How many times can the DNC mention that Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) is a Jew? In their pre-emptive attack website on every potential candidate for John McCain’s running mate, they manage to work it into their text five times in six paragraphs. They even helpfully note that disgraced former lobbyist Jack Abramoff is also Jewish, just in case Democrats missed that key point about his guilt:

According to the Times Picayune, Rep. Eric Cantor was “the marquee guest” at the event which sought to raise money from the Jewish community. I guess Barack Obama was right after all. This election will see dirty smears based on identity politics. He just got the party wrong. This didn’t come from a blogger or an e-mail kook — this comes from the DNC itself. In 660 words, they manage to use a derivative of the word Jew five times in attacking Cantor. They never explain why this forms such a strong theme in their opposition of Cantor, but apparently they believe that Democrats won’t need an explanation to oppose Jews.
When will Barack Obama attack this real racism from his own party with the same amount of vigor that he falsely accused Republicans of engaging in it?
Addendum: Defenders of the DNC could say, “Well, hey, all of these are just quotes from newspapers like The Hill and the Picayune” — which would be true. The DNC, however, just managed to pick five quotes that contain five references to Cantor and/or Abramoff’s religion? Let’s imagine the response that would erupt on the Left if the RNC did the same thing to Obama. Even Bill Clinton’s single reference to Jesse Jackson’s win in South Carolina got him branded as a race-card player — and that didn’t involve tying Obama to a criminal on the basis of his skin color.
Heck, we don’t have to imagine this at all. Remember all the cries of “racism” when the subject of Jeremiah Wright finally aired?

Antisemitism is nothing new in the national Democratic Party. Recall that Jesse Jackson is the author of the infamous remark that “I am sick and tired of hearing about the holocaust”. He also said in 1979 that Jews were responsible for “promoting fights in South Africa”. Let us not forget that James Zogby, a virulent antiIsrael activist, is a key figure within national Democratic party activities. Also, Representative Nick Rahall is a prominent national Democrat. Should we mention Democratic US Representative James Moran who charged that the Iraq war was a product of the Jews.
By the way, Barack Obama would not defend Israel when he was in Europe. He talked about terrorism that spread from “London, Madrid, Bali…” but Obama deliberately refused to include Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, both of which have been the worst victims of terrorism. Obama wanted rapt applause from his Euro audience and he felt that defending anything about Israel might result in boos from some leftist antiSemites in Europe so he just pretended that there was no such place called Israel.

I am writing on a blog, and do not write three drafts of everything in order to be absolutely clear. I guess I will explain.
The first quote of mine that you make was in response to this:
I took offense with the impression this gives that I treat Israel or Jewish people as homogeneous. At the time we were discussing actions of the Israeli government, and I wanted to point out that my criticisms of any government do not extend to its people, and if I criticize the Israeli government, that does not mean I am including all “Jewish people” in that critique.
Later, someone made the insane comment that if I went to Israel I would be beheaded. Your second quote is a response to this ridiculous comment. I showed how this was insane by pointing out some experiences from the Christians carrying crosses through Iran, and then wanted to make the point that all societies have extremist elements, so I pointed out the stories about Jewish wackos. It is probable that I was reacting to the juvenile beheading comment, and if I inadvertently gave the impression that I thought all Israelis acted in this way, then I make it clear now that it is not how I feel. It is true that I do criticize groups from different countries. I merely try, in general, to direct my criticisms to those responsible. My comment: “Now that’s civilized society” was uncalled for, because it says that I am holding all of Israeli society to account for the actions of an extremist group. This is a less than intellectual response to the insane beheading comment. That said, in general, I think societies can be different, and I think it is clear that Israeli and American society is degerating morally. Again, this does not include all individuals.
IMO, the far right in generalizes everything. If a Jew was violently attacked in Iran, and an Iranian came to his rescue, and the Iranian who tried to save the Jew was stabbed because of the fact that he tried to help the Jew, how would people here react? Would they criticize the person? Maybe the extremist group that he belongs to? Or would people say that “iranians are animals,” or, even further, “Muslims are animals.” I think the latter. Recently there was a thread about a critical mass bicyclist getting creamed by a cop for no reason. People pointed out stories where critical mass riders commited crimes, and used that as justification for the police attack. The logic is: some members of the group did something bad, so all members of the group deserve to get assaulted because they belong to the same group. This is the reasoning of a psychopath, and that is what I was getting at.
If you want to discuss any aspect of the M & W book, or any other serious issue, instead of critiquing every word I write, I would be happy to do so.

The reference given for the quote is a book by Shabti Teveth titled “Ben-Gurion: The Burning Ground, 1886-1948″ on page 544. Get the book and see if the quote is there. Maybe you can show me they are liars.
Here’s another. They quote Bernard Lewis on page 58 as saying:
The reference given is an article in Foreign Affairs titled “Rethinking the Middle East,” Vol. 71 No. 4 (Fall, 1992), page 110-11. I checked that one for you. It is there. Why don’t you tell me where they lied, or otherwise went wrong. I am sure you read the book since you are able to denounce it.

If “DAVE” knew anything about his source “Teveth” at all; he put this into the correct context, that showed that Ben Gurion was extremely pragmatic, and that though he didn’t agree with the Palestinian views (as is obvious from the quote above); at least he understood them and the way thought; which made him extremely intelligent, actually.
Thus, no surprise, “DAVE” completely misses the point!

In my first post I only explained why I thought it happened. The only other possible debate topic that came up was the M & W book. I have the book in front of me, and am ready to debate whatever you’d like. What do you want to talk about? Please. Let’s engage in an honest debate.

Obama has said a lot of stupid things recently, but the idea that totalitarian eye-candy engineering proves Beijing is the better than America is near the top of the list.

So our “charging into” Iraq–with dozens of allies, supported by a U.N. resolution, as a last resort after six months of build-up and negotiations, to unseat one of the cruelest dictators of modern times who had twice invaded neighboring states, was in violation of more than a dozen U.N. resolutions and was responsible for the deaths of something like two million people, who was shooting at American aircraft and had tried to assassinate a former President of the United States, in Obama’s childish mind, was just like Russia’s “charging into” Georgia, which resembles Saddam’s Iraq in no respect. And, of course, we invaded a horrifying charnel-house so as to establish a democracy, whereas Russia invaded a peaceful democracy that it wants to re-incorporate into its empire.
Is Obama an idiot? I don’t think so, really. But one of the many problems with being a leftist is that it leads you to say lots of stupid things. Today, the Obama gaffe machine went into overdrive. By November, I suspect that most voters will have heard enough to know that Barack Obama is unqualified to be a middle-manager in a well-run company, let alone President of the United States.

There are dozens of Obama threads on this blog to go to if you want to talk about Obama. I think Obama is an ass. I certainly am not voting for him. Unlike you I have no reading comprehension problem and make an effort to read everything at provided links. Nowhere in the Wiki article do M&W call there work a “piece of biased, shoddy crap”, or anything close to that. M&W stand by their work according to the Wiki article. It also says a lot about you linking to just the “Criticism” portion of the Wiki article instead of the main link for the whole page.
Using Noam Chomsky to back up your assertions is hilarious. But you haven’t a clue. You are shy about 156 words from your normal 1,000 word plus rants. And we’re still waiting on your answer to, “dave742 on August 21, 2008 at 5:01 PM, which points out what a real reading comprehension problem looks like.
