Come on folks, cut this ignorant San Francisco leghumper some slack. Her book was a huge failure, so now she wants to grab up lobby money. /Sarcasm

Nancy, HELP me understand. Drilling on OCS and ANWR won't help us, because we "ONLY" have 3% of the world's oil reserves, but releasing some oil from the SPR, which supplies only a few days of gasoline is the "WAY TO GO?
"

YOU, Nancy could help oil prices PLUMMET IMMEDIATELY if you stood up and said, "WE ARE OPENING UP ALL AREAS OF THE UNITED STATES territory to DRILLING, beginning TOMORROW"

Try that Nancy, and see if you don't scare the speculators.

There is a conprehensive in the house sitting in committee. This protest by the Republicans isn't just about the drilling in the OCS. There is another bill called the American Energy Act HR 6656 in committee tht the Republicans are trying to get brought to the house floor for a vote. They can't get enough signatures on the discharge petition to force it to the floor with out some Dem signatures and so far they are staying in lock step with their fearless leader Nancy Pelosi.
So this isn't jsut about being allowed to drill the outer continential shelf there is much more to it, and the Dems are all on vacation. Not a way to run a country.
I remember a few years ago how much grief they gave President Bush for taking a vacation. Of course the Main Stream Media is completely ignoring what is going on on Capitol Hill just like they did with the Edwards affair or any good news out of Iraq. The news crews attitude is "If we don't report it, it never happened".
Makes you wonder how much else they deemed not suitable for your information.

And, of course, with war in the Caucasus threatening energy supplies, this is the perfect time to short the US’s strategic reserve, intended to ensure our military operations around the world. Brilliant!

Pelosi will allow a vote…and the bill voted on will be skewed in such a way as to force the Republicans to vote against it. I envision a vote on allowing drilling in the US and OCS ONLY after those 63 million acres of present leased lands are drilled first…at great expense, and the finding of no oil or economically improbable recovery of any oil found.

Thus, the Dems will have a new meme for November…the Republicans refuse to drill.

.
That, or she will wait for the gang of ten idiots to give her a useless compromise bill, that allows almost no drilling, but she can claim to have acted.

The GOP should stop trying to advance a plan or vote and concentrate on the reauthorization in Oct. If they can prevent the reauth. then they win. After that they can work with the Dems to develop a long term energy strategy and then once they do, leave it alone for at least a decade. Our damn politicians just don't know when to leave well enough alone.
Any compromise with the Dems, a la the new Gang, will result in legislation that falls well short of our goals.
And it should be no surprise that Lindsey Graham is involved with this new Gang. WTF is his problem? When I lived in his SC Congressional district he was a solid Conservative.

I don't get why the oil companies don't strike back when the dems make the case that they already have the land to dill on they just choose not too.

I worked for years out in western Kern County California doing on site drug testing of oil rig crews at such places like the Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve. Now, I don't know a whole lot about oil drilling, but I asked them once how much oil it takes to produce gasoline. I was told by the rough necks that the kind of oil they were drilling wasn't good for gasoline. They said it would be used for other materials, but it wasn't the quality that was good for gas.

Now, why don't those who are in favor for more drilling say this stuff? I tell it to people I know and the reaction is always the same...Gee, I didn't know that, I thought all oil was good for gas.

I am left scratching my head and asking myself if the oil companies and the others are trying to actively lose the war for drilling? Get the info out there.

We live in a nation that sadly, unless you spell it out to them they won't understand.

Why not take a page from the Dems playbook, Rules for Radicals, and see what Pelosi's strategy has been:

"The ultimate goal, said Alinsky, is not to arrive at compromise or peaceful coexistence, but rather to "crush the opposition," bit by bit. "A People's Organization [Demi-clepto-crat Party] is dedicated to eternal war," said Alinsky. "… A war is not an intellectual debate, and in the war against social evils [oil consumption]there are no rules of fair play.… When you have war, it means that neither side can agree on anything…. In our war against the social menaces of mankind [GOP and their democratic rule of law] there can be no compromise. It is life or death."

The GOP should fight fire with fire, IMHO.

I think we all need to contact her office and demand that she stand firm - no drilling!

Wouldn't want her (and the rest of the Dem leadership) to get on the right side of this issue.

Oil is below $113...a $45 drop since Bush rescinded the Executive order on drilling. $40 drop since the House went on vacation. The dollar is up...gold is selling at the low $800's...Euro down... Any connection to all of this?

Oh, yeah, Pelosi's book sales are still down.

If there are bigger clowns on the political horizon than Obama, Peloser and Reid are the biggest jokes of all. Only from San Francisco can someone so inept rise to the power than she fantasizes she has.. Delusions of grandeur are a mental illness.
