Thanks for running ads for our side!

Tim Burton on August 7, 2008 at 10:43 PM

A Republican in Texas is in favor of drilling? No way with the voters there stand for that. Moveon should also put out an ad that shows he’s in favor of owning guns. That’ll really cook his goose.

Hollowpoint on August 7, 2008 at 10:45 PM

Haha.

Spirit of 1776 on August 7, 2008 at 10:50 PM

The MoveOn crowd is wearing thin with the public. Just like people getting tired of the Obamessiah, Pelosi’s book flopping, congress’ approval ratings tanking, and nobody talking about global warming anymore. They have gone out too far on that left hand limb.

D0WNT0WN on August 7, 2008 at 10:51 PM

For a double dose of backfire, I wonder if they want to rerun their BetrayUs ad.

OneGyT on August 7, 2008 at 10:55 PM

They must be targeting that heretounknown Texasgreenie. We’re all for environmentalism and recycling and conservation but we know their arguments against drilling are a bunch of Longhorn BS.

We drive by pastures of cattle grazing at oil wells (poor caribou in Alaska don’t know what they’re missing) and have been drilling off our coast for 30 year.

Maybe they aren’t aware that it takes something like 16 hours to drive across Texas, in a vehicle! Heck I can drive to New Orleans quicker than to Oklahoma! I can drive to Orlando about the same time it takes for me to drive to El Paso.

Texas Gal on August 7, 2008 at 11:09 PM

Dear MoveOn,
What works in San Francisco and New York don’t fly in these here parts. Please stop acting like we give a flying f*(^ what you think.

Thanks.

P.S. Idiots

I still think that both sides are trying desperately to lose this election. Just when you think that McCain is trying hardest of all, then the dolts on the left up the ante and try even harder to lose the election.

I’m starting to get this feeling that there is something bad around the corner that none of us know about, but both parties do and neither wants the blame next year.

Snake307 on August 7, 2008 at 11:18 PM

I am far from a grammar maven, but is the sentence from the article correct?

A series of new MoveOn.org radio advertisements looks like they could backfire, big-time.

carbon_footprint on August 7, 2008 at 11:19 PM

That is sooo funny.

It’s good to see that MoveOn is now controlled by those whose disregard for reality is complete and unadjustable.

Hey, let’s guess their next brilliant campaign tactic. Mine is ads run in the bible belt accusing Republicans of being anti-abortion.

Dusty on August 7, 2008 at 11:23 PM

Shhh. Don’t tell them that they’re pulling in votes for our side. After the election George Soros can do the math and the subsequent, ‘D’Oh!’ Our goal should be to impoverish this punk once and for all. He’s a KGB agent, for sure.

Eagle eye.

Dusty on August 7, 2008 at 11:27 PM

Good old MoveOn. Sabotaging Democrats since 1998.

carbon_footprint on August 7, 2008 at 11:19 PM

No it isn’t. It should read: “A series of new moveon.org radio advertisements looks like IT could backfire, big time.”

The subject being “series,” singular, not “advertisements,” plural.

CurtZHP on August 7, 2008 at 11:28 PM

The guy who is posting and cursing up a storm makes it worth the time to read the comments.

When your on the wrong side of history, which is where the far left tend to stay, warts are gonna show. Just sayin’.

silenced majority on August 7, 2008 at 11:40 PM

Sorry to be OT, But The Vault seems to be broken. All I see is the post date and the sub-title/snark. No main title and no live link. I’ve tried Firefox and Safari. Anybody else?

mad saint jack on August 7, 2008 at 11:54 PM

Clueless.

………. They are on the wrong side of the issues, they know it, at least those writing the checks, they are sweating, and a sense of uneasiness is starting to creep in.

……… wait for the visible signs of sweat and panic. You can see it in their faces.

Seven Percent Solution on August 8, 2008 at 12:26 AM

I can click on the comments link to get in, but your kinda flying blind.

I’ve been having the same prob. FF2 and IE(new) here.

Dusty on August 8, 2008 at 1:03 AM

Conaway surely received more than $200,000 from the oil industry, but since Small, Medium and Independent Oil producers don’t seem to count in Moveon.org’s numbers, $200,000 may be all he got from the Exxon-Mobil’s of the world.

When are they going to start running ads about Iowa Congressmen being in the pockets of Big Corn and Big Ethanol?

ospurt on August 8, 2008 at 1:06 AM

approval rating surge upward as a result of these ads

One can only have the audacity of hope

Kini on August 8, 2008 at 1:27 AM

They cut off their own nose to spite their face… and they didn’t even realize it.

That’s beautiful!

SilverStar830 on August 8, 2008 at 1:39 AM

O/T, but congratulations, hotair :-)

homesickamerican on August 8, 2008 at 2:37 AM

No it isn’t. It should read: “A series of new moveon.org radio advertisements looks like IT could backfire, big time.”

The subject being “series,” singular, not “advertisements,” plural.

It’s a tiny bit more complicated then that.

Series is both plural and singular. Much like moose.

You have to look at the context to tell if it’s singular or plural. In this case “a series”, is singular. “These series” would have been a plural form.

MarkTheGreat on August 8, 2008 at 7:01 AM

It does make you wonder how much an echo chamber these guys work in to think that these ads will be a net positive for the Democrats.

Physics Geek on August 8, 2008 at 7:43 AM

ninjapirate on August 7, 2008 at 10:50 PM

I saw that this morning. I am praying it catches on.

MarkTheGreat on August 8, 2008 at 7:01 AM

Do you explain Algebra? Now I know that every time I open my mouth it’s wrong. Just kidding, I always knew that.

Cindy Munford on August 8, 2008 at 8:25 AM

Am I wrong in thinking carbon’s comment was about how radio ads can’t look like anything? There seems to be an awful lot of sentence structure breakdown going on instead.

BadgerHawk on August 8, 2008 at 9:41 AM

John Culberson’s district includes what is known as “The Energy Corridor.” It has large office complexes that house, among others, Shell, Conoco, Citgo and BP. It also includes major companies that support the oil and gas industries (drilling equipment, exploration, etc.) The employees live in the residential areas surrounding the office complexes. Running those ads here is the equivalent of endorsing Culberson.

obladioblada on August 8, 2008 at 10:25 AM

I would like to quote Nelson from the Simpsons….”HA ha”
