Did anyone else find it surprising that there were dozens of other people on the bus at the time of the attack, and yet none of them tried to help the victim? …Yes, he had a knife and it was a small space and it would have involved some significant risk to anyone who attempted to intervene, but surely two or three men could have overpowered him.

In a news article I read one man tried to enlist the help of another man to jump the savage. When the latter fled the former decided he could not do it on his own and so he had to flee also.

It defies logic only if you do not consider all animals equal. For PETA all animals are people with the same feelings, dreams, desires and ambitions as humans and eating one is in their minds cannibalism.

If that’s all true … how exactly do the PETA crazies handle the idea of carnivorous animals? What’s their moral view on lion and tigers and bears, oh my?

No, seriously. Is there a link somewhere where they discuss it? I’m very curious how they get around the fact that zillions of animals eat zillions of other animals every day.

I’m convinced that just like Michael Moore elects Republicans, the PETA organization is actively harming animal rights. These groups and people do NOT care about their cause; if they did, they’d behave in ways that people would find sympathetic.

Every time PETA does this crap, I eat veal for a week.

They’re like Code Pink: almost everything they do hurts the very cause they claim to support.

It’s all about maturity. With maturity comes an understanding about how the world works, about how to work together to bring about real change; immaturity breeds hatred, divisiveness, and the need for a perceived “enemy.”

Bob Barker’s 10 second spiel to spay your pets after every Price is Right episode did more for animals than PETA will ever do.

They are harming animals with their actions. Period.

Now carry on with the inevitable high-hack about the bus attack.

Once again, for those not paying attention:

The victim was dead almost immediately. The first person to notice what was happening alerted the driver and passengers; when the bus was stopped, he helped get women and children (a lot of them) off the bus. That done, the initial witness, the bus driver, and a passing truck driver, all of them unarmed, attempted to board the bus, and subdue the attacker. Once in the bus, they could see quite plainly it was far too late for the victim, as they could see the killer holding the severed head. With the killer now advancing on them with his butcher’s knife they decided containment was best at that point, and exited the bus and blocked the killer’s exit until police could arrive, on a stretch of highway in the middle of the night.

Enough with the internet Rambos; you weren’t there.

If PeTA was an organization merely advancing their position, I don’t think I’d give them a second thought, let alone grant them the double barrelled 12 guage rant I’m about to unload, but they aren’t just animal lovers, they ar…

No it’s not. It’s beyond me how anyone can stand by and not at least try to help another person.

My husband has always taken a rather dim view of PETA, and its founder, Ingrid Newkirk. I always thought the whole thing was not much more than a rather lunatic, left wing fringe group…tree and bunny huggers, nothing more. Then, we watched an HBO documentary called “I Am An Animal: The Story of Ingrid Newkirk and PETA”. Newkirk, and her entire bunch of anti-humanity freaks and geeks, are more than just an aberration…they’re actually kind of frightening. Their fervor borders on the kind of thing you see at a revival – they absolutely believe that their defense of animals (and offense at human animals) is absolutely correct. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from this documentary. What a fruitcake. And…here are a few of her more infamous quotes:

So, if any of you wonder for even one second whether PETA is pro-animal, or merely anti-human – there’s your proof.

Then I drop PETA a line just to let them know that thanks to their latest idiotic stunt, I ate 3 different animals in their honor when normally I would have had just one.

The ignorance of these people is amazing. Insanity is probably a more proper word for someone who thinks this ideology is ever going to win out or that they might make some kind of difference. There are very few hardcore PETA members. Most of the ones I’ve met will “occasionally” have some bacon or a burger or a burger with bacon on it. Then, they’re “back on the wagon for good this time.”

At the risk of sending us off on a tangent, I am always amazed on how many PETA/animal rights activities are pro-choice when it comes to killing the developing human animal in the womb of a woman. Even when you explain the contradiction in the two positions they don’t “seem” (or at least will admit to) get it.

They sent me a particularly heart rending fundraising letter some years ago and I sent a letter of my own, explaining I’d be glad to help them out just as soon as all the unborn children were protected first. A few weeks later got back a polite, almost literally mimeographed form letter saying thank you for your opinion about abortion but we are focusing on animals since many people are working on the abortion “issue” [sic]. Translation: we don’t wanna be rude in case you’ll ever donate, but buzz of.

Which taught me two things: 1) Lots of people must write them about abortion and 2) they don’t give a rip.

In this age of terrorism, you also can’t be sure that the knife is the only weapon the killer is wielding. was the stabbing due to a robbery, mental illness, or was it a prelude to him setting off the bomb under his jacket? A few seconds is not long enough to figure out which.
