It only took ONE debate in 2000 for Al Gore to sigh his way out of the election. It only took one debate for John Kerry to declare we needed a “global test.’ It only took one debate for Gerald Ford to liberate Eastern Europe. It only took one debate for Mike Dukakis to say he would not execute a man who killed his wife.

Don’t forget he also practices the Law of Abrogation! His latest self-contradiction is what he has always said, despite his earlier words having had the force of a rising god when they were first uttered.

Good article. It shows Obama’s record favoring set-asides for minority contractors, affirmative action, his anti-profiling law, his opposition to new prisons, his explicit desire that the black community stick together. There’s a picture draw of an obligation he feels to the black community. Part of liberal politics is aligning yourself with a group, and that’s his group. It’s not the aligning with a group that I object to so much as the liberal ideology that’s behind it. Identity politics is a symptom of a liberal worldview.

The more immoderate Obama looks, the more McCain can capture the middle and derail Obama’s cult of personality.

As one who is not a strong McCain supporter, this is the case I made for the validity of his candidacy several times here. I don’t have to like it, but there it is.

And some people said that his campaign was faltering, directionless and going nowhere. Maybe McCain knows that this is a marathon, and he’s planning it out as such.

I remember in 1988 when Mike Dukakis looked all nice and shiny *** and in the debates he just hung himself. I see the same thing happening with Barack Obama.

Right now McCain is firing missiles through Obama’s messianic balloon at the appropriate time. Later I’ll wager the McCain campaign starts putting teeth into why we should all REALLY be afraid of voting in a leftist radical . . . right after the conventions.

He specifies one instance in particular, a battle over the presidency of the Cook County Board, which helps operate the machine’s patronage operation. Obama refused to take sides in the battle, effectively kneecapping a reform effort intended to clean up politics in Chicago. Instead, incumbent John Stroger kept his job, and Obama’s silence helped maintain the patronage system.

And later on, when Stroger became too ill to lead, the mantle of power in Cook County was placed on his son, Todd, who is now nothing more than a figurehead puppet to the real leader of Cook County, Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago.

Oh, since Todd has been “County Board President”, among his “accomplishments” he has ushered in the largest sales tax of any county in THE NATION.

We actually have people who live in Cook County who will drive out to the other counties to make basic purchases because they can’t afford the sales tax. Businesses within Chicago are hurting and some stores are even closing as a result.

Plus there are some towns within the county like Bensenville and Palatine who are talking about seceding from the county due to total mismanagement and political corruption.

But this doesn’t phase Todd Stroger in the least, who recently said, despite calls from county residents to have him impeached, that as far as he was concerned, as “County Board President”, he was doing a “damned good job”.

Maybe the people of Cook County would like to thank the person who was actually responsible for all of this mess, namely B.O.

David Freddoso argues against the notion that Barack Obama lacks a track record, and says Republicans have missed the mark in arguing his inexperience.

In matters of foreign policy and war, I think it’s appropriate to argue Obama’s lack of experience. Freddoso’s point seems to be more in the domestic policy arena. Obama is a classic Ivy league leftist intellectual — raise taxes, bring people together, and we too can bring forth a socialist utopia on Earth. A bright light needs to be shined on Obama’s associations with radicals and his own radical leftist beliefs. I hope McCain will do it or, if he won’t, that someone will!
