Paging Alice Palmer

posted at 7:34 am on August 12, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

How will Barack Obama manage to avoid a floor vote in Denver, and the potential embarrassment of show of no-confidence from Hillary Clinton delegates?  Apparently the DNC has taken a page from Obama’s own political practices.  One Colorado delegate got threatened with expulsion after sending a private e-mail to another delegate criticizing Obama (via Slapstick Politics):

[Sacha] Millstone acknowledged she was frustrated over how the Obama campaign was treating delegates who supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and told a fellow delegate, in what she believed was a private e-mail exchange, that she was not sure she could vote for Obama at the Democratic National Convention later this month.

The other delegate apparently filed a complaint with the state Democratic Party suggesting Millstone lose her status as a delegate.

Apparently the Political Director of Colorado’s Democratic Party, William Compton, took the suggestion very seriously and told Millstone via e-mail, “You are directed to come in to the Party Headquarters and explain your comments and why you should remain a national delegate…”

Millstone, who worked on the campaign for Hillary Clinton, considered the e-mail a threat.

This gets creepy on a number of different levels. Now we have delegates acting like little spies against each other, reporting on disloyalty to the party, which has historical echoes to very unpleasant times in the last century. The party itself has now sent the signal that it will brook no dissent from The One, not even in private communication.  That would seem at least on the surface to be the philosophical antithesis of the entire purpose of political conventions.

Earlier, a Wisconsin delegate got removed from the DNC for her open support of the Republican nominee.  That move made sense, even if it seemed rather ham-handed and tactically foolish, as it made Debra Bartoshevich a national story (and a Republican).  Millstone supported Hillary Clinton, not John McCain, and had made no public statements derogating the presumptive nominee.

The scenario should remind people about how Obama started his political career.  His mentor, Alice Palmer, decided that she didn’t want to vacate her state Senate seat after all, but he got her disqualified anyway by challenging her petitions, as well as those for all of the other Democrats in the primary.  Obama wound up unopposed after he ensured that no other options would be available

Sounds like what the Denocrats want to do with Hillary delegates.  Either they need to march in lockstep and keep their mouths shut, or their fellow delegates will report them for disloyalty to The One — and they can watch the convention on C-SPAN.

It won’t be long before being critical of the messiah will be diagnosed as a mental disorder.

When Republicans (Rethuglicans) do this it’s intolerant and dictatorial. When Democrats do it it’s for the children (yes, the children and not for the mistakenly expelled fetuses whose brains should be vacuumed out).
BTW My real name isn’t attached to this account in any way, is it?

snaggletoothie on August 12, 2008 at 7:57 AM

Obviously the Democratic party is in great disunity.

This is why there is a second, unofficial convention from one of the candidates for president who lost, going on the same day as the main convention. A political party that is this fractured stands no chance of winning in November.

This is some weird mixture of Nazism and Communism all thrown together with a good mixture of cult of personality-ism.

Either they need to march in lockstep and keep their mouths shut,

Which makes the whole delegate vote a complete fraud so why are they even going to bother to hold the vote? It’s ashamed that the MSM is a total sham and can no longer be trusted on anything they say. If BO loses this fall I really think that this country will be in for a very rude awaking and it may come very close to a civil war or at very least I expect that terrorism from within will be the new way of life. No matter who wins I think we are headed for very dark times and quite possibly the end of the USA as we know it today. I know people say things like that every election but this is the fist where the anti-American forces working from within the government, media and academia have reach a consensuses and rallied behind what can only be described as a religious cult figure who has mesmerized 10 of millions of people worldwide.

On a tip from a commenter at a PUMA site, found online records for (2) two IRS tax liens from the State of Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances website for Stanley Sutoro & Stanley Durham in 1987 (Document No: B20784528) & 1991 (Document No: R1991155273). While Barry was at Harvard, it looks like his family did not pay their taxes.

This is a tad priceless,Millstone is getting called
to the Liberal carpet, and has to explain her e-mail!

So,who intercepted the “private” e-mail!

The Democrats are doing exactly what they were against,
so-called spying an a American,and in this case,the
Liberals are spying on their own!

First we hear how Liberals want to know how a voter
voted in a union,and now an intercepted a e-mail!

Sounds like theres going to be a delegate uprising
in Denver!

Whats that about unity, sounds like there will be a
mutiny!

Every time the mask slips and the people see what’s really going on, that is a good thing. And that goes for both parties and.

I am reading that book “The Case Against Barack Obama” and it covers the Alice Palmer incident in detail. I would urge anyone who wants to see up close how B.O. really operates to read this book and quick. The book is a real eye opener and the more I am seeing the prospects of this guy becoming Commander In Chief, the more nervous I get.

Net Comrade! No negative thoughts shall be tolerated about our Great And Glorious Leader (May He Live Forever) while in Denver! Hope and Change we can all believe in for the benefit of the masses!

sabbott on August 12, 2008 at 8:21 AM

The same crap happens in Cuba, but with far worse consequences. If I were confiding to a friend about my disdain for Castro and someone overheard the conversation, they could report me and I would be sent immediately to jail without representation and treated far worse than the prisoners in Guantanamo.

This tactic is part of communist propaganda. Scare the others, while eliminating all opposing voices.

Anybody surprised, really?

C’mon, look what the Left in this country, epitomized by people such as Obama, have done to College Campuses and Schools across this country for the past 40 years.

Anti-American/Pro-Jihadi Leftist, such as Obama (PBUH), and other “Democrats” and their ilk, have thru history, been responsible for:

Marxism
Socialism
Communism
Totalitarianism
Authoritarianism
Nazism
Islamism

Some things they have NOT been responsible for:

Free Speech
Free Thought
Democracy
Capitalism

In other words, the VERY things that enable and empower them, and that has given them the exact lifestyle they so callously exploit; they despise and attempt to eradicate.

They are pathetic, deluded, societal-suicidal Nutbags!

Dale in Atlanta on August 12, 2008 at 8:35 AM

Marxism cannot survive in a free society, with a free press, we see this same tactic over and over again with our Democrat friends in Congress — And the Edwards example shows how the drive by media try to do it. In fact, there is a shining example of the technique ongoing in the House right now … Ask Speaker Pelosi for details on how you do it. Maybe the DNC could shut off the camera’s, shut off the microphones, then hold the floor vote, turn them all back back on and announce the results.

Putin is going to be jealous.

tarpon on August 12, 2008 at 8:42 AM

The country is about to slip into socialism/communism through its Marxist conduit . . . Obama. Wake up people, it’s getting away from us and we won’t be able to get it back.

in what she believed was a private e-mail exchange

Ok, I deal with computer security on a daily basis. And if the person turned this into the Colorado Dems, or the DNC, and it was supposed to be a private email, then the person who received it as well as the Dems are guilty of a FELONY for viewing private email, which is considered no different than a private letter that you receive in the mail. ‘Course you will never hear this in the media

ConservativePartyNow on August 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM

So if the Chosen One is elected, who will be his pick to run all the “re-education” camps?

Will the ACLU and Democrats object if NSA starts reading our email?

Will the internet be allowed?

Where do we turn in our guns?

That kind of decision would be a definite mistake on whose side? To consider this in a purely rhetorical sense, answer the following questions and tell me what conclusions you might draw regarding the outcome.

1) Who is the much better armed portion of the “citizenry”, conservatives or liberals?

2) Who is actually more likely to fight to protect their freedom, a conservative or a liberal?

3) What is the predominate political leaning in the military of this country, conservative or liberal.

4) Who is more likely to take up arms to protect the “American way”, a conservative or a liberal?

5) Who is more likely to stand and fight instead of cutting and running, a conservative or a liberal?

Just musing…

BTW the Dems are proposing a related strategy for Unions by eliminating the secret ballot.
