I think you’re right. Maybe Clooney will offer sufficient celebrity appeal all on his own. It will still look crappy for Obama having Hollywood elites and other assorted internationalist boneheads raising big cash for him in Geneva.

He’s trying to suck the oxygen out of the GOP convention. Look at the timing. He’s dangling another glittering bauble in front of the media to split off coverage. Seems like a lot of bother and expense when simply stuffing a rolled up towel in his shorts crotch would yield more of an emotional high for his media.

Update: Hugh Hewitt and Duane Patterson wonder how long it will take before Switzerland goes under the bus. Hugh says three days, and Duane a week. I’m betting it will take longer than that. The Adams dinner alone will raise $750,000, and the Clooney reception could push that close to a million bucks. That would make it a very expensive road bump.

Is there a military hospital Obama can visit to make up for his screw up in Germany? Maybe an International Red Cross outpost? If there is, he will go, if not Obama’s appearance at La tour de Suisse will be cancelled toute suite, but the fundraiser will still go on without him.
