New McCain ad: “The One” shall lead us to Denver

posted at 4:02 pm on August 21, 2008 by Allahpundit

The best material’s recycled from the first ad but note the new cameos by Pelosi and Tim Kaine. A Rezko spot would have been better today but it seems McCain’s in love with this meme, and given the poll trends, who can blame him? Get your Rezko fix here instead. Exit question: What do I have to do to get the attention of McCain’s ad department about adding the clip of Hillary mocking The One’s celestial choirs? I thought for sure we’d see it at the end here. Are they saving it? Or is she planning to tape a whole new version for them after she gets turned down as VP?

He’s targeting Tim Kaine. Could the McCain campaign know something we don’t?

Ayers/Wheather Underground ad at link

The ad — entitled “Know Enough?” — begins with a simple, yet pointed question: “Beyond the speeches, how much do you really know about Barack Obama?”

Topsecretk9 on August 21, 2008 at 4:12 PM

BEST AD EVER!!!! Keep pounding this dufus! Everywhere…all the time…in every market…with a singular message…we the American People will not be “led” by a “Savior” but will be governed by a “leader” who believes that America is the best and brightest and the hope of mankind for Freedom in the modern world!!!

sabbott on August 21, 2008 at 4:13 PM

Why don’t they use some footage of Biden bashing him. Would be better to use the Dems own words against the One. Hard to accuse McCain of bashing him if he shows clips of HIllary or Biden doing it in his place.

DerKrieger on August 21, 2008 at 4:15 PM

I really hope McCain has gotten copyright approval for using the ten commandments clips over and over again.

They have to keep mocking. The media hates it, but not as much as The One himself.

What will he do for an encore in Denver, since he’s already predicted the ocean’s receding and the planet healing?

Eternal life through service to the state?

Nichevo on August 21, 2008 at 4:20 PM

And Obama still hasn’t learned yet. He just said that he has picked his candidate, but isn’t ready yet to announce it to the world.

Laughing my head off! That is so delicious. And oh my, ‘the one’ is surely gonna be pissed as hell over that! He got his ‘feelings hurt’ and his thin skin burned badly over the Paris and Brittney ad…..I can’t get this grin off my face thinking about how he is going to react to this!!!

More please…..more.

JiangxiDad on August 21, 2008 at 4:24 PM

Note that Obama’s seal no longer emerges from the parted sea. It was a stupid controversy to begin with, but I suppose no need to let something like that get in the way of the larger message.

nailinmyeye on August 21, 2008 at 4:25 PM

Should have ended with “I’m John McCain, I approve this message and I own several houses.”
Brat on August 21, 2008 at 4:20 PM

I could see that. As McCain says this – standing there from one of Cindy’s houses that they both own, and were Cindy’s relative is living. Just after, she comes out of the house and asks, “Nice to see you John,” and McCain replies “Who are you? What are you doing in one of my houses that the DNC says I own?” “Why, I live here, silly!” She replies. “Oh, that’s right. Carry on!” McCain smiles.

“Would you like an iced tea, John?” She askes. “Sure, I’ll be right in!” And McCain walks into one of the Seven houses that he owns… Fade to Black.

wise_man on August 21, 2008 at 4:26 PM

Or is she planning to tape a whole new version for them after she gets turned down as VP?

LOL!!!!……….

The Ugly American on August 21, 2008 at 4:26 PM

Someone was way ahead of the curve ….

“The Muslim world, and terrorists thereof, hate Americans because of Bush’s nation building. When I am president, peoples of the whole world, including our Muslim friends, will love America again and we will once again bask in the Utopia that only I can bring forth. Any terrorist attacks ocurring prior to election day should be viewed as the Muslim world taking a stand against Bush, and clamouring for the new world order, ordained and promised by me, the Messiah.

So let it be written, so let it be done.”

One of two reasons, first the need to know who’s going to be VP and the other is that McCain may have problems using the words of fellow senators with whom he has served for so many years. I think his love for the institution of the Senate will be like W’s love for the office of the Presidency. You don’t see the President bash former presidents and I think you will agree Jimmy Carter has given him plenty of reason.

Cindy Munford on August 21, 2008 at 4:28 PM

Wow. How can McCain expect anyone to take him seriously with ads like this. The next one should include a favorite quote of mine in the interest of fairness… “I feel like God wants me to run for President.”-George W. Bush.

I’m so appalled at his response the Born Alive discussion that I just can’t get my mind around this evil prick as POTUS!

sabbott on August 21, 2008 at 4:29 PM

If McCain is going to keep this up he should make an ad with ALL those fainting fans and Barack tossing them water and bringing attention to thier blight.

EJDolbow on August 21, 2008 at 4:29 PM

That was a great ad. I used to have a bumper sticker on an old car that said, “Charlton Heston is My President”. I got a lot of compliments on that one.
Exit question? You Allah, could not do a better job. Ed is great too and I wouldn’t think I’m alone in saying we miss Bryan. Keep up the great work, this is by far my favorite news site and I spend far to much time on it as it is…. when I really shouldn’t be.

There’s been some signs of weakening among the under-30 haven’t-a-clue crowd for Obama. It’s not the ads which do it, apparently — it’s the bad-tempered response by Obama.

Yeah let’s have a real debate between Obama and McCain on the economy. Obama will have to admit that the gazillions of dollars of new government programs he has planned will necessitate monster tax increases. McCain will be talking about reducing the side of government and keeping taxes low (which, btw sends tax revenue through the roof–look at the revenue increase of the GW’s second term as an example). Let’s see who wins.

Please, please, please keep talking about the Dim plans for the economy! Most American voters are smart enough to understand that Obama’s plan to raise taxes, vastly increase the size of the federal government, and keep us dependent on foreign oil for the next several decades is a recipe for disaster.

So keep talking about it, please. Never, never stop.

sgt_rich on August 21, 2008 at 5:11 PM

Well I like the ‘stupid ads’! Sometimes a laugh or light hearted moment is precisely what’s needed. And it highlights how ‘very seriously’ the one takes himself. Sure, we can and should speak of the important issues, but not every darn minute. Give me a belly chuckle to brighten the day and get my attention any day.

Gracious goodness, the BEST part of the entire ad is how it leads into Obama himself doing the Moses on the Mount routine over and over again.

McCain didn’t digitally put an Obamatron behind a podium ~ Obama showed up and spaketh such scheisse all on his own!

The real question will be, when this ad airs (as I hope it will), how many Mom ‘n Pops in West Virginia or Ohio are gonna look at each other quizzically and ask:

“Did I hear that right? Did he really say that?”

Jill1066 on August 21, 2008 at 7:06 PM

As a Christian, I find the comparison between Obama and Jesus Christ offensive. Yeah, I know Obama’s the one who initiated it with the help of the idiots in the MSM, and with his comment of “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for” — which is only one example. I don’t see any reason that McCain needs to continue it though. There are plenty of substantive issues that we can hit Obama on like domestic policy, his support for infanticide, foreign policy, past and present relationships like Wright, Ayers, Rezco, Pfleger, etc.

Yes, McCain has been hitting him on those issues too, but why risk offending a substantial portion of the American population with this comparison when there are more substantive routes of attack?

Regards,

Jim C

JimC99 on August 21, 2008 at 7:14 PM

I sort of feel the way you do. But he is the ‘anointed’, just not by God; rather, by the MSM, Oprah and foreigners.

I’m just glad to see someone ridiculing his messianic complex and satisfied to see McCain benefiting from it.

Though, as an aside, I must admit that a McCain administration would probably be intolerable, just not quite as horrific as an Obama administration. I am thinking of adopting the Coulter Option and voting for Hillary; write-in if I must.)

Does that make me a bad person?
