“Normally, in the pitched tabloid battle for exclusives, losing a competitive bombshell like the McCain scandal would send Perel into fits. Not this time. Five Enquirer reporters had spent more than a month in 2007 chasing down the same rumors but failed to uncover any documentary evidence. ‘I wouldn’t have run that piece, there was nothing in it,’ Perel told me recently about the Times story, which received widespread criticism when it ran. ‘It was filled with innuendo. . . . When you’re done reading it, you’re like, there’s no there there.’…
The Enquirer’s reporters are already out there, digging, hustling, and working their sources. ‘We are definitely looking into Obama. We hear a lot of tips. I can’t tell you how many things we hear all the time,’ Perel says. And, while the Enquirer has remained silent on the McCain-Iseman connection, Perel hasn’t killed the story for good. ‘Let’s just put it this way, I don’t think it’s dead,’ he says. ‘It doesn’t mean it’s right, but I don’t think it’s dead.’”

Obama Sinclair?

Leave it to the Enquirer to dig up the dirt on His Holiness. The campaign will be over by the end of the month.

How about…
“Obama the African-born” scandal?
“Obama the Muslim” scandal?
“Obama the friend of domestic terrorists” scandal?
jgapinoy on August 22, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Considering that magazine article Michelle Obama did a while back, in which she talked about not being in the same bed with Barry in the mornings, somehow this doesn’t surprise me.
AZCoyote on August 22, 2008 at 10:06 PM
What struck me about that is that the National Enquirer has more journalistic credibility than the NY Times!

Full marks to the Enquirer for keeping it entertaining.

Speaking of the National Enquirer……… anyone else see this:
I know that this has been floated before, but this is a Federal Court, and the “Dude” filing the suit……… says he…………… has……………. proof!
By the way……………… “Who’s your Daddi?”

I kinda liked it back when Enquirer headlines were “Boy, Trapped in Rrefrigerator Eats Own Foot To Survive” and the NYT actually printed articles that could be used as references for college term papers. Never thought I’d see the day when the Enquirer had overall better investigative reporting than the NYT.
The NYT should go to half sheet printing, with color, and place it in the checkout aisles at Piggly-Wiggly. Might improve their circulation.

Pics of Ubama with another man? Don’t discount it. I’m telling you Ubama has sugar in the tank. My gaydar is 96.72% right all of the time.
SouthernGent on August 22, 2008 at 10:37 PM
@ SouthernGent on August 22, 2008 at 10:37 PM
You sound like you are very familiar with “the gay”.
muyoso on August 22, 2008 at 10:47 PM
I think the “Obama is gay” rumor is ridiculous, but i’ll be damned if the “obama has sugar in his tank” line didn’t make me laugh out loud.
madne0 on August 22, 2008 at 10:48 PM
That’s why it was my first scandal suggestion.
jgapinoy on August 22, 2008 at 10:49 PM
If I had gaydar, I wouldn’t admit it.
jgapinoy on August 22, 2008 at 10:50 PM
Not to derail a thread but this instantly reminded me of a segment on the Mike Gallagher Show this morning about a “study” he was touting about the accuracy of “gaydar.” Seems they’ve officially proved the accuracy of gaydar and people are correct looking at photos………60 percent of the time. 60 percent! Wow! Mike was impressed, for some reason I do not know. I think I could reach 50 percent looking at photos blindfolded.

Gaydar stuff funny as hell too.

There’s a revelation. I thought public figgers pretty much had to accept and tolerate everything that is written about them.

I’m ready for the celebration if Biden is the one. Hey Joe, you’ve always been an arsehole. And you probably know it yourself, don’t you Joe? Arsehole.

TNR … *BLECH*
They’re even lower than The Nat’l Enquirer.
However, if Barry Obama’s “choom gang” started spilling their guts about the Chosen One, I’d bet the Nat’l Enq would be the first to know. They pay big bucks for info if the subject’s a high roller.
*OT, but by the way, speaking of that fish wrap rag TNR, Scott Beauchump is back. Not on TNR this time, but on Radar Online.
SilverStar830 on August 22, 2008 at 11:37 PM
McCain’s lack of morality when it comes to fidelity is confirmed by the candidate himself. He is a dog who was applying for a marriage license before he even divorced his first wife. Part of the reason I distrust McCain is the fact that one should never have faith in somebody who is unfaithful in their closest relationships.
That being said, I suspect that beyond the Wright scandal, the Ayers scandal, the Rezko scandal….. there is a personal Obama that isn’t the persona crafted for the media. Hoping that it gets exposed sooner rather than later.
highhopes on August 22, 2008 at 11:46 PM
I am. Indeed. Trust me when I tell y’all. I know it when I see it, and I see it with im.
SouthernGent on August 22, 2008 at 11:46 PM
What Edwards did is pretty disgusting. At the end of the day, his wife will pretty soon (as in she’ll live less than… say 15 years from now). You really CAN postpone f&cking around for several years. It isn’t that difficult.
It’s not even so much about infidelity of that he must love her or whatever. It’s that she needs basic attention, and it’s his duty to give it to her. Yes, it would require a non-trivial sacrifice on his part. It’d be less profound than what she’s going through.
freevillage on August 22, 2008 at 11:58 PM
Interesting – the NYT has less credibility now than the National Enquirer
Think_b4_speaking on August 23, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Maybe it’s that limo driver guy. Or maybe it’s this guy.
RushBaby on August 23, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Your timeframe is interesting to me. You’ve given Elizabeth Edwards less than 15 years and still talk about postponing other relationships for several years as a non-trivial sacrifice.
Call me old fashioned but that “in sickness and wellness til death we part” still means something to me.
highhopes on August 23, 2008 at 12:34 AM
Gaydar?
So Obama picked Biden because he’s the cutest?
profitsbeard on August 23, 2008 at 1:17 AM
SO ME THE MONEY!!!!
Kini on August 23, 2008 at 1:22 AM
OK, I’ll be Contrary Mary here. I don’t care if Obama is so gay that he’s not even the biological father of his little girls. They look like him, so I’m sure that’s not true. My point is, I’m extremely tired of this kind of crap. Leave their bedroom behavior alone.
The Edwards thing was only amusing because of his BS “two Americas” schtick. But for the good of ALL of John Edwards’s children, this story needs to go away. I feel most sorry for this little baby girl.
funky chicken on August 23, 2008 at 1:30 AM
Wow, The Enquirer more reputable than the NYT.
jukin on August 23, 2008 at 1:52 AM
…….and more profitable.
jukin on August 23, 2008 at 1:53 AM
I feel sorry for his wife, Elizabeth. What a hard choice. She’s terminal and that means leaving her children alone or with their father.
I feel sorry for his children.
He on the other hand only thought of himself.
Texas Gal on August 23, 2008 at 2:27 AM
Nah… Its good to ridicule the father of the Year
Hippocricy is best sanitized with sunlight, lots of it, and I don’t care what anyone says it has no place in politics when this guys says he represents ME!
-Wasteland Man.
P.S. yeah I feel sorry for his kids and wife but the shame should be all HIS and he should be rode out of politics on a Rail!
WastelandMan on August 23, 2008 at 2:45 AM
Generally, I’d agree with that. But when the candidate’s wife gives an interview and talks about how she doesn’t like to be in the same bed as the candidate because he’s “stinky and snore-y” — it’s going to invite comment and speculation. If they don’t want that, they should keep their lips zipped about their personal lives.

I think it would be another resume’ enhancement. The Hollywood crowd would go wild. And if it didn’t become an agenda I could give a flying flip myself.
Cindy Munford on August 23, 2008 at 8:12 AM
I think that ship’s already sailed, gap… don’t think SouthernGent’s really tipping his hat here… those who’ve been lurking as long as I have would know that. :-)
SouthernGent, it was two Atlanta natives, one male + one female, from whom I first heard the term “gaydar”… made me laugh out loud! They pretty much had the drop on anybody they met. Both were also in committed relationships but the -dar was ever vigilant.
Speaking of barriers: when are we going to see our first openly gay Presidential nominee? Where are the fevered clamors, the midnight strategy sessions, the expressions of indignant outrage from Dem supporters, etc.?

So, you’re telling me that my suspicions about Richard Simmons might have a little weight?

The National Enquirer – doing the dirty work of journalism that the lying, treasonous MSM won’t do.

And there is a comment there with a link stating McCain’s birth in the Canal zone doesn’t qualify either…
Please, oh please; let us scrap these two and start this election over. Maybe we can get better choices if we can try again.
