I hate those guys, they’re almost as bad as ASCAP.

(If ASCAP could charge you a fee everytime you THOUGHT of a song you heard, they’d do it in a second.)

Copyright law was created to protect a temporally limited monetary interest to aid in supporting artists. It was NOT designed to allow either:

1. Record execs to make money off the backs of small artists.

2. Artists to live off some early work and never produce anything new again.

I am a firm proponent of “nearly-unlimited Fair Use” within 5-10 years, and Public Domain within 50.

As holder of both patents and copyrights myself, I vehemently disagree!!!

Both patents and copyrights are contracts which trade “exclusivity” for “fair use”, on the theory that “fair use” benefits society. The RIAA is trying to eliminate the “fair use” and obtain “exclusivity” at the expense of us all (we pay taxes to support government enforcers). This position is completely irreconcilable with the original justification for issuing “patents” and/or “copyrights” in the first place, as it gives the RIAA a completely unwarranted no-cost “benefit”…and returns NOTHING to society in return.

Thank goodness he is not influencing the youth….imagine if they followed his personal finance plan……
Chris Mathews and Democrats are touting that Biden only has 150k in net worth….The gentleman has had complete health care coverage and making over twice the mean income for 30 years …..good gracious, do the youth really want him with anything to do with the economy….
Here are some numbers….if he saved 3% of his salary and invested it with just a 7% return….that would be 330K. Does he even own his house?

How is it that a useful invention like ShamWOW (I kid, I kid) has a maximum patent of 20 years from the earliest claimed filing date, but Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Turd won’t be public domain for probably 120 years (or more)?

As a yute in the coveted 18-29 demographic, I’m totally turned off from Biden ’cause he’s old, and has old-man hair. And he eats puppies and kittens or something.

Seriously, is the youth vote that important? I mean, I vote because it’s my duty (and I have tons o’ civic pride), but are college-aged kids going to decide this election? Have they ever? I’m ashamed of my peers for their lack of massive voter turn-out, and I honestly don’t think they’re going to look into Biden’s past in deciding whether to vote for Obama. He’s the One, and if everything else hasn’t sunk him yet, the legislative work by his running mate won’t make a dent either.
