The conventions are here and e-mailers are clamoring to comment, so now’s your chance. Sign into the thread below and follow the WordPress registration steps — after reading our terms of use, of course. If your comments don’t appear immediately, please be patient. It takes time to process them at first. They’ll be there eventually.
Michelle will be in and around Denver this week, Ed will be live on the scene in Minneapolis starting next Monday, and I’ll be posting only the choicest robot-related viral videos, so there should be plenty to comment on. Enjoy, and welcome!
Update: No need to sign in below, actually. You can register by clicking here.
Update: It’s 12:45 a.m. and the door is now closed.
You must be logged in to post a comment.

Hi all, a noob here saying “thanks for openingup the door!”
While I am a “noob” here, I have been debating the non-religious and Liberals for over a decade. On sites (first one I debated at was over ten years ago [Discovery Channel]) that started out as forum discussions on Space Battles and the like. I have since progressed to blogging, starting out on MySpace, and ending over at Blogspot. I also dabble a bit in Wine, Beer, Cheese and Health.
This all being said (really a way to increase traffic at my sites), I am much happier to comment here than over at LGF, even though I enjoy their input I enjoy the worldview here a bit more.

The time between the conventions seems like a good time to set up an “Exile a Troll” thread. I nominate alphie.
Right_of_Attila on August 25, 2008 at 12:09 PM
LOL, this place is now getting as crazy as Little Green Footballs. Welcome to all of the newbies.
Shouldn’t the new people here get a nickname like the little lizards at lgf get?
Del Dolemonte on August 25, 2008 at 12:10 PM
Yeah, and the collie recently registered over at MM, so we get to enjoy the canine wisdom over there too!

Has anyone notified RedPill that comment registration is open again?
Ars Moriendi on August 25, 2008 at 12:11 PM
I have nothing constructive to add at this point.

Good morning, Kini – - I noticed alphie kept you all up last night.

Hey Harry, do you feel lucky?
backwoods conservative on August 25, 2008 at 12:16 PM
I disagree with some of what you say, but you are not a Troll.
I nominate Alphie and Freevillage to go under the banhammer- thay are just trolls, and contribute nothing meaningful.

Glad to be on board. I always read HotAir first to see what is going on. Will feel honored to add my two cents.
greenacres on August 25, 2008 at 12:19 PM
Speaking of trolls, maybe I should continue to contribute in the threads on a continual basis. It appears that every time I leave the threads for awhile a bunch of trolls show up. Somehow they know.
Weebork on August 25, 2008 at 12:19 PM
Other then the trolls.
Welcome all Newbies! Enjoy the show.
upinak on August 25, 2008 at 12:19 PM
I don’t think more than 5 people have ever been banned. I do recall some pure all-caps spammers who got nailed, but past them, the ban hammer collects a great deal of dust.
MadisonConservative on August 25, 2008 at 12:20 PM
You forgot DAVE! I think you know who I am talking about.
upinak on August 25, 2008 at 12:21 PM
AP-Admins – I am already registered and can make comments at work, but although registered with a new password (twice) i can no longer log in and comment from my home computer.
Its prolly some intarwebs demon chewing on the insides of my home rig, but I appeal for wisdom and help. In the past my registration worked just as well for home as work, but now only my work computer recognizes my login.
Thots please?

Great site. Happy to be aboard.
banshee on August 25, 2008 at 12:33 PM
Best place I found so far, moves fast.
LGF just runs fewer new stories per day (Give me content filler! pleads AP) and Charles spends so much time tinkering with his beloved code that his site is slower than cr#p.
Drudge is going down the tubes.
pseudonominus on August 25, 2008 at 12:33 PM
Thank you for opening up comment registration again! Have been paitently awaiting this since Ed moved to this site! =)
HouseHold6 on August 25, 2008 at 12:33 PM
I sometimes feel bad for poor alphie. I don’t know if alphie really believes what alphie posts or if alphie is just doing so just to get attention and comments. alphie certainly cannot keep on topic.
If you are new to registration Rick. Welcome aboard! And have at em!

There’s what’ll get ya banned, right there.
Not that I fell for it in any way, of course.
TexasDan on August 25, 2008 at 12:36 PM
It’s a good thing, and a sign of real liberalism and progress, freedom in other words, and so different from the lefite sites, including CNN, where bannings, comment screenings/closings are de rigueur.
Welcome to all.
Please note – this is how ‘liberal’ and ‘progressive’ from the left is spelled correctly (always with a single quote around them).
Also note that AllahPundit is a deity, and not a diety. Never forget the former.
Entelechy on August 25, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Sometimes that happens to me. Cleaning Cookies, Cache etc doesn’t help. I at time have to erase everything off my computer.. link wise and favorite wise, do a complete scanning wipe and then it works.
Good luck!
upinak on August 25, 2008 at 12:37 PM
There’s another, but as the one I’d nominate still has most people fooled, I won’t mention who it is. heh…
Connie on August 25, 2008 at 12:38 PM
I’ve usually (back in the CQ days, at least) referred to Ward Churchill as the Wooden Indian. Whatever happened to the goofball?
Is he now keeping a DNC hack job with David Gergen and Marvin Kalb over at the Kennedy School of Gummint (@ Hah-vahd)?
viking01 on August 25, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Regardless of if Hot Air registration is open, everyone is welcome to participate in the chat room for the Ed Morissey Show. To participate, you register at ustream.tv
Hope to see you there!

Actually, diety is correct, if used as the original Latin for “Wearer of the bag”.
MadisonConservative on August 25, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Hello, everybody.
For my first comment I have a question:
How does the Obama campaign explain the choice of Biden to Hillary’s supporters? The biggest criticism Obama used against Hillary during the primaries was that she initially voted for the iraq War. Did not Biden also cast his vote for the Iraq War?

Newbies.
Welcome all. Even our new troll friends.
I’m in charge of distributing the “duct tape” here at HA, to wrap around your heads as to help keep it from exploding after reading some of the comments from our ‘progressive’ friends here, and after hearing/reading about some of the looniness that the ‘left’ is spouting out there in the world today. Feel free to ask for extra rolls if needed, during the next few days while the Dhems. have their fun.
I’ve got pallets full.
Over.

Apparently, I missed this “Pinky”.
On an unrelated note, “Pinky” used to be the name of a demon in one of those childhood violent video games called “Doom”. It kinda looked like a shaved gorilla.

I believe that is true. But the O needs a attack dog and Biden fits the suits. But like O’s foreign policy experience, which is nada, Biden is seen as strong in that area. Strong and Wrong most if not all of the time that is.

Okay. Oaky. So Pinky was vulgar and crass — and admittedly, those were his better qualities. He made me laugh though.

iirc, he did indeed vote for use of force. some dem spinner on cnn fri. eve. attempted to explain this away in the following manner — “but he’s been one of the harshest critics of the war ever since so it’s ok!”
/so that’s what desperation sounds like …

Anna on August 25, 2008 at 1:10 PM
Please don’t tell me someone with the name “AlphieFan” has joined us.
“Freevillage” is actually helpful (if you will) in that he probably represents, broadly speaking, a Russian nationalist point of view on matters.
And my guess is that we’ll be discussing Russian foreign policy alot over the coming months.
If you can hold your nose while typing, he’s someone to occasionally read and (very) occasionally exchange thoughts with.

That should prove to be interesting, to say the least.
