However, I think such a gimmick would backfire on her. Republicans could ALL gather at the capitol and have McCain
address them on the steps before heading to the convention. Great PR for the GOP.

Don’t forget the opportunity for federal income taxes paid by oil companies that would increase by the mere fact that revenue from operations in the US would increase. Exxon-Mobil pays some $30B in income taxes but only about $5B to the US because the other income taxes are paid to foreign governments for revenue generated from E-M’s overseas operations in those countries.

The Dems are constantly trying to divy up a pie that they continually force to be smaller and smaller by stubbornly sticking to unsound economic policies. The people have to suffer as a result and all Pelosi can say is ‘Let’s them eat cake. I have a book to sell.’

Gas prices affect a wide range of consumer goods away from the pumps, notably produce and other groceries, and every family has felt the pinch.

Speaking of feeling the pinch: What about those of us whose homes are heated with oil? The price per gallon is more than doubling from last winter, and they were so high even then that I wore sweaters to stay warm. Things are going to get way worse come winter when people are shivering in their homes.

Prove it. That’s far too broad a statement to leave unchallenged. And, before you quote poll numbers, be sure you can attribute any upswing to McCain and not disenchantment with Obama. In short, I want to know where these voters are that McCain has “won over” by his visionless and emotionaless stale rhetoric.

McCain’s also hedging his bets with the House. It’s still a real, real long shot that the Republicans can use this issue to actually win back the majority, and it’s far more likely that McCain, if elected, will have to work with a House that is still run by Nancy Pelosi.

You are flat out wrong here. The goal for the GOP has got to be ensuring that the Dems don’t get a veto-proof majority. Winning back the house isn’t the priority. McCain would do better in helping this along if he showed the GOP was unified in opposition to Democrat obstructionism. You essentially are defending McCain’s “go along to get along” approach that usually finds him voting against the GOP in crucial votes. He needs to convince the GOP base that despite all evidence to the contrary, he can be trusted to work WITH the party on important issues. So far he is the political traitor he has always been.

He won’t gain any votes for President by attacking her now, but he might lose any chance he might have of working with her as President.

I want a Republican president that challenges the Dem Speaker on issues, rallies the troops, and puts up the good fight for important issues. Your brand of giving in to the Dems is pretty pathetic but emblematic of the worthless human being that you refuse to fault on any grounds.

If you really are so clueless to think that McCain is the perfect GOP candidate, fine vote for the man. What really disgusts me though, is the intolerance towards those of us who are more critical of the man and his positions. He’s going to where there are actual voters and he is winning them over. He had planned to do an appearance at a oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico but weather caused him to cancel it. Probably just as well, as the MSM would have portrayed it as a stunt anyway – which is exactly what they would do if he canceled his campaign and went back to Washington now. They would also remind everyone that McCain has missed about 80% of the votes in the last year.
