Rielle Hunter’s sister: Oddly enough, the baby looks like John Edwards

Another tough break for Andrew Young, whose quest to claim paternity of his daughter continues to meet quirky little stumbling blocks. Like, for example, people in a position to know telling Fox News, “There was no relationship between [Rielle] and Andrew Young.” Or the alleged mother of his child allegedly being whisked away by private jet to parts unknown two days before Silky’s penance on ABC. A key detail from that last link: According to the Enquirer, Edwards did end the affair and reveal it to his wife — before restarting it, which might help explain (a) why he and Hunter were still being photographed together just before New Year’s when he claims to have confessed earlier in 2006; (b) what one source who spoke to People magazine meant when he said of Edwards, cryptically, “He told the truth slowly”; (c) why Hunter’s sister would claim to Entertainment Tonight that the relationship not only started before she began working for the campaign (contra Silky) but that it never really ended, an allegation also made by Hunter’s friend Pigeon O’Brien; and of course (d) how a guy who claims it was over by 2006 might have fathered a child born in 2008.

To put in perspective for you just how low Silky’s credibility has sunk even on the left, yesterday’s edition of “Hardball” featured Salon editor Joan Walsh and New York magazine writer John Heilemann (responsible for this recent TPM-ish excrescence) and neither one of them could have been any more skeptical of Edwards’s story than if they were RNC spokesmen. I said last week that I thought he’d recover from this eventually but now I’m not so sure. Click the image to watch.

This is such garbage. Edwards is such a sleazy no good fellow.

I’m at the point that I could care less what happened with Eddy, if he decided to cheat on his wife, thats his business. However, I don’t want to hear the lefties preach to me about the upright moral structure of their politicians.

Bishop on August 13, 2008 at 8:56 PM

John Edwards cannot be a stupid guy. He’s come a very long way and generally stupid people don’t do that. So it’s baffling to think he could have gotten himself into such an unbelievable mess and continued to increase it at every key stage.

You would think. But people in positions of power can and do this. And for the reasons?

All of which fed a self-focus, an egotism, a narcissism that leads you to believe that you can do whatever you want. You’re invincible. And there will be no consequences. And nothing, nothing could be further from the truth.

and

“I think I did something for the worst possible reason — just because I could. I think that’s the most , just about the most morally indefensible reason that anybody could have for doing anything. When you do something just because you could.

As well as some men like the ones here, do their thinking, not with their brains.

Silky spent his entire professional life using significant skill to mesmerize 12 very carefully selected people to his side of a story. Many millons of dollars convinced him he could do it to anyone. However, the entire public is not as carefully vetted for convincibility – and Silky never got that.

eeyore on August 13, 2008 at 9:24 PM

What if some terrorist group or other nefarious democrat operative black mailed Edwards into doing various sundry things vis a vis the Justice Department? There is no doubt in my mind he was to be our Attorney General and be just yet.

SouthernGent on August 13, 2008 at 9:26 PM

According to the Enquirer, Edwards did end the affair and reveal it to his wife — before restarting it, …

Nah, that’s not what happened. I have read so much here and there I can’t link it but his wife knew he as cheating on her. Someone said that Elizabeth was calling around looking for Hunter (probably trying to find her husband). She confronted him, he denied it, she didn’t believe him (he is the world’s worse liar) and then he cracked and confessed. He didn’t volunteer this information out of the goodness of his heart. Come on, Allah! You’re a man. He either promised or she made him promise to end it. Hunter said she was fired 12/28/2006. Personally, I think they started up again as soon as he thought he could get away with it.

Oh, and I heard the baby looks just like John Edwards in a Onesie.

Blake on August 13, 2008 at 9:27 PM

I heard a writer or editor from NE say she was flown out of the country by private jet and is taking a 50k vacation. Must be nice. They know where she is and will probably release it next week or later.

Blake on August 13, 2008 at 9:31 PM

The baby was born with a full head of hair, a mirror, and a brush.

For someone who hangs out with a Bear of Very Little Brain…. I think you hit the nail on the head. The guy thought he was invincible, he said as much in his “confession.” I have to say, though, I’m still baffled as to Elizabeth Edwards’ involvement in this situation. What did she know, and when did she know it?

What eeyore said… oh, and the fact the media has never asked him a tough question, not even once, in all the times he spewed out fatuous pandering tripe that was transparently designed to incite grievances and create a victim class, rather than solve any problem. That might have contributed to the feeling of invincibility a little bit too, ya think?

There is such sweet irony in the way the MSM’s loving protection of any Dem lulls them into the belief that their half-baked junior high insights and “policies” could be attractive to any but the clueless sector of the electorate.

That we know of. His philandering has been well established. He’s done it with willing partners, he’s done it with ones that werent. He could be doing this right now. All it takes is for both parties to be quiet, and for no one to get angry and spill the beans. Money usually keeps people(women) from getting angry, or spilling the beans.

Usually.

Seems like nothing instills traditional marital values in the wives of Leftist pols like hubby catching a bout of the ol’ infidelity…just ask Tammy Wynette Hillary Clinton.

(Unless, of course, they are defending the rights of women in exotic places such as Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Jordan, Syria, or “Palestine”, to name a few)

wise_man on August 13, 2008 at 10:41 PM

A kindred soul! Let me be clear that you don’t go nearly this far in your statements but I personally think that Bill Clinton is a textbook example of a serial rapist. His power and prestige has skewed the dynamics where some sex was with willing partners and some sex with unwilling partners was able to be covered up by state troopers, secret service agents, and others. Were it not for talent, Clinton would be serving time in some Arkansas prison for sexual assault.

highhopes on August 13, 2008 at 10:55 PM

Edwards, at least, had an affair with somebody who was closer to being an intellectual and social equal.

Uh, not quite. Lewinski had a college degree, went on to obtain a masters, and had an interest in politics.

Hunter dropped out of college, went on to study astrology, chakras, and crystals, and had an interest in marrying rich and powerful men.

Both women came from upper middle class backgrounds. Monica’s father is an oncologist; Hunter’s father was an attorney. Hunter’s father insured her horse so he could electrocute it and collect the insurance proceeds.

I think Monica comes out on top in this one.

Blake on August 13, 2008 at 11:04 PM

*shrugs* Sometimes I spend more time on a comment.

It’s interesting, the circumstances surrounding clinton. And while he is held in high esteem with his fans, And he is not actually a serial rapist, you are correct in your opinion as presented. I think that there are similar though patters between clinton and a serial rapist. Under different circumstances, he could very well be incarcerated.

Notice that Ronald Reagan has the prestige of being an actor, and then later president. With Power. Same with George W Bush. And while it may be the fantasy of the left who would like to think so, they were/are faithful with their wifes. They were and are faithful to their duties and responsibilities. Their thought patterns, and the reason that they do and said the things they did was not “because they could” or because “they believed they could do whatever they wanted” … These two example are of people with a stronger character than clinton and edwards.

In my opinion, this goes hand in hand with leadership. The people who use power and don’t abuse it in their personal life will seldom do it on an official level. Those who do in their personal life, and betray their sworn vows to their wives when they were married, won’t think twice about doing so while in public office. My opinion. Of course this does not hold absolutely true 100% of the time, and not every republican is good, not all democrats are bad. That being said, Reagan and Bush are in my opinion, good. And clinton and edwards are pond scum, poor excuses for human beings.

wise_man on August 13, 2008 at 11:06 PM

The more and more I hear of this story, the more I think Edwards fathered the child.

That being said, Rielle must not be very close to her sister. In the interview, she says she saw pictures of the baby. If you were sisters, wouldn’t you have seen it in-person by now?

You know way to much about this for it to be be normal! ;-0

Despite your encylepedic knowledge of political “mistresses” I’d still disagree for two reasons.

First, the age differential. Despite Monica’s beliefs, there was no way that Bill would leave Clinton for a fat stupid twenty-something groupie. Hunter is closer in age to Edwards and could conceivably be the trophy wife.

Secondly, what does college or an interest in politics have to do with this? I could as easily paint Hunter as an “unconventional artist” as your description of her as a college drop out trolling for a sugar daddy. As you say, they both come from similar backgrounds so it all comes down to what is less sleazy. Hiring your mistress to you campaign staff seems less dirty to me than screwing an intern in the oval office.

Finally, I can’t believe I even got sucked into this discussion!

Edwards is the most transparent slug since Bill Clinton.

The only difference is that Edwards has none of BJ’s formidable political talent or smarmy charm.

mylegsareswollen on August 14, 2008 at 12:05 AM

First, the age differential. Despite Monica’s beliefs, there was no way that Bill would leave Clinton for a fat stupid twenty-something groupie. Hunter is closer in age to Edwards and could conceivably be the trophy wife.

There is the age difference. However, there is no way Edwards would ever marry Hunter. She is not a trophy wife. She is not accomplished, not beautiful, and not smart. She is heavily into this new age nonsense and she would be an embarrassment every time she opens her mouth. More than a few people have documented the crazy things that come out of her mouth.

Secondly, what does college or an interest in politics have to do with this? I could as easily paint Hunter as an “unconventional artist” as your description of her as a college drop out trolling for a sugar daddy.

You are the one who brought up intellectual equals. Edwards would have a greater interest in politics than cleansing diets, high colonics, and ashrams. She has produced no art, unconventional or otherwise. Her one artistic venture – “webisodes” are terrible. It is she, not me, who said she knew said she wanted to meet rich and powerful men. And she is a college drop out – that is a fact.

As you say, they both come from similar backgrounds so it all comes down to what is less sleazy. Hiring your mistress to you campaign staff seems less dirty to me than screwing an intern in the oval office.

You can’t get dirtier than screwing a married man with small children and a dying wife and hoping to break up the marriage. And getting knocked up, too boot.

Finally, I can’t believe I even got sucked into this discussion!

Too late, now. It’s the battle of the bimbos!
