The balanced budget, proposed by a GOP Congress (before they mutated into Repiglicans), that Mr. Bill (Oh, noooo!) vetoed several times, before finally getting the increased spending that he wanted.

Pointless wars that he dodged? You mean like the war against Serbia, which like Iraq never attacked us? Oh wait, he didn’t dodge that one, did he?

Yeah, I know. Milosevic, genocide against Kosovars, blah, blah. Kosovars dead from Milosevic: Between 2000 and 4000, far below the “tens of thousands”. Kurds dead from Saddam: At least 100,000. If humanitarian concerns made the war over Kosovo not pointless, then the same is true for Iraq.

I hate to say it, but I really do like Bill Clinton. I was young (and stupid) when I first voted for him, and have since seen the light to become a strong Republican. But I still have a soft spot for him. I think its because Bill Clinton didn’t base his entire case on being President on the fact that he grew up poor. With the help of James Carville, he developed a actual message that was rooted in the principles developed by the Democratic Leadership Council, which is a pro-business group; hence, the passage of NAFTA. While Obama is definately (to use a phrase uttered by Hugh Hewitt) “anti-American Exceptionalism,” as opposed to anti-American, Bill Clinton was never anything but pro American Greatness.

Clinton’s don’t want to lose their power in the party. HRC will do no more to support BO than this speech. It was just words, but Bill’s actions are the heart of the Clintons. I swore I saw HRC crossing her fingers behind her back during segments of the speech. BO’s defeat in November will mean the Clinton’s are still the power couple of the dem party.

Karl beat me to it. I think Obama would be happy for Bill not to be there. Just imagine the cameras cutting away from The One to look around the crowd, and lighting on Bill’s furrowed brow and slight frown.

If ever there was a distraction Obama could do without, I’m guessing Bill’s presence is it. He can gain nothing by Bill being there…..the Dems are ticked off at him (both Barack & Hillary supporters, for different reasons) and it would make Obama sleep better to sweep Bill under the rug (which is surprisingly roomy under there, mainly because most people have been shunted under the bus.)
