Oh wait. I’m supposed to love McCain now….

I consider E.J. Dionne one of the best center-left columnists in the nation, usually a man of intellectual honesty and genuine conviction, and on a personal basis, a gentleman of the first order.

He’s not center-left, he’s a liberal. He’s as intellectually honest as the other liberals, i.e., not. Genuine conviction in a failed ideology does not bolster any claim to intellectual honesty, unless he’s a half-wit.

He’s as gentlemanly as the rest of the liberals, i.e., not. He smears just like every other liberal smears. The military, the country, Republicans, conservatives.

He’s also a sniveling partisan, a little one.

On the other hand, he may be a nice guy….

If I had a dime for every time Captain Ed praised Dionne with the qualifier “But I disagree with him on this particular issue”, I’d own Google by now.

Star20 may be onto something. It is all about symbolism on the left and with the young.

As a nation we might never be able to criticize a black or woman candidate (or President) until we have already had one get elected. Only then will attacking a 2nd Generation empty suit or skirt possibly be considered not racist or sexist.

Welcome ot the world of identity policitics meets empty symbolism writ large.

Oops. Almost forgot. The above applies only to liberal candidates; conservative black and women candidates are in a free fire zone regardless.

I’ve been noticing a new talking point about him seems to have emerged on the left, by the way. It says that Olby isn’t a liberal; the right just says he is because he criticizes the president so much.

No, no, no. He’s not a liberal in the slightest! He’s just a True Patriot!

It’s true that Dionne is as white as Keith Olberdink, but, for the longest time I thought he was black, too, until I saw his picture on the back of his most recent book.

I don’t know why, either.

Dionne like most blacks is in the tank for Obama all the way.

Davis’s use of a dreadful cliche brought to mind George Orwell’s observation that there exists “a huge dump of worn-out metaphors which have lost all evocative power and are merely used because they save people the trouble of inventing phrases for themselves.”

Presumably by “dreadful” Dionne is not referring to a lack of highbrow literary panache, but is implying (as others on the Left have charged) that the phrase in itself is racist since it alludes to the O.J. Simpson trial.

I also find it hilarious when Leftists complain about worn out metaphors and anything Orwellian.

Funny, I have never considered this guy honest in the least.

He is as dishonest a liberal as they get. I consider him a big time liar, actually.

The people won’t elect a victim for POTUS. We US Americans like out leaders tough and vigorous.

Minus the shock period immediately after 9/11, when fears for their own well-being caused many to suffer a brief period of non-partisan mental clarity, folks like E.J. and others on the left have treated their political coverage since then like they’re a fan on a sports message board, touting their team and demonizing their main rival. They’re not going to admit Obama started this latest round of race-baiting, and instead try to come up with anything that can prove that the McCain ad showing Barack as a cross between a false messianic leader and a spoiled Hollywood diva is a racist effort.

Dionne isn’t a loopy as Bob Herbert — who desperately needs a picture book on European architecture sent to his office at the Times — but he still can’t bring himself to admit that his favorite team broke the rules, and wants to claim the only reason the bad guys’ team tied the score is because they were cheating.

Do you think Americans can endure four years of this nonesense?
Something voters should be thinking about come election day.

I suspect there are scads of folks in Whiteyville who say they will vote for the guy, but won’t because they bleeping hate this bullbleep.

Dionne, like most of the left, is simply entralled with the idea of electing a black as president they are no longer interested in truth or honesty. The objective of a black president has become the be-all and end-all of their lives regardless of whether he is qualified, capable or right for America. They do not care about anything but this skin color.

Exactly right. I’ve been reading Dionne for years, and he is as orthodox-liberal as they come. The dreams of a lot of Boomer liberals like Dionne are seriously tied up with Obama being elected now. They have lost all sense of objectivity about him. This column is really a perfect example. Nothing can tarnish the halo of The One.
