign did not do enough to enlist their support, according to interviews with more than a half-dozen Clinton fundraisers.

“I’ve had more contact from the McCain campaign since the nomination than from the Obama campaign,” said Calvin Fayard, a New Orleans lawyer, major Clinton fund-raiser and longtime Democratic donor who is not in Denver this week.

Mr. Fayard said he is now considering supporting Senator John McCain, the presumed Republican nominee, citing what he perceived as Mr. Obama’s inexperience.

Even sweeter than Hillary Happy Hour! If you missed McCain’s PUMA pander on Leno last night, enjoy that while you wait. Ed and I will be liveblogging, with video to follow of the inevitable “I do not approve that message” joke unless I simply can’t bear to watch it a second time during editing. Exit question: Is this the right’s last dance with our bete noire? I told a friend the other night that conservative America is totally co-dependent with the Clintons at this point: Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em. Maybe she’ll be back in 2012 or 2016 — or maybe she’ll up and quit the Senate and run for feminist Pope. Tonight could be the end. I miss her already. Already.

Update: Here’s the video of the latest episode in this contemptible soap opera, in which one all-star fraud defends another. I didn’t even watch.

Yawn.

Right_of_Attila on August 26, 2008 at 8:28 PM

This will be a sample of what a Hillary presidency would sound like. Shreiks, cackles and forced smiles.

What color pantsuit will she wear?
Ecru.

carbon_footprint on August 26, 2008 at 8:29 PM

This ought to be good, but I have a feeling the Hildabeast will be conciliatory.

VOTER SUPPRESSION AT THE DNC CONVENTION!

OBAMA WANTS TO WIN, THOUGH HIS LEAD IS THIN,

THE VOICE OF DISSENTION WILL BE MET WITH OPPRESSION,

JUST SO THE ONE CAN WIN!

Word.

Meanwhile, the Obama assassination plot, to the naked eye, was a complete fraud: http://www.panoramio.com/photos/original/1726230.jpg

How you gonnna shoot Obama within Invesco, at 700 yards, from a vantage point? Anyone?

Cletus pulled a fast one on the entire global media. Even a country bumpkin knows that a journalist is only interested in hearing what he wants to hear.

Ugh, I cant stand listening to my Govenor (AZ)

She needs to go

offroadaz on August 26, 2008 at 8:33 PM

Hill will play nice with Barry. She’ll concentrate on the anti-Bush BS that that they both try and sell. When Obama loses, she doesn’t want anybody pointing at her, and her future ex-husband.

As a feminist, it must be painful for Hill to continually take a back seat to men the opposite sex.

fogw on August 26, 2008 at 8:36 PM

she’s gonna be smiling while she twists the knife in his back!!

her only conundrum is deciding whom to stab in the back first…bill or obama….

Funereal black

Hillary is like one of the fighters in Mortal Kombat….she’s just waiting to deliver the fatality to Obama’s political career.

“FINISH HIM!”

This event feels positively Shakespearean. Either that, or like Itchy & Scratchy.

ReubenJCogburn on August 26, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Schumer on PBS, I swear he said Governor Obama.

He was saying that government needs to help those earning $50,000 because it’s just not enough, that seems like he’s advocating a redistribution of wealth.

amazingmets on August 26, 2008 at 8:45 PM

This is gonna be a hoot! Between the rhetorical attacks inside the Convention Hall and the possibility (probability?) of the pseudo-anarchists stirring up trouble outside I’m just about giddy!!

After last nights demonstration by the Denver PD (fabulous tactical control of the situation at Civic Center Park) and the pseudo-anarchists (These people couldn’t riot if they had too)

You TOO can play Denver Cop! Monitor the park at the Denver Post Live cam and listen to the Denver PD Police Scanner for all the fun.

Oh man…off to get the popcorn ready…

Seixon on August 26, 2008 at 8:32 PM

The technical solution would be to use a mortar shell with a high arc, though I strongly recommend against it.

If Obama was assassinated, one of God’s children would die a tragic death, the dems would get sympathy, and the chance to run a candidate with different flaws. Better to let the dems shame themselves with their choice, again.

Hillary is not the VP nom because Obama knows that Hillary would only be a heart beat away from the presidency, and that is quite a tempatation for the Clinton folks.

Since I live in CA, I have built up years of mental calluses against leftist nonsense. Plus, I brought a plastic tarp in case the verbal vomiting throttling from the mouths of Democrats during the convention becomes too much.

Additionally, as a trained husband, I can tune any female conversation out at will. Work every time! :)

On maps showing the electoral college votes or political leanings of the states, Democrat states are colored blue, Republican states are colored red.

backwoods conservative on August 26, 2008 at 9:19 PM

OH! I get it. Thanks. A subliminal “vote red” message. Nice.

HilRod will be wearing Red,the colour of Power,

Maybe by 10:00PM,Hilrod will stage a power-grab so
to speak, the “Night of Zee Knives”!

It’ll all start off,as Hillary was just a little
girl, and how she dreamed of being POTUSA,and as
time goes by,like Captain Queeg of the Caine Mutiny,
minus the spinning steel balls in ones hand,HilRod
driffs in and out of reality,as her plan hatches!
And,I’m kidding!!!!! hahaha:)

ReubenJCogburn on August 26, 2008 at 9:30 PM

Yeah!!! Democrats can chant!

Romney, by the way, would be the worst of all worlds. He’s a rich, somewhat stiff flip-flopper who couldn’t win over the Republicans even when he took a conservative stance on every issue. How exactly would he help in the general.

Hawkblaze on August 26, 2008 at 9:31 PM

cannonball on August 26, 2008 at 9:34 PM

Those who claim to be pro-life, like Casey Jr., and then minimize their position in order to suck up to Dems demonstrate a lack of understanding of the topic. They claim on one hand to support the least of these, and on the other hand sweep millions of deaths under the rug. They bug me more than an open pro-abortion proponent. The later might get converted, but the former is a Quisling.
