That new McCain ad, which again mocks Obama’s celebrity, is, of course, racist. What? It features white women saying Obama is hot stuff. Which, because he’s half black, means that McCain is trying to say that Obama is going to……

1) Mock Obama for being a shallow celebutante.

2) Mock the girls and “metrobamasexuals” who faint over him and mess with their pretty little heads.

3) Force Obama to come to the defense of his celebrideity and the fragile psyche of his worshipers by claiming to be deep and serious, while at the same time running his own counterproductive celeb ads with the theme of: “I know you are, but what am I?”

Now here’s where it gets good…

4) Throw the potential knockout by painting him alternatively now as one of those annoying “serious thoughtful celebrities” we all hate worse than the shallow ones. In this case the celeb is actually trying to play and be President/messiah with George Clooney as his personal advisor (Clooney is playing what would be the Tom Cruise role if L Ron Hubbard were running for prez). It’s a perfect setup for the coup de grâce, because at the end of it all Obama is defined as one of two types of annoying celebrities and has no way to escape unless he really can do miracles.

Not as clever as the Britney ad, not as funny as the Moses ad

I don’t know, I don’t think it was all that bad… listening to the idiotic comments from his supporters was pretty damn funny, and an example of how shallow and stupid they all are.

McCain just needs to be himself, find a reasonable VP nominee, and pay no attention to the phoney-baloney cries of racism.

Some lefties will take that route no matter what McCain or any of his supporters say, especially if Obambi’s poll numbers sink (as they surely will).

A cynic might see this as a bit of Putinesque skirmishing on the border of race designed to provoke the other side into a broader war.

It looks like the strategy is to make Obama a laughingstock. The next ad should show McCain serious, somber, ready to lead on drilling ANWR and the offshore. That would be a 1-2 punch.

Bingo! There is such a thing as overplaying your hand, and the best ad strategy Mac could engage at this point would be to pull back on the comedy ads for a bit (now that he’s got Obama on the defensive) an let more Americans get to know what he is for and what he will do. After that, go for another round of poking fun at The One. Rinse and repeat util November.

These ads should be devastatingly brilliant, not just good enough. McCain’s people seem to be using “silly and fun” as an excuse to not work as hard to hit a home run. The overall plan is great, but each of these new ads have had obvious weaknesses.

The series of ads shows the vapidity of way too many Obama supporters. It is intended to discourage people from voting for him on grounds of popularity. And, exposing the stupidity of a large swath of his supporters doesn’t seem like a bad idea to me.

This line of attack is stripping Obambi of the only thing he’s got going for him: his newness and celebrity.

When he’s been stripped of his life support, pretty soon he’ll be forced to offer up substance; he’s got none.

That’s all you need to know about how well this line of attack is working. AP, you obviously just don’t get it. This was clever and witty and right on the mark.

Every one of these ads is a body blow to Barry. Each one takes a little more wind out of him and makes him look just a little more foolish. McCain doesn’t need to dryly pontificate on the deficit in August; he needs to make Obamamania look like a religion of fools.

Team Maverick needs to keep pounding him in the ribs with this stuff til the convention, then outline his own case in the fall, as well as blow Barry out of the water in the debates.

Y’know, one thing though, I’ve been saying all along that I think Barry’s an empty suit, but I may have to stand corrected. He’s got George McGovern and Jimmy Carter and even Thomas Dewey (who was famously said to have lost because he could strut sitting down) in there.
