A day without DBD would be like … darkness!
posted at 5:35 pm on August 26, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
My friend Chris Muir, the artist behind the incomparable and delightful Day by Day cartoon that looks at current events through a conservative lens while challenging its readers, has another fundraiser at his site. Chris’ work exists on his ability to make a living on the Internet, and offers his strip and its trenchant wit for free to a number of blogs. He can use a boost from the people who enjoy it the most:

Let’s help keep Day by Day an everyday delight! Visit Chris’ website and donate what you can to help support a true Internet original.

Saw this yesterday.
You’ll want to donate at at least ‘Zed’ level in order to get the playing cards (PDF you can print out).

I blame you cap. I haven’t read them since you dropped your blog. Put them on, then we will support.
Rustyw on August 26, 2008 at 5:52 PM
i will send something this week, i read this almost everyday.
trailortrash on August 26, 2008 at 5:54 PM
There’s a link to the right under the “Cartoons/Satire” heading, Rusty.
Wethal on August 26, 2008 at 5:54 PM
Get it over here on Hot Air and I’ll donate. Otherwise, I never see it.
Immolate on August 26, 2008 at 5:55 PM
One of the greatest cartoons out there.
Support them!
BobH on August 26, 2008 at 6:01 PM
That’s what bookmarks are for. I finally got my husband reading it, he printed out four years’ worth and binged over a long weekend.
I figure, if Obama can raise $50 million in a month, we can at least come up with lunch money for Chris.
Quisp on August 26, 2008 at 6:01 PM
Donated yesterday. I’m hoping he gets at least $100K.
Buford Gooch on August 26, 2008 at 6:05 PM
I agree. Hotair should post these cartoons every day. We need a humor section.
lorien1973 on August 26, 2008 at 6:09 PM
I was peeking in at CQ when this comic first started. Good to see it’s still around.
Weebork on August 26, 2008 at 6:15 PM
Wethal,
Yea, so. I have them in my favs. But truthfully, I always read it at Caps site. I also always donated. Now, I don’t read it. Heck, I don’t read cartoons in the paper either. Out of site out of mind. I am happy that you however take the time to read it.
So I am in total agreement with Immolate. Want us to donate? Put it on the blog. Right Captain?
Rustyw on August 26, 2008 at 6:15 PM
I donated – would hate to see DBD end!!
MochaLite on August 26, 2008 at 6:18 PM
Sent them 5 bucks. all I could afford. But it’s worth it.
LibertarianConservative on August 26, 2008 at 6:29 PM
Suckers born every minute. Why would I give this guy money? Am I missing something? He is running a for profit business…sells ads. Either he sells enough ads or he doesn’t. I am going to go buy some ice cream instead of giving this leech any of my money.
BoogPowell on August 26, 2008 at 6:31 PM
Friends, on the right, under Hot Links, scroll down to Cartoons/Satire and lo and behold, Day by Day! It’s been there since I’ve been here.

BoobPowell says “He is running a for profit business…sells ads.”
Chris Muir did this on the side, as he had a full time job. He lost that job due to the nature of his work and/or the economy. If people think you are a fool it’s best to keep your mouth shut than remove all doubt.

How the hell does anyone make bread doing what Chris is doing?
With the death of intellectual property rights I don’t know how any creative type can sustain themselves.
mylegsareswollen on August 26, 2008 at 6:45 PM
What really attracted me to the DbD site is that they have every single comic going back to the very beginning. For free. I spent a couple of days when I was home sick reading them all. I strongly recommend the “Sam” level because of the posters. They’re awesome!
rmgraha on August 26, 2008 at 7:13 PM
Yeah, Cap’n. Please put DBD as a header on this site. Or, at least, underneath the headlines.
Besides, the place is getting kind of dusty, and could use a bit of sprucing up!
Doc Rochester on August 26, 2008 at 7:14 PM
Tom,
This cartoon site that he has is a business and he is trying to make a profit. I wish him well. But, if he cannot find a market for his art then, he should get a job like the rest of us. Why should I work for his food?

Post this and Mallard Fillmore.
Xolom on August 26, 2008 at 7:25 PM
Since when did this become a beg-a-thon?
hadsil on August 26, 2008 at 7:45 PM
Mallard Fillmore is funny. DBD sucks.
CABE on August 26, 2008 at 7:53 PM
DBD has no contact point, so I couldn’t point out to him that his message is not present on the RSS feed page. I use RSS to access the strip, and couldn’t find the message which was mentioned. I had to click on the Home link to find the message.
HotWeaver on August 26, 2008 at 8:03 PM
Donated!
Years ago when I had my blog Chris Muir left a positive comment.
It made my month.
annoyinglittletwerp on August 26, 2008 at 8:04 PM
Well, I read DBD almost every day. Since I get some enjoyment and food for thought from it, I do not see myself as a “sucker” for giving to a man who gives something to me.
It is the purest form of capitalism for a man to craft a thing in such a manner that others are willing to pay for it. Great job Mr. Muir, here’s my $40 bucks.

DBD is a great strip worthy of a humble donation. A collection point for similar comics would be convenient, but it’s not a big deal to me to click on all the bookmarks I have saved.
Does anyone else miss Cox and Forkum?

A day without DBD would be like … darkness, or at least a day with inadequate declotage exposure.
The Damon level is sold out, but appropriate for capitalists. Maybe I can do the Sam level a few times…
Right_of_Attila on August 26, 2008 at 8:26 PM
Yeah, but I have 3 of their books. Now Those were cartoons. I’m not a Day by Day fan. Guess nobody can please everyone.
RushBaby on August 26, 2008 at 8:27 PM
I did the “Sam Hotness” level! DBD rocks.

If I had money, I’d do it. But since I don’t, I will just have to get friends who read it to join in.
Sakaki on August 26, 2008 at 8:40 PM
Get DBD on Hot Air. I miss them since you changed jobs, Ed. I suspect they miss you as well.
Aubrey on August 26, 2008 at 9:19 PM
I’ve donated at the “Sam” level.
Chris produces something I’d enjoyed for years back at CQ. When he had the stones to do a strip in solidarity with European cartoonists who’d “Offended Islam” ™ which showed Mohammed in the guise of a pig, getting interviewed about intolerance in his name, I immediately ordered one of his Cafe Press tee shirts.
When I started my own blog, one of the things I was most excited about was the chance to embed DBD on it (at least in part so I would have a place to look at it every day; I simply wasn’t getting to my bookmark as regularly as I wanted).
Chris Muir more than earns his keep, as far as I’m concerned. If he needs to bolster his ad revenues with contributions from his readers, then I’m more than happy to do my part. If not enough people agree with me and vote with their dollars, then he will not be able to stay in business. The invisible hand is no less handsome for occasionally becoming visible.
Plus, Sam is hawt!
Noocyte on August 26, 2008 at 9:52 PM
On one hand it’s good to see the sell out for the top donation…on the other I’d kill for a signed strip with Sam.
CBarker on August 26, 2008 at 10:35 PM
As a former CQtrs’er, all i can say is…”Sam rules”.
Del Dolemonte on August 26, 2008 at 10:39 PM
I’m embarrassed to admit this, but about 70% of the time, I have no freaking clue what that day’s DBD means. More often than not, I just don’t get it.
S. Weasel on August 27, 2008 at 4:44 AM
me personally, I generally skip over that toon(i don’t even read it).
I have read Prickly City for a long time..

start there and read each one and keep clicking “next day” till you get to the current one. Pretty funny Carmen(Republican) has been Brainwashed in a Chinese reeducation camp and turned into a Socialist.
