Video: Newt wants to give you a year’s free gas

Drill here, drill now, pay … nothing? That could be true for one lucky participant in a new YouTube contest at American Solutions. Newt Gingrich takes a moment away from goldbricking on YouTube (with the latest JibJab) to explain the concept:
This is your chance to demonstrate to Congress and the American people why a “Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less” approach is best for your wallet and your country.
Try to think outside-the-box. Here are a few examples:
- Showcase your sense of humor or your musical talents.
- Think about pop culture and current events.
- Think about your favorite movie and how it would have changed with $4/gallon gasoline.
We do ask that you try to follow a few guidelines:
- Keep your videos short and to-the-point. Videos should not exceed 2 minutes.
- Keep your focus on the issue, not personal attacks.
I’m certain that many people can come up with a creative idea pr two for a short video on how gas prices impact consumers. The contest deadline is September 15th, and the winner will be announced at the first anniversary celebration of American Solutions.

I was wondering if someone would bring that up, pseudonominus. Maybe someone would submit a black and white video with a old woman and man sit on a loveseat in front of the capitol talking about the virtues of drilling for oil. Cause that would be great.

So, Mad Max kills fifteen people in order to take over an old Exxon station. Then, as he goes to the pump, which says $7 a gallon, it also says “empty”. He is then overrun and captured by a bunch of Arabs who yell “Our pumps are full!” as they behead him.
I wonder if I can sign Mel Gibson to reprise his roll.

Too easy! Opening shot of a pre-teen girl holding this while explaining how she learned that law of supply and demand can explain the prices of everything from comic books to gasoline, then explaining why Pelosi doesn’t want gasoline prices to drop.
She would finish with a simple question. “I thought America’s elected officials were supposed to do what is best for us. I guess I’ll have to read this next.”

I’m thinking Speed would be a good candidate. Due to the high price of diesel, the bus is only filled half-way. Bus runs out of gas, and as it slows, it blows Keanu Reeves to smithereens. Hilarity ensues.

Well their video could have been made to be 30 to 45 seconds, and gotten the point across. But maybe that’s the point. They want to use a casually created video to solicit as many entries as possible. They can always take the original idea and sharpen it for final use if needed.
