Video: Haditha Marine’s father unloads on Murtha
posted at 1:00 pm on August 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
He’s a 17-term incumbent who’s bloated his district with so much pork that the Journal once described him as having practically built the town himself. Nothing’s going to dislodge him unless he commits a major felony — and even then, per Abscam, I wouldn’t be so sure — but if there’s any justice this clip will put Bill Russell within single digits. Russell’s active military duty ended just two days ago so presumbly this signals the start of his campaign in earnest. I can’t find any polls online, but follow the last link to MM’s post and you’ll see that he’s (momentarily) outraising Murtha considerably.
Moms are always more sympathetic than dads and letting Mr. Sharratt speak off the cuff would have worked better than the stilted Teleprompter treatment, but no matter. Murtha’s been dodging this subject since last August, when the charges against Justin Sharratt and another Marine were dropped. If nothing else comes from this, it at least means he can’t dodge it anymore. As for the Hoekstra Amendment, you’ll find the text here. The argument against it is that it’s “unhelpful” to speak plainly about jihadist motives lest we abet their own religious glorification. By the same token, I guess, the Cold War should have been properly thought of as a fight to stop the spread of, er, “Russian culture.” Here’s the roll; only two Republicans voted with the left to try to defeat it. One was Ray LaHood. Guess who the other was.
Exit question: Why didn’t they chop this down to 30 seconds or a minute for airing on Pennsylvania TV? Or is that the next step?

Having a child in the military, this situation fills me with dread. I simply cannot imagine having my Congressman paint my child as a cold blooded murderer… And, get away with it!
I sure hope Murtha goes down in Nov.
Babs on August 3, 2008 at 1:13 PM
Someone find me that pic of Murtha hanging out with Medea Benjamin, holding a Code Pink shirt. Or has that been Stalinized from the web?
Hannibal Smith on August 3, 2008 at 1:14 PM
MURTHA IS EVERY BIT AS BAD AS VALLANDIGHAM WAS DURING THE US CIVIL WAR.
HE SHOULD BE RUN OUT OF TOWN.

Just had a client fill up my paypal account, so I was happy so shovel some over to http://russellbrigade.com/.

It is my sincerest hope that the good people of Pennyslvania see it more than fitting on Election Day in November to throw Murtha out of office on his frigging ear. And then I hope these Marines he accused of murder join forces and sue his sorry rear end into poverty. Murtha has been, is, and always will be a blowhard loudmouthed bully. It is now time to see him cut down to size, once and for all time!
pilamaye on August 3, 2008 at 1:28 PM
Great Vid. There are few politicians who deserve tar and feather treatment for shameful public utterances more than Murtha. I hope slander suits abound.
Dusty on August 3, 2008 at 1:31 PM
On a rail. After having been dipped in tar and rolled in feathers.
Make that boiling tar.
Misha I on August 3, 2008 at 1:32 PM

Didn’t Lincoln banish him to the South?
Bush would have every right to banish Murtha to Iraq.

My youngest son re-enlists for another hitch as a US Marine in a week or so. On his last visit home, the subject of Murtha came up. I used the phrase “that former-Marine Murtha” and my son immediately cut in with “you mean Ex-Marine.”
Murtha is a bully…always has been. A powerful bully nonetheless. He needs to be taken down, and soon.
coldwarrior on August 3, 2008 at 1:55 PM
Murtha sold his soul to the Muslims a long time ago.

Tell him he has our love and support.

Murtha is one of the few, an ex-Marine. Semper Fi, Marines and former Marines and all of the U.S. service personnel.

I can’t imagine the kind of people who vote this turd in term after term!
There’s a storm brewing on the horizon people. One day, this country will be taken back for the people.

Hey, don’t insult pigs! They give us bacon, ribs and other good things.
Murtha isn’t even a cockroach.
There is nothing vile enough to call him.
Ex-Marine indeed.
God bless the son re-enlisting and all Marines for doing their job.
Mommynator on August 3, 2008 at 2:49 PM
Murtha is a terrorist. A congressional terrorist.
Maybe Murtha could take a little queue from is terrorist friends.
Behead those who besmerch the good name of the Marines.
I know… a bit over the top, but what the hay… if this dipsh!t can do it, so can I.

Check out my Murtha cartoon. First one I ever made!
I’m glad the man is speaking out, in defense of his son and his son’s brother’s in arms.

I have made this post before, and I repeat it now.
The war was slowing down, Al Sader stopped fighting.
1) The interm President of Iraq stated his belief that we could ‘start withdrawing our troops by the end of the year.’*
I was scanning alot of newspapers maybe 60 or more in 5 days
This is what I read.
2)A small paragraph buried deep in the paper. ‘Sen. Reid flys to meet with George Soros.’*
3) Sen. Murtha gives his first ‘we must retreat now’ speech.*
*One of these papers was the NYT. I searched thru my histroy trying to find the 2nd paper but failed. The NYT would not allow me into achrives unless I subcribed, many of the other papers demanded the same.
The 2 time frames are 2 days and 3 days. I do not remember which is the first time frame and which is the second.
This is proof of nothing, But I find the timimg interesting.
There was a Iraq ‘violence graph’ posted here a month ago. It showed the violence dropped, then a couple weeks after Murtha’s first speech the violence sky rocketed!!!! Al Sadr reentered the fight, Iran entered the fight, the mosque was bomed and it became a seceterian war also.
Many troops and Iraq citizens died.

Is there enough tar and feathers for his bloated self?
One of many choice Democrats that make a rich living in Congress representing the enemies of our country and denying the needs of those Americans that elect them.
Let’s get some more elected and give our enemies a fighting chance.
I have the greatest respect for the Marine Corps, but this man is a traitor and should be shunned by the Corps that he has dishonored. A perfect military poster boy, for the Dems.

He’s an embarrassment to this religious, gun-clinging Pennsylvanian!
becki51758 on August 3, 2008 at 4:30 PM
Ok, so it’s Ron Paul. But parsing over the names for certain individuals is difficult because it doesn’t give their FULL names.
Just tell me next time. ;P

Murtha’s allegiance is to Murtha’s ego, period. He makes me puke! I hope to high heaven Russell takes him down. The other Marine mentioned in the video that is now on appeal is Lt. Col. Chessani and it’s the US MILITARY! that filed the appeal because his charges were dropped too. It’s abomination!! The Thomas Moore Law Center has a fund set up for denotation to the Chessani Defense Fund. Scroll down to left low portion of the page.
If you donate, like me!, be sure you set the donation selection window for his defense fund!
I was surprised a couple of weekends ago when I watched the video Charlie Wilson’s War (which was surprisingly informative) that there was a mention in it about John Murtha. When Congressman Wilson was trying to increase the Pentagon’s appropriation to buy the weapons to give to the Aghanis to shoot down the Russian helicopters he makes the comment that we secured Murtha’s vote by helping Murtha out by giving him (Murtha) his support on the Ethnic Committee. I wonder if anyone knows what that Ethic Committee situation was. There was no reference to in it the movie. Was Murtha under investigation or was he securing votes for someone else?
Texas Gal on August 3, 2008 at 5:34 PM
Well said sir.
Yakko77 on August 3, 2008 at 5:40 PM
Texas Girl – I think the ethics committee at that time was investigating the Sheik debacle. Otherwise known as the Keeting 7. The huge S&L bailout. I could be wrong.
Babs on August 3, 2008 at 6:00 PM
Thanks Babs.
That gives me a place to start. My curiosity was peaked by that statement in the movie and I wanted to find out what that was all about.

My USMC son re-upped in January for another 4. Two tours of Iraq already and headed for Afghanistan in a few weeks. Tell your son Semper Fi for me. This country is in good hands.

coldwarrior on August 3, 2008 at 7:34 PM
I would have thrown in something about Murtha getting due process and a presumption of innocence in ABSCAM.
Kafir on August 3, 2008 at 7:39 PM
I most certainly will. I cross paths with old grey dogs quite a bit because of the USMC stickers on my car. They usually send their regards. It makes me fell really good.
JonRoss on August 3, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Had this been my son falsely accused of murder by my congressman, I would have been camped at that SOB’s office everyday and screaming so loud that even the MSM couldn’t ignore me. I’m not saying that that’s the right thing to do though. The Sharratt’s response was more appropriate and mature. God Bless them; I couldn’t have done it.

Murtha worng for Pa. Wrong for our Military, Wrong for America
robo on August 3, 2008 at 8:21 PM
Bill Russell, at the moment, has a huge fundraising advantage over Murtha, having raised 3-4 times as much as Murtha so far.
This race is a national priority – Getting rid of the old sleaze Murtha would be enormously helpful in the House.
Bill Russell’s campaign is the kind that should garner tons of individual donations throughout the nation, not just locally.

Since the major theme of the presumptive Democratic Party candidate is “Change”, perhaps the good people of the 12th district could embrace that idea and punt the incumbent as far and as hard as possible.
Just for a “Change”.

Murtha is a pork-swilling pig.

Murtha,
A cold blooded liar who, like the rest of the democratic party, sold out this country and stabbed our Soldiers in the back for political advancement.

Now this is the America I remember, an America where it didn’t take lawyers, judges, and the media to decide the appropriate punishment assigned to a man who took actions against his country or countrymen.
My youngest son is going to enter into the NAV-ROTC program following his graduation from HS next year. I’m extremely proud of him, as I am of all of our sons and daughters who choose this path, as they are America’s true treasure.
Keemo on August 4, 2008 at 8:05 AM
Keemo, I am constantly amazed at these young men and women…a better generation by far than my own in many many ways.
Somehting I have carried around for a bit, and something, of all people, Elenor Roosevelt, carried around with her during WWII, is a simple prayer:
“Dear Lord
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me to remember
Somewhere out there
A Man died for me today
— as long as there be war
I then must
ask and answer
“Am I worth Dying For?”
For those of us on the home front…something to contemplate.

That’s the best news I’ve read all week! GO RUSSELL. I’m telling you, people are fed up. And this will only encourage more people to have a go at removing feckless “leaders” like Murtha and company from OUR Congress. I say lock the doors and change the locks now…and in 5 weeks when they all come back refreshed from a well-deserved break (yea right) we don’t let them back in.
