After all they did to suppress the story for him, it’s really the least he can do. Tip via TV Newser, which neglects to mention the punchline here: Upon pronouncing the media a hapless victim whose blind trust was so cruelly exploited by Edwards’s aides, Shuster then turned around and pulled rank on the one press outfit that actually bothered to do some reporting. This one’s for you, Kaus.

Ye olde moral equivalency pitch.
So, when McCain was having these “many affairs,” did his wife have terminal cancer, and did he hype the drama of his candidacy by dragging his wife out before the cameras to create an unforgettable moment?
The trouble with those, uh, moments, is that they’re always there, right here and right now, (until the DNC figures a way to stifle them, of course) on YouTube. And be sure to watch all 20 glorious minutes.
P.S. I really, really, don’t like McCain, but can we at least be honest, dude?

If Charles decides to investigate a story, it gets done with the professionalism that we used to expect from a journalist working for and getting paid the big bucks by the big media. Those days passed many decades ago. The MSM and the DNC are one in the same; working together side by side for the common ideology of Liberalism. I used to believe that our government (specifically the Judicial branch) should address this issue and make the necessary corrections-punishment; I now believe it’s best left to the people so that these scumbags can die the slow and embarrassing death they so richly deserve. Having the Enquirer beat the snot out of these self professed “big timers” has got to sting the ol’ ego real good.
CBS, NBC, ABC, NYT, WAPO, LAT, Tribune, et al; the world just watched as the Enquirer buried you while you were busy trying your damnest to bury this story and provide cover for one of your own. You tools don’t fool anybody anymore. Just a few year ago @ CaptainsQuarters, we had a lengthy debate about whether or not their was absolute media bias in the media; now their is no longer an argument… It has become accepted as a reality that can’t be denied.

Edwards came clean today to put the spotlight on McCain’s numerous affairs.
Ron and Nancy Reagan were so disgusted with McCain’s cheatin’ ways that they banned him from their house.
Quite a tale (when the press starts reporting it).

In answer to you, and hillbillyjim, no, alphie is not “angry” nor “belligerent”, and generally he and I get along just fine. I just can’t stand illogic.
If there is trash on McCain, I’m sure the ‘illustrious media’ will unload it. But this is about Edwards and the lefties can’t handle it, without smearing the right with it.
If I ever make a stupid comment like this, please call me on it. That will mean that I need help, and I’ll appreciate your support in that regard.

You believe most of the things the founding fathers believed in; you believe in God, no….., but you don’t believe in government run healthcare, not sure…., how about the second amendment…,I know there are bound to be some conservative values that you espouse. If you’re an Edwards supporter, let me put this bluntly; if you gave John and Elizabeth Edwards time, money, support, or goodwill, they played you.
They made a conscious decision to make their relationship a focus throughout the campaign. That emotional goodwill you feel for them? They not only let you feel, they took actions and made statements specifically so you would feel it.
Then when the rumors first surfaced, they made the worst decision of all; they decided to lie about it and to keep lying about it for months. They lied in a way that made the people who were telling the truth look like the real liars. They lied in a way that turned their supporters into attack dogs. They only started to tell the truth when John Edwards was caught at the Beverly Hills Hilton and even now both John and Elizabeth Edward are calling the people who caught him the liars … (Mickey Kaus)

John Edwards’ betrayal of his wife is a private affair - to a point - once it’s out there, though, it’s “out there.” In refusing to report a story once it was “out there” the press committed a kind of betrayal, too - one that breaks the public trust just as surely as Edwards broke a private one. That, to me (and many others) was always the bigger story.

Alpohie is a long time troll who migrated from CQ, where he got his butt handed to him on a regular basis.
Used to watch him/her/it there, I read that blog on a regular basis. Any of the posters who migrated here will recognize it. appears to me Alphie suffers from masochism-that’s the only reason I can think of that’d prod him to suffer more of the same.
So don’t buy the “conservative” shtick, he’s a lib thru and thru.

Whatever McCain did occurred soon after his return from a five and a half year stay in a torture pit where he had the snot beat out of him for almost the entire time. Some Democrats still in Congress were loyal supporteres of those people who tortured John McCain for five and a half years. He has atoned for his moral failure many times over. He didn’t do the Clinonian and Johnedwardian thing by playing the sympathetic media for fools (though being a VN vet he received no sympathy anyway from the national media).

Elizabeth Edwards is speaking out now, on Daily Kos.
And while all the previous diaries on DKos regarding the Edwards affair have been deleted and diarist accounts banned, since Edwards came out and admitted the affair, the newer Edwards affair diaries are filled with loathing for John Edwards… until Elizabeth Edwards diary was posted.
Now they’re fawning over John Edwards in the comments of Elizabeth Edwards’ diary and saying what a great guy he really is, what a great Attorney general he will make, etc ad blah blah blah.
Wow. The Kos kids sure are a lot of whack job two-faced hypocrites.
