Are you guys hearing these talking head pundits on tv twisting themselves into pretzels trying to put lipstick on this pig of a VP selection? It is laughable. We have to suspend a belief in reality and believe this alternate world that Biden is a good pick because:

1) He has been in Washington for 36 years, more than half his life and almost all of his adult life yet he is not part of the Washington DC insider's club because he takes Amtrak home everynight to nearby Deleware.

2) He is such a regular guy, he knows the train conductors by name (subtle implied message, since almost every time I have been on a train and the conductors/porters are usually African Americans, Biden is just a regular guy who gets along with working minorities)

3) He was born in Sranton, PA (so?!!)

4) He lost his wife in a car accident 36 years ago, and his daughter. Yes, it was a tragedy, we all have tragedies in our lives. My brother died from AIDS.

5) He relates to the working class, his mom was on food stamps. When is the last time he grabbed a beer with Joe 6 pack at the corner bar? When was the last time he had to worry about making the rent himself? What a blowhard

6) He brings experience to the ticket but it doesn't REALLY mean the top of the ticket lacked experience. After all the top of the ticket has the JUDGMENT to lead. Oh really? Are you trying to sell me swamp land, too?

7) Joe Biden knows the same foreign heads of states as McCain. Ummm, so, and John McCain is at the TOP of his party's ticket, not in the VP slot.

These are the ridiculous statements that these blowhards are robotically parroting on all of the news channels. BARF!!!

By the way, what is this so called scandal someone was illuding to about Palin and her sister's ex husband?

I really hope he picks Palin. Biden won't be able to be a butthole during the debate to an awesome woman of these credentials without looking like the butthole we know him to be in real life.

Let's be realistic here. I really like Palin. She will definately be in play for 2012. Alaska needs her right now and so does her 4 month old baby. We will most likely have a Jindal/Palin ticket for 2012.

The main concern for us now is to get McCain elected and kick Obama's ass into oblivion.

a capella on August 23, 2008 at 7:01 PM

My point is that the poll was taken before Obama announced his VP choice. Faced with the reality that McCain's VP selection is the only opportunity left for a woman to get a spot on the ticket, I wonder how that would change the numbers.

Speaking of polls, Scott Rasmussen said on the Hannity radio show that Sarah Palin would be McCain's best choice.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that his polling credentials are better than Lifetime's.

That Lifetime "poll" couldn't have been more obvious if it said "Please don't choose Palin!"

BTW, does anybody have a substantive argument against Palin? One that doesn't reek of sexism, or re-hash the smear attempt?

A charismatic, pro-life Governor who appeals to swing voters and highlights the domestic energy issue. That beats all the other choices.

Update: Bill Amos found the poll I was looking for. Why Pawlenty is better than Palin:

I have some doubts on those surveys. It was not a true random sample.

Methodology:

Republican pollster Kellyanne Conway of the polling company(TM), inc./WomanTrend and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners conducted the scientific poll via telephone interviews July 25-29, 2008. The sample was 500 women nationwide, with 100 additional African American women and 100 additional Hispanic women.

Wow!! Kind of hard on Sarah while just telling half the story. Typical liberal response--except for their own of course. As for feminists seeing her as a publicity stunt? Don't you grumps just wish!! I don't care what polls have to say about it. Feminists will cheer and get on board is my prediction--except possibly black feminists who will most certainly have schizoid issues about it. If I were not on board already, Sarah's inclusion would certainly put me there. As for losing her "cuteness"--that remark sounds like the junior high boys sitting at the back of the school bus.

I am more than a little sick of those folks making all the "rules" the debate format, the media coverage, and now how many houses participants can have. I think Senator Biden has enough baggage that we don't have to worry about how many homes our candidates own.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before (maybe I missed it), but am I the only one who has a hunch that Biden may NOT have been Obama's first choice? According to all reports he chose Biden on Thursday Night. That's awfully late in the game to be picking a VP, especially considering the announcement had been scheduled for Saturday well before that.

Oh, and as for the new Obama/Biden signs...at first glance you can hardly notice "Biden" on there. Hmmmmmmm?

The poll was conducted of 700 women voters nationwide, with an oversampling of African-American and Latina women. And its overall margin of error is +/- 4%.

Um, last I checked, we're trying to pick up white, working-class women, not minorities. Seriously sloppy work on your part, Allah.

Biden seems like a good choice, Auntie.

The press seems to really like him and he seems to upset your kind, too.

Another win for Obamai…another loss for the bitter bumpkins.

Oh I am DELIGHTED with Biden!
The press will crucify him for his gaffes and him and obambi...the clean and jerk team are practically writing McCains ads for him lol.

BTW are Republicans "bitter bumpkins" or "rich elitists"?
Need to get your story straight alphie.

Ah well, when McCain wins I am sure you will dissapear, just like your wimpy hero obambi will.

That's what it's going to take to win the fight for good jobs that let people live their dreams, a tax code that rewards work instead of wealth, and health care that is affordable and accessible for every American family.

I'm forget. Was Marx giving this speech today?

You know, it's probably not a very good idea to refer to voters as "bitter bumpkins". Indeed, since Gasbag Joe intends to milk his Scranton, PA roots, it's a doubly poor idea.

But you go right ahead and see how many votes you can round up for your buddies!
