[...] Ed speculated this morning that “maximum publicity” probably means Thursday so that he can carry the buzz over to Friday and then ride it through the weekend. I agree. Okay, kids, time to show your cards: Who will it be? The smart money says Biden, who’s just back from Georgia with a feather in his cap and whose foreign policy advisor, Tony Blinken, was coincidentally “vacationing” last week in … Hawaii. Even so, leaking the names of Bayh, Biden, and Kaine seems odd when Obama’s playing everything else so close to the vest. Almost seems like a deliberate decoy, designed to draw us away from the actual nominee so that when the announcement drops it’ll go off like a nuclear blast. You don’t suppose… [...]

Of course it's a head fake. Hillary is going to be on the ticket one way or another-and so is Barry- and this was decided MONTHS ago. Face it, the dems are running the greatest propaganda campaign ever, effectively keeping McCain out of the mainstream press, with the exception of his gaffes and when Barry's on vacation. In doing so, they've convinced a huge voter block-those that really don't do their homework and get their voting knowledge through TV and 3 minute sound clips-that Barry's the Man. Supposedly stringing Hillary along throughout the primaries was a brilliant way of hogging the media spotlight. It's a done deal, folks. The only question was-who gets the top slot? And now you know the rest of the story...

First off, I haven't quite counted Clinton out of the nomination yet. She's got a lot of pull with the party elders. Yanking the nomination out from under him at the convention would lose her the general election- though I doubt she sees it that way.

As for why would she take the VP slot, two reasons come to mind:

1. To my knowledge no VP to date has been female, thus she would get to make history as the first woman to serve as VP.

2. Should Obama have to resign for some reason (what's that video tape you have there Senator Clinton?) she'll be in postion to be the first woman to serve as President. That also makes history.

But Clinton isn't the one I'm really worried about. It is my understanding that the convention can nominate anyone they choose for the ticket, not just candidates that ran campaigns. With the state of the Democrat party and the weakness of both the remaining candidates I fear the superdelegates might settle on someone other than Clinton or Obama in an effort to pacify the candidate loyalists of both sides. There is only one Democrat I can think of that could possibly sweep into the convention and be nominated with any real chance of succeeding in November: Al Gore.

Gore already has the grassroots organization needed to win an election in position with his global warming alarmists, with the righteous indignation factor for having had the presidency "stolen" from him in 2000, and a freshness from not running for president for the better part of the last two years. I think the real threat is waiting for the superdelegates to call on him to come save the day.

No, but Hillary might name Obama her running mate after the "floor vote suprise".

There's a reason they're setting up those holding pens in Denver, it's not for if the humanoids get restless, it's for when the left goes nuts when the convention throws the nom to Hillary.

I just have a feeling that alot of those super delegates are starting to realize what more and more of the public is becomming aware of every day: Obama just can't hack it.

Evidence you could be right: check out the 10 day forecast for Denver. Unseasonably cool except for Thursday when the high should hit 87.

And if you're interested, look at the high temps forecast for Colorado Springs for the next few days. BRRRRRRRR

Dude, I'm thinking as long as Lieberman is under serious consideration by McCain, we need to go all the way. Liebs is a flaming lib on everything other than the war, so if the GOP is ok with that, then they should consider McCain needs a women or an African American to round out his ticket even more. So, if liberal democrat is ok, let's see if AL Sharpton will put his name up in lights with Backdoor John.

Count on it folks! Why else all the face time for the Clintoons. It will be a unititation of the Obamanation. The Dems will swoon, the media will tinkle down its leg and puddle around its feet, Chrissy Matthews will faint, Olberdork will have a heart attack the stars will align, and a great brilliant light will shine down upon Broncos stadium.
Hopefully the light will be followed by thunder, torrential rains and high winds, fire and brimstone.
Bill will be ambassador to the United Nations and the world will unite until they find Obama face down in his bathtub some morning.
The only way this doesn't happen is if Mccain picks Hillary first, that way they won't have to work so hard to get rid of the old guy.
Seriously, if this happens as I think it has been set up to McCain will need to pick Palin and run on oil production and family values. This oil production needs to be used and that problem solved.

Not happening.

The only way the fanciful scenario can be played out is for Barry to go back on his word to all the people he's suckered in to joining up the Be The First To Know.

He has to name is pick before the convention. And there's no way Hillary can have her Clinton night at the Convention is she's the already-known VP selection. She'd completely upstage him.

Barry needs a jump start badly. His hope and change M.O. needs refurbishing after the position changes, embarrassment of being caught accepting donations from "old politics" donors he pledged to avoid, and whiffs on foreign policy. He needs a eye opening, publicity grabbing stunt. Hillary would be his best bet,..if she won't do it, I think he's toast.

Put Bayh in blackface I swear he's Obama's twin. As narcissistic as Obama is, that will appeal to him. Oh, the blackface comment? If someone doesn't do it within a week of the Obama-Bayh announcement, I'll be disappointed. Heck, I'll do it if no one else will. I'll even learn Photoshop if I have to. I swear they're twins.

I think it will be Bayh. But Hillary would be the smart pick. ("It's the smart move -- see 'The Godfather'") When Obama is laying down in the dirt like Paul Newman in the ending of the movie 'Sweet Bird of Youth', his face stomped on and bloodied, he'll wish he picked Hillary instead of Bayh.

I doubt that this would happen.

1. There is way too much bad blood between the two camps and many in both of those camps would take this as either a "betrayal" or a "sell out".

2. Hillary is not going to play second fiddle to Barak. Not only that she knows he is a disaster in the making and when his shite hits the fan she would rather be on the sidelines saying "I told you so.".

3. It really wouldn't get them anything, really. At this point in the game Obama stinks as much as Hillary does.

4. And the most important point...

Hillary was offered the VP spot (or any other position she desired)in that meeting that her and Obama had at Diane Feinstein's house back in June. She replied with a very terse "thanks but no thanks" with the implied meaning of "stick it where the sun don't shine, buddy". Her attitude was described to me by someone who knows what happened there as "it ain't over". Why would she now accept the VP slot from Obama now when she is in a position of advantage? She would gain nothing from it and perhaps lose a great deal. This is now about much more then the nomination, this is now about who controls the party.
