Dean: Republicans are like … Milosevic

Howard Dean, keeping the hate alive in Denver:
You see, the Republicans are very, very good at dividing people. You know, they’re always … you gotta be mad because this group is against that and that group doesn’t get that. That’s terrible for the country, but it’s a time-honored way to win elections, and people use it in all kinds of different countries … Slobodan Milosevic used it in Yugoslavia!
Howard Dean in January:
“I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for…”
Howard Dean in February:
“This is a struggle between good and evil and we’re the good.”
Now, after the identity-politics meltdown that the entire nation witnessed in the Democratic primaries this cycle, and with Dean’s own quotes as context, which party seems more obsessed with groupthink — Democrats or Republicans? Which party set factions against each other more in 2008, all the way to the convention — Democrats or Republicans? Which candidate launched multiple, unfounded smears of racism — Barack Obama or John McCain?
Poor Howard Dean. In the end, all he has is hate.

And what a miracle…..the dems did actually find somebody more loathsome than McAuliff to run their party. I didn’t know that was possible.

It reminded me of his quotes from some years ago and you (Ed Morrissey) found some of them, though you seem not to have realized it. “I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for…” is from January 2005.
ForNow on August 26, 2008 at 12:27 PM
Wow, this man really speaks truth to power! So many Democrats simply lack the courage to point out that disagreeing with them is really the moral equivalent of brutal ethnic cleansing, and cannot be tolerated in a free society. Not Howard Dean. As McCain said, he’s just the gift that keeps on giving…
morganfrost on August 26, 2008 at 12:28 PM
Hey Howard look out the window. Those aren’t angry members of the Vast Right Wing Conspriarcy mixing it up with the police. During the primary season you refer them to as your base.

He’s just playing to his audience. If the other side is evil and every member a Hitler wanna-be, then nothing you do can be considered out of bounds in attempting to defeat them.
You can justify and excuse just about any action as a Leftist with this attitude. How else do you explain the nutroots and the Dem leadership?
Asher on August 26, 2008 at 12:34 PM
Howard Dean: I know I will win this country over using an us versus them tactic, a good versus evil strategy. We will be good and they will be evil. Now how can I paint them as evil……I know I will claim they use a divide and conquer tactics. Brilliant!

lorien1973 on August 26, 2008 at 12:35 PM
What bothers me most about Howie Dean is that this guy is supposed to be a doctor, meaning you have to have some level of compassion if you want to continue in that profession.
But every single time I see or hear this guy, I see and hear nothing but hate, and I mean vile hate. It actually gets to the point that I have to turn away.
For the life of me, I cannot understand how the Democrats can allow someone with so much vitriol to run the Party, especially if they want to win over voters.
Right now, the only thing they winning over are the far left kook snail slime that normally dwell in dark dank places like the Huffington Post and Daily KOS.
I swear, Democratic greats (yes, there were some) like Roosevelt and Truman have to be spinning like tops in their graves every single time Dean opens his mouth.
It is seriously disturbing.

It’s all good if you surrender your will and soul to the government. Right Howie?
Oooh…those evil Republicans. Fighting for freedom and liberty instead of government dependency since the system is so inherently biased (indicating that some are more equal to others).
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on August 26, 2008 at 12:42 PM
“You see, the Republicans are very, very good at dividing people. We, here at the DNC, are all about bringing people together- by any means necessary. Look at our primaries and our convention. Allowing people to actually vote is divisive, Republican behavior. We favor having our insiders choose our candidates in opposition to public opinion. Then, we stage our convention and ban legitimate voting in favor of nomination by acclamation. All in the name of unity. You see, if people can’t actually vote, we are unified, right?”
Damiano on August 26, 2008 at 12:42 PM
What do you expect? Afterall, wasn’t it Dr. Dean that pointed out to us not so long ago that the Republicans are the “white” party, and the Dems are the party of diversity? Looking at it that way, it’s the ignorant members of the white race (aka the GOP) against everyone else – - the Dem whites are “enlightened” of course.

And the competition is fierce.
madne0 on August 26, 2008 at 12:55 PM
Realistically, both the DNC and RNC conventions these days are nothing but staged commericals.
Except for the fact that Hillary still has a crowd of angry hens out there trying to change the outcome, it makes as much sense to simply nominate by acclamation than it does going through the farce of having the states actually “vote.” The thing I find interesting about this DNC convention is the extent of negotiating that is going on to put a public face of unity on a party bitterly divided.
Much the same is going to happen again next week at the GOP convention as cranky liberal bastard and his minions try to build bridges to the social conservatives and evangelicals they have thus far alienated and insulted.

To say something like that demonstrates new levels of hypocrisy. To call themselves a part of democracy is laughable. Leaders lead, while this democrat leader promotes hatred, fear, suspicion and exclusion of anyone of unlike thinking. Meaning we conservatives.
It is to the deterioration of the Democrat party that Dean brings. Once a party of openness and welcoming of all kinds, now finds itself a party of selective membership of communistic socialist values.
To openly promote hate is to damage his parties principals and values.
I couldn’t be more delighted!

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around
Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant
But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your gettin’ low
’stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall
Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam
‘Cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your feelin’ bad
’stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam
All problems just a toy balloon
They’ll be bursted soon
They’re just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop
Mr_Magoo on August 26, 2008 at 1:13 PM

Could the modern Democrat Party be more deceptive and totalitarian in their lust for power? Seriously, just how much more cynical and Machiavellian can these propagandists be?
I’m sorry if this seems harsh, but the Democrat Party needs to be completely exposed and torn down. These people aren’t just hateful anarchists, they’re down-right dangerous! Once they release the Anarchy genie from the bottle, do they think that after they seize power they will somehow magically squeeze that “toothpaste” back in the tube? This is a dangerous and destructive game they’re playing with this country.

ProximMaximus on August 26, 2008 at 1:32 PM
It becomes ever clearer to me that this country is moving towards another Civil War. The fact that half the people of this country are in the pocket of human dreck like Dean and Obama, willing to swallow any vile idea to advance their evil agenda, will ultimately have to be put down with force. These despicable creatures have advocated nothing but riots, looting, mayhem, criminality, and totalitarianism my entire long life. Negotiation and compromise with these Democrat monsters is not possible, any more than Southern slavers could reconcile with Northern abolitionists. But this time around it would seem that most of the firearms are in the hands of the enemies of the Democrats. When the shooting starts, they won’t prevail.
blackelkspeaks on August 26, 2008 at 1:34 PM
The DNC Big Tent: “…the convention in Denver will demonstrate to the nation, and to the world, that true unity is achieved not through ideological agreement, or political reconciliation, but through fanning the flames of a white-hot hatred for the enemies of diversity. We really don’t care what you believe, or who your favorite Democrat candidate might be. All that truly matters is that you fear and loathe Sen. John McCain, who is nothing more than the next incarnation of George W. Bush, a man who has turned this once-great nation into a 3,000-mile-wide Abu Ghraib prison camp.” — by Scott Ott

Yeeeeeeeeehaw KKK Dean’s stuck in his stew of sour grapes since it will never be him on the ticket! Just for fun, let’s hear Dean say, Go Biden three times in a row.
Bill Clinton’s Ode to Biden

My baby don’t care!
People say Hillary’s preparing for 2012, but the final goal is, of course, to properly place her Chelsea eventually. Hillary’s runs, successful or not, enable Chelsea just as the Kennedy dynasty enabled Caroline to direct the DNC today. It’s a familial infight that brought Hillary’s doom, not effacing herself soon enough or consistently enough to the Kennedy Klan. Pride and the fall befit the Clintons momentarily, as likewise Obama snubbed the POST-MLK black political community, burning bridges a la the Gen. Shermann mode.
