I was thinking along similar lines as Quayle only with the focus on McCain. Quayle is looking at the Obamessiah and that he may need to choose a VP candidate with foreign policy gravitas, but what of McCain?

Recall that McCain appeared ready to drop out of the race when Bhutto of Pakistan was assassinated. Suddenly rejuvenated, McCain's campaign took off and he carried that momentum to the early clinching of the Republican nomination.

Could Russia's invasion of Georgia be the catalyst that enables McCain to shatter the shiny veneer of "The One" and win a supposedly unwinable election?

Well with a post about Quayle, gaffs are bound to happen.

P.S. We all make gaffs. Quayle just makes them funny.

I thought the President and Costas did a nice job in their interview - I loved the end when Bush said "I'm going to the swimming events if you ever let me get off this set" !!

The crew could be heard laughing.

Bush has done a great job supporting out athletes. He's a good man - and a great sports fan.

Bob Costas interviewed GW Bush for around 10 minutes too last night, touching on a lot of worldwide politics, such as China's record, Russia, Georgia. An odd setting for one of GW's most substantive interviews in awhile.

The crisis could also bring Wes Clark back to the fore, another lousy campaigner but at least seen to be experienced in foreign crises.

And then the RNC could hire that dapper Brit general who told Weaseley that he wasn't willing to start WWIII with Russia over some airfield in Kosovo.

Army people hate Weaseley almost as much as AF folks hate Merrill "Tony" McPeak.

John has bigger problems than running for any office. He has a lot of money and a wife who, by all rights, has claim on a vast fortune. Moreover, if she thinks his star has reached its apex, she may decide to renegotiate their contract (she is an attorney afterall).

I suspect he told his wife alright, but exactly which version who knows. But how he squares that circle in public versus laying out his own private version of events with the Mrs is something else.

I suspect that as more facts become known the less his private account matches the official story. Should make for interesting family time in the Edwards mansion.

Kathleen Sebelius? LoL… here in the great state of Kansas… she aint been doing so great. Corruption in the attorney generals office with the people she supports, rejection of building a new electrical generating plant, and increasing budget crisis this year… yeah, that’s what we need in Washington D.C. is more of that.

Well, she sound like a perfect match for Barry.

"The attack of being ignorant that Quayle endured was just a warm up of what the dims were going to do to Bush."

The left has done this for years.

Eisenhower was a hero in WWII for all he did and the Democrats THEN tried to portray him as stupid.

See, if you don't understand the brilliance of socialism, a form of government that has proven itself time and time again to be perfect and to construct utopia on earth, you can't be very bright.

He could make a comeback as an appointment ...

Why should he get an appt? He's still lying his a$$ off. And worse, continuing to orchestrate this whole web of deceit. Plus, I don't see where his desire for power is more important than acknowledging his own flesh and blood.

Why does everyone care so much about this John Edwards story? This is the first comment I've made on the dozens of Edwards stories I've seen go by in the last few days on various blogs. I don't get the fascination for a has-been.

I think Quayle is right; Edwards is finished, even with the media bootlickers trying to resuscitate him. All the Enquirer has to do is run that video of him running into the bathroom and hiding. A good ad company could come up with at least 3 spots that would make him a laughing stock based on that video. Hell, anyone with a computer probably could. What worked for Bill Clinton on his affairs, is he just brazened his way through them. Faced the press, attacked his critics, and lied his a** off. Edwards ran into a men's room and burst into tears like a 10 year old girl. He's done.

After over 7 years of daily bombarding their brainwashed legions that Bush is stupid, a liar and complete failure with these hate filled attacks and Obama is all they've got? What a freaking joke. I guess the dims have to rachet up the obsessive hate for Bush on a daily basis or their followers would forget.

He may now need to find someone with foreign policy credentials to bolster his standing — and that would eliminate most of the people presumed to be on the short list: Tim Kaine, Kathleen Sibelius, even Hillary Clinton.

What happened to Evan Bayh? I thought he was on the really short list.

The crisis could also bring Wes Clark back to the fore, another lousy campaigner but at least seen to be experienced in foreign crises.

Oh, please, let him pick the utterly loathsome Wes Clark!

Quayle made one spelling error & he’s laughed off the stage. Obama makes a big gaffe every week, & he’s poised to become president of the USA world universe.

The MSM bases their decision to rip, or not rip a politician on but a single letter of the alphabet.

On the contrary, Hillary will be Obama's much-needed foreign policy expert, she will be his V.P.

Once, she performed a cork-screw landing in a combat zone, then burst out of the plane carrying a comedian and a mediocre guitar player on her back, and then, after bringing them to safety, she returned to the fiery tarmac to rescue the screaming children.

Now that's foreign policy experience! No purple heart for her, though, because she's a woman.

I remember when the Libtards gave Vice President Quayle heck over his misspelling of the word "potato". Okay then: Edwards, can you spell I-D-I-O-T? Barack, can you spell M-O-R-O-N?

I also remember Vice President Quayle giving Al Gore a verbal thrashing during a vice presidential debate and how stunned the Libtards were!

So Dan Quayle is back on TV - gosh that’s a good thing for the GOP…..

The fact is that Quayle has more foreign policy experience that Edwards and Barack combined times several orders of magnitude and is smarter than both by several more orders of magnitude. Odd that a MESSIAH will make so many flip flops and gaffes.....unless he's just a run-of-the-mill air head, arrogant f#@k who can read a teleprompter. And Edwards, he's just a typical sleezy politician and ambulance chaser. So Jake-the-Goose, it is a good thing.

I'm beginning to think that Edwards' political career (what there was of it) may be done. Sure, most Dims are willing to give him a pass for cheating on his seriously-ill wife, but the unbelieveable stupidity of the way in which Edwards has behaved in this matter may be harder to overlook. It's not just all the lies Edwards continues to tell about the paternity of the baby, and the big pay-offs to Hunter and Young. It's also all the sordid details coming out now about Hunter -- a frazzled New Age loon with a history of entertaining more men than Yankee stadium, who announced several years ago that she was going to make herself rich and famous by hooking up with a rich and famous man.

Edwards, a supposedly smart guy, is beginning to look like one of the biggest fools on the planet. And as Dan Quayle can attest, once the public becomes convinced that somebody is a blithering idiot, it's very difficult to ever get the public to take that person seriously again.

The crisis could also bring Wes Clark back to the fore, another lousy campaigner but at least seen to be experienced in foreign crises.

Clark and Biden are perfect examples of men who will go absolutely no further in life. Given this, and the fact they are white and well-known, makes them perfect choices for Obama's VP, and more importantly, willing to accept. No one with any political future would possibly hitch his wagon to the falling Obama star. While Richardson is very clearly a moron, his re-found ethnicity may yet move him further. As such, he's bound to decline if asked.
