"nothing to do with what's going on now"
??
So a former president, husband of a woman who wants to be president, makes remarks about voting choices at a convention where voting is required and which exists because of a forthcoming national presidential election ... and yet his remarks have nothing to do with that election.

Incredible. What kind of fantasy land do these people occupy, and how many people are sufficiently stupid to share that pathetic fantasy.

He and his ilk are, were and possibly always will be unfit for public service. They lack substance and moral understanding and consequently they can't tell the difference between the office of presidency and some kind of private, petulant, party game.

If that had been politically possible it would ahve been done a long time ago. No, these muslism serve as a trusty treasure house of votes for the socialists and an anti-christian/anti-western force for the radicals. The rest of the population has been intimidated by racism charges and pumped up by feelgood sentiments of being a "world conscience" and supreme moral authority on the world arean all since the late 1960ies. The opposition against this policy of muslim settlement is growing steadily but slowly and under enormous pressure.

That we have high taxes is not because we ahve government paid health care, it is because we have government paid everything and a massive influx of improductive immigrants (mainly muslims) that do not want to work but instead claim social benefits that cost us tens of billions of dollars annually, actually more than our defence budget.

And why are these immigrants in your country if you cannot afford them? Cut them off and deport the ones who refuse to become productive members of your society.

.
Income (SEK)----------Tax rate (%)
-328 000 ----------------- 30-36
328 100-495 000 ------ 50-57
495 100- ----------------- 55-62
.
(6.40 SEK = 1 USD)
.
The above table means that for the portion of your income that is up to 328.000 SEK (51.250 USD) the tax rate is 30-36% (varying depending on the local municipality, though there are also several tax breaks for really low incomes, government benefits like rent assistance, like child support (for everyone whether you are rich or poor) and the first 10.000 SEK in income is tax free so the actual calculation is somewhat more complex.) Only those who earn more than the cut off value of 51.250 USD pay the higher tax rate and then only on that portion of their income that is above the cut off value.

And I understand your top marginal income tax rate is around 60 percent (down, actually, from a high of 87 percent back in the 1970s, but climbing again).

Well actually it is a bit over 9 million but anyway... It would not work any less with 9 billion people...
.
Lets have a theoretical experiment. Lets say we have a population of 10 contributing to the hospital through taxes. Let us also say that it is a 20% chance to contract a serious illness during your lifetime. That means that these ten people will pay for the healthcare of two persons. Because the low number of people involved there is no economy of scale involved, (accumualted experience is low, no effects of aggregation nor of mass production). The cost for each of these two surgeries are therfore extremely high. Added to this is another problem even more pertinent to your question of numbers: With a small population both the chance of and the impact of statistical aberrations are all the greater. If we increase the population to 9 million maybe the statistical chance of contracting a serious illness during ones lifetime drops to 17% in our example (larger population gives better statistics) and of course we now see economies of scale. Well this argument was just to refute your "5 million hypothesis".
.
Now to the real discussion. Universal healthcare is a matter of human dignity as well as human productivity. The dignity aspect is so self-evident that i will not touch it further in this post. The productivity approach then? It it not also rather clear that people who feel safe work better since anxiety levels drop and theya re not forced to keep improductive cash reserves inc ase of illness or pay for expensive insurances which give little security since it is universally known that insurance companies always and as a matter of principle to to shirk their contractual responsibilities and also demand a hefty profit margin which increase the spending while reducing the health care received for the customer. In my view the health insurance industry is nothing but a parasite feeding off the insecurity of the citizens, a parasite that could be made redundant by government intervention.
.
Is then everything fine and dandy in Sweden? Not at all, in many areas Sweden has much larger problems than the US but health care is not one of them. The problems we have with health care is not the government financing but the policy of our late socialist government (we now have a market oriented government, in European parlance a liberal government, in american parlance a conservative one) that prohibited private hospitals. We now have a few private upstarts that compete with the more ineffectively run government hospitals withing the same government financing system. Quite an ideal system I would say - everyone has equal access but everyone can compete and the patients can chose their provider.

OK, just so that we’re 100% clear. Would it be fair to say that Matt Drudge hates freedom?

freevillage on August 26, 2008 at 3:12 PM
There may be a much simpler explanation. Obama is a nice lookin' guy.

Candidate Y you agree with on about half the issues, but <strike>he</strike> she can deliver.

Which candidate are you going to vote for?”
Then, perhaps mindful of how his off-the-cuff remarks might be taken, Clinton added after a pause:
“This has nothing to do with

Two lies, one he said "he", not "she", and the "nothing to do". He's full of rage and it's a beauty.

His legacy, and his problems with Hillary over his tryst, were not redeemed.
