The mystery here is why Pelosi is pushing him, especially with the drilling positions Edwards has taken.

Maybe it's because Nancy is going to need an ally when the Dems try to throw her out of her leadership position after they lose in November. Meanwhile she can pretend that she's a moderate in favor of drilling by pushing his candidacy.

the pick is Chet Edwards, it looks like. If you go to whois website and check up on www.obamaedwards.com, it says registrant is unavailable, but was registered in Chicago. You go to the page, and it says that page cannot be displayed. Sounds like they getting ready to upload

Shows that Obama wants it both ways on the issues.
He is against offshore drilling, but then again, Edwards is for it…On and on.
Very dumb move for a liberal.

This Chet guy seems more GOP than Dem. But, Obama's young and given his basic philosophy of taking the easy way, he'll prgobably live forever. So Chet's chances of bing Pres are slim to none.

Obama would have a time handling the strain of putting up with two strong willed women!

In her first two years in Congress, Jackson-Lee's staff reportedly had a 180 percent turnover rate, which was attributed by the Houston Press to overwork and bullying by the congresswoman. [9] Accordingly, House staffers unofficially voted her the "second meanest" member of the body as well as naming her "Biggest Windbag" and "Show Horse" in a 2006 Washingtonian article. [10]

Jackson-Lee has called for the names given to hurricanes and tropical storms to reflect all racial groups, including African-Americans. A racially charged e-mail misrepresenting her actual statements on this subject has circulated widely on the Internet. [11] In response, Bernard Goldberg included her in his book 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America.[1]

Not all that surprising that Chet won here outta the gate, he was hand picked by Marvin Leath back in the days when (reasonably) conservative Dems won Congressional seats in Texas. A couple crossed over, like Ralph Hall.

Chet won't though, he never really had to.

There me be something to this Chet Edwards idea. Last week Obama said he wanted to select someone who 'challenged his basic assumptions' and then would create a lively debate within the White House. None of the other possible candidates would challenge any of the liberal dogma points. This Chet guy would (allegedly). I guess we could then have a Mad Magazine/Penthouse style satire feature called 'The Chronicles of Barry and Chester.'

It's empirical anyway, so I'm not going to link to it, but there are studies that indicate that only massively egotistical men (and women) aspire to seek the presidency. Both McCain and Obama are willing to consider ANYBODY that they believe will help them win, and damn the political differences. Obama is being painted (appropriately) as an extremist, so why NOT pick a very conservative VEEP?

is it me or does it feel like all the momentum is behind McCain at this point?

It's not just you. All the shiny wrappings and ribbons are dull and crumpled now. The convention is going to be Olympic caliber stagecraft, but the "star" has been revealed to be a telepromter-addicted puppet who promises a Dead Baby in Every Linen Closet.

From what I've seen on some other lib sites, choosing Chet could indeed lead to a blow-out, for McCain. They simply will not allow him to choose someone who voted for the Iraq war. Every debate this man attended getting to the nomination he was putting himself up on the "I'm too superiorly intelligent to ever have even considered voting yes" pedestal. Hillary and Bill would personally throttle him. Unnnnnn-believable.

Edwards was also a junior golf champion. There's something the average American can really relate to.
