Comedy gold: Scarborough sneers at Shuster over MSNBC’s liberal bias

Oh my. Shuster’s a favorite of the “borderline sycophant” who runs the network now, isn’t he? Ah well. Between this, his dig last month at persons who shall remain nameless for demagoging McCain’s comments on Anbar, and of course Shovelgate, Scarborough can’t be long for the Olberverse. Exit question: Soft landing at Fox News? (Exit answer: Only if he brings Mika!) Click the image to watch.

McCain VP?

MSNBC must be that strange cackling noise I get clicking between FNC and Spike TV.

Fletch54 on August 26, 2008 at 11:01 AM

Would be a better pick than Huckabee.

wise_man on August 26, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Well that was fun…

PMS-DNC. What losers.

cjs1943 on August 26, 2008 at 11:03 AM

I’m telling you, 2009 will ring in President McCain and Olbermann/Schuster looking for a radio gig to preach to their followers. MSNBC will clean house or fold.

Marcus on August 26, 2008 at 11:03 AM

The behind the scenes screaming and yelling at MSNBC must be something to behold.

Understand this: Joe Scarborough is no shrinking violet - if he has to ,,, he will take on anyone - and do it loud and strong.

Worth watching what develops.

Exit question: Soft landing at Fox News?

Or CNN. There really isn’t as much commentary during prime time on CNN.

It would seem that an hour or two would open up at Air America for either of those two. And I’d rather see MSNBC fold.

Liberal bias by the Main Stream Media…I am shocked, shocked that someone could say that!

Mr. Joe on August 26, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Schuster is an independent, just like Keith Olbergoebbels.Ha. hahaha. hahahahahahahahahahahaha. ha.

Joe does get under my skin, but at least he isn’t as annoying as the Fox and Friends crew.

Lance Murdock on August 26, 2008 at 11:09 AM

Deep thought: Is Olberman successful because we hate him so much?

I don’t like most of the liberal media, but for the most part, I ignore them. But Olberman… the mixture of him having a bully pulpit and a low IQ makes me come unglued.

lionheart on August 26, 2008 at 11:10 AM

Scarborough has become far more middle of the road since joining MSNBC, but apparently last night’s little incident with Keith Shovelmann woke Joe up to the fact that no matter what he does to be “fair and balanced”, it will never be enough to satisfy the current power structure (i.e. Olby and his protector, Phil Griffin).

All that animosity from last night’s on-air fight combined with the realization that he’s never going to be seen as more than a Republican butt-boy by the other show hosts apparently left Joe simmering through the night, and the result was David Shuster being the recipient of Scarborough’s truth-telling on this morning’s show. And while it would be nice to see Joe carry this over into tonight’s prime-time coverage, my guess is he doesn’t toss out the first barb unless he’s attacked by Keith again (though if Joe is smart, he’ll set up an interview with Ed Rendell or Charlie Rangel and let them have at Obama and force Olby to debate them on-air).

jon1979 on August 26, 2008 at 11:11 AM

The Fox and Friends crew bring a whole new meaning to fluff (and stupidity) in the morning.

Lance Murdock on August 26, 2008 at 11:11 AM

Joe has cut his own throat on live TV. He will not be long at MSNBC. Barnacle is a lot less acrimonous. Shuster was astounded at his typical liberal whinge about “your party” and Joe took such offense.

Too bad, it so entertaining and Joe is the only one that does not toe the liberal line.

RAH on August 26, 2008 at 11:15 AM

I DID! YOU IDIOT, YOU FOOL, YOU RAPSCALLION, YOU HEATHEN, YOU BRUTE, YOU BRUTE!!!

LOL

benrand on August 26, 2008 at 11:16 AM

I’ve lost a lot of respect for Scarborough over the last couple of years and he actually clawed a little of it back.

I think we saw a glimmer of the man who previously passed over and has been trapped on the other side.

Fight the darkside Joe! Walk toward the light. Walk toward the light!

moxie_neanderthal on August 26, 2008 at 11:20 AM

Oh Allah posted the audio of the shovel argument last night, here’s the video.

You could be right. Maybe Olberdouche and Scheister will get him canned and PMSNBC’s journey to the Dark Side will be complete.

drjohn on August 26, 2008 at 11:23 AM

That was awesome!!! Scarborough completely crapped on his face and made him look like an idiot. Let’s see if Olby tries to get him fired.

It really is a shame that they have decided to appeal to mouth-breathers because they could’ve really been a great show.
I never liked E.D but shes an Einstien compared to the current dimwit

jjshaka on August 26, 2008 at 11:24 AM

Wait, wait… how long has Chandler from “Friends” had a show on MSNBC?

radjah shelduck on August 26, 2008 at 11:25 AM

I haven’t laughed this hard in years…liberals, without the courage to identify themselves with what they are, parading around now as “independents” throwing that up as a shield, then trying to hide behind their big mouths.

Two BIG points to Joe, whether you like him or not, for b*tch slapping Schuster and basically calling him an ignorant liar! Taking bets on how long before gutless BS-NBC boots Joe so we can have all “independents” all the time…rotf.

PatriotPete on August 26, 2008 at 11:26 AM

You could be right. Maybe Olberdouche and Scheister will get him canned and PMSNBC’s journey to the Dark Side will be complete.

drjohn on August 26, 2008 at 11:23 AM

I think the hiring of militant lesbian nutcase Maddow pretty much completed the circle of hell for this “network”

jjshaka on August 26, 2008 at 11:28 AM

this is the calling card of many far-left Liberals. “I’m an Indpendent, not a Democrat”. Then go about being as Liberal and far-left bias as possible, thinking they are fooling people of their neutrality and at the same time influencing them.

MSNBC is a hell hole

jjshaka on August 26, 2008 at 11:24 AM

That’s for sure. Even though Scarborugh has become a RINO on MSNBC at least he tolerable compare to everyone else on that network.

If you are going to actually watch Obama-NBC, at least you won’t feel completely stupid as if you tune in F&F and watch Brian try to form complex sentences.

Lance Murdock on August 26, 2008 at 11:32 AM

Joe has been there long enough, he probably has some Juicy dirt he could tell.

jp on August 26, 2008 at 11:32 AM

wonder how much a 30 second commercial at 8pm on MSNBC cost compared to Fox/Oreily?

jp on August 26, 2008 at 11:33 AM

Good for Joe. I’m glad there is at least one person on MSNBC with some standards.

SoulGlo on August 26, 2008 at 11:33 AM

Has anyone mentioned that Fox And Friends is stupid? And they are all doodie heads?

wise_man on August 26, 2008 at 11:34 AM

Joe deserves whatever crap gets thrown his way. He’s a sell out to conservatives the same way David Brock was. His constant sucking up to the left is nauseating. He’ll say and do anything to get invited to their snobfest cocktail parties. I hope his ass gets fired. He was right about Shuster being in the tank for the left, but he’s no better.

roninacreage on August 26, 2008 at 11:34 AM

The funny thing is that Scarborough sounds pretty moderate in his beliefs. They can’t even stand someone who’s a moderate.

Would love to see Scarborough on Weekend Fox and Friends.

MitchFlorida on August 26, 2008 at 11:37 AM

Weekend Fox and Friends? Nah, I would bump out Greta (her show sucks) amd let Joe do a show similar to his old Scarborugh Country show.

keepinitreal on August 26, 2008 at 11:40 AM

While it was fun to watch and Joe was right, I don’t think it was a good idea to call out one of his colleagues on air like that from a job-security perspective.

Shuster is such a Democrat it’s a joke he claims he’s independent, but so is virtually every other TV reporter on cable news, including most of them on Fox.

CanadianGuy on August 26, 2008 at 11:45 AM

Joe was publicly embarrassed by Olby, he was punked and was made to look like a total chump.

He can’t let that happen. He needs to blow things up.

If he doesn’t, he’s lost face.

I DID!!! YOU IDIOT JOE, DIDN’T YOU HEAR THAT YOU STUPID UNSMART PERSON??? I SAID IT!!! I DID!!!

lol

benrand on August 26, 2008 at 11:45 AM

I see Scarborough lasting longer than Olbermann in the long run. He’s like a cancer over there, and I’d bet that the more professional journalists are probably growing tired of the Olbermann influence, because it reflects badly on them. I give Olbermann 1 more year, and he’s out. Joe may differ ideologically from many in NBC and MSNBC, but I bet he’s well liked, and respected.

Dave From Canada on August 26, 2008 at 11:46 AM

you’d think that this is how the mean spirited conservatives behave toward each other in a disagreement. haven’t seen it on fox, not even close.

yossi on August 26, 2008 at 11:48 AM

Wow, that was a bit painful, but I loved it. go Joe!

bopbottle on August 26, 2008 at 11:49 AM

Joe & Mika are pretty much the only ones I can watch on MSNBC (and I only do that through clips that are posted here).

CP on August 26, 2008 at 11:51 AM

This must have been akin to an out of body experience to the 135 people watching MSNBC. Maybe it was the first time they ever heard someone express something other than their orthodoxy. No. Just joking. As soon as Joe really got going they all turned off the TV and surfed over to dkos so they could forget the mean man.

snaggletoothie on August 26, 2008 at 11:55 AM

MSM has become nothing more than an American Idol circle jerk.

Nothing but people trying to be celebrities repeating other peoples lines, more concerned with how they look than providing objective facts on the issues that we face.

These cat fights and on air tissy fits are fun to watch, but
I sure don’t go from laughing at their idiocy to taking them
seriously when they discuss world and domestic events.

Thank God we have the internet so that we don’t have to depend on these bozo’s.

A reverse symbiosis is at work: those who benefit most from the opium/heroin trades also benefit most from a destabilized Afghanistan, because a stable country with functioning government systems, reliable security forces and a framework of laws is a bad climate for the drug trade. Conversely, farmers growing crops such as cotton and beans benefit from a stable government climate, which affords the opportunity to think beyond the next crop cycle. In order to make agriculture a more successful business venture, farmers need a stable government as a partner. But since the interests of poppy farmers and narco-kings are in aggressive opposition to any plan to stabilize Afghanistan, this partnership is not even in the talking stage

Lou Dobbs: ‘My Colleagues in the Media Are Absolutely Biased’

An astonishing thing happened on CNN Sunday evening: Lou Dobbs told his guests, “My colleagues in the national media are absolutely biased, in the tank supporting the Obama candidacy while claiming the mantle of objectivity,” and they agreed.

The activist that make up the MSM have made such fools of themselves that their own people call them on it in front of millions, revealing how pathetic this institution has become.

The Truth About Russia in Georgia
http://www.michaeltotten.com/

TBILISI, GEORGIA – Virtually everyone believes Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili foolishly provoked a Russian invasion on August 7, 2008, when he sent troops into the breakaway district of South Ossetia. “The warfare began Aug. 7 when Georgia launched a barrage targeting South Ossetia,” the Associated Press reported over the weekend in typical fashion.

Virtually everyone is wrong. Georgia didn’t start it on August 7, nor on any other date. The South Ossetian militia started it on August 6 when its fighters fired on Georgian peacekeepers and Georgian villages with weapons banned by the agreement hammered out between the two sides in 1994.

Liberal historian Sean Wilentz castigates the press for protecting and cocooning Obama,

letting him coast on breezy platitudes and bumper-sticker manifestos, thus leaving him free to refrain from developing any specific (announced) platform or reason for his candidacy, other than “he’s cool and he’s black.”
Leaving him “the most unformed candidate in the history of modern presidential politics.

chb03c on August 26, 2008 at 12:11 PM

Well, that exchange was unedifying. Sure, let’s give some kudos to Joe, but he did get a little incoherent at the end.

In any event, does no one (including Joe S.) in the MSM have any clue at all as to the official US position on withdrawal from Iraq? The US has stated, on more than one occasion, that it would leave whenever asked by the Iraq government. I am sure McCain’s position is the same. How this is inconsistent with the position that a “timeline” is a profoundly stupid idea, I don’t know, but leave it to the cloudy thinkers like those at MSNBC and the Obama campaign to think it is.

By the way, has none of these MSM doofuses who are paid millions a year pointed out that Maliki’s words are clearly intended for domestic Iraqi consumption? He can hardly say that he wants all the US troops to remain for a 100 years and hope to avoid political flack from the opposition. Now, can he? Besides, folks, the end of 2011 is more than three years away. I think by then it’s pretty safe to say there will be need of minimal US troops, and, indeed, there will be minimal US troops, regardless of what Maliki wants.

Nomennovum on August 26, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Mika is cute but useless, poor Joe - Surely he saw the writing on the wall with Phil Griffin the past year or two, there’s no room in lalaland for moderate former congressional reps with loads of broadcast experience, only room for fired sportscasters and boneheads like Maddow.

saus on August 26, 2008 at 12:17 PM

The amazing thing is Shuster really believes he is Independent – after all, his voting card says so. He’s a paid professional investigative reporter and he proved his independence by following his own paper trail.

Beckham on August 26, 2008 at 12:19 PM

While I love how he went after Shuster, he needs to try to do it in less of a whiny tone. It got annoying after about a minute.

texette on August 26, 2008 at 12:21 PM

Schuster is an absolute tool. He should be required to renounce his Indiana roots. His MSNBC colleagues love to point that out, as if to laud Schuster as a reformed rube from the flyover zone who still can think fondly of the heartland. I’ll bet guys like Scarborough used to beat the crap out of him in grade school. Little Davey.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before. If you ever see Schuster report for Matthews on Hardball, Schuster’s face reminds me of those old Clutch Cargo cartoons. There, the facial expressions of the cartoon characters didn’t move–except for the lips, which seemed to be human lips superimposed on the character’s face.

One last shot, there’s a McCain spokeswoman who’s an economist and who’s last name is Potephur (sp?). She’s sharp. I saw her manhandle Schuster on two days of Hardball in one week. It was classic: a conservative woman essentially neutering him on national TV. After the first time, I think they invited her back just to give little Davey a second crack at her–and she repeated the neutering. I thought he was going to cry both times.

BuckeyeSam on August 26, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Scarborough’s contract was recently extended until 2011, and he received one of those laudatory pieces in the Times earlier this summer. So, if MSNBC does can him, they’ll have a lot of ’splainin’ to do.

And can someone please explain Olbermann’s “shoveling” comment? I truly have no idea how that comment is to be interpreted.

I knew Joe had to be smarting over what happened w/ Olby and knows he has a Dan Abrams-style dismissing coming, and just wanted to get fired on the spot and get the whole damn thing over with. His likely replacement? Ummm… David Shuster. May help explain his anger towards Shuster and calling him out on oversleeping(!). Plus, like Olby, Shuster’s a douchebag. It’s a shame, too, Joe is the only somewhat reasonable one left at MSDNC.

Noneya on August 26, 2008 at 4:27 PM

Shuster is Olby`s favorite? Does Richard Wolffe know he`s being cheated on?

And I swear to GOD, this is in his wikipedia entry:

Currently, Wolffe is an MSNBC political analyst, and appears frequently on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. His role on Countdown is to agree with everything Olbermann says and validate his arguments. His catchphrases include “Yes, Keith” and “You’re right, Keith” as well as “I think that’s right” and “I think you’ve got it right.”
