For one, and only one reason (the one reason we have a chance at winning this time)… the ban is yearly, and must be renewed every year. So a filibuster, or “no action” will remove (not renew) the ban.

A filibuster isn’t enough to renew the ban, that requires legislative action, a majority, and then beating or avoiding a veto.

For 6 years Republicans had majorities in both houses… are you telling me that even with a majority they couldn’t avoid their opposition getting veto-proof numbers?

Yes, Shell is the most expensive here too. Chevron, Exxon and Texaco are the cheapest and those are US owner gasoline franchises. The franchise owner buys the gasoline at a base price and then has some wiggle room to add to that cost to the consumer. That’s what creates price wars at competing gas stations. They try to make up for the reduction is a couple of cents by selling volume and they also get some walk in customers if they sell goods inside, especially cigarettes and snacks.

Since Chavez is not an American oil company, and Citgo has their own gasoline refinery that supplies gasoline to their own franchised gas stations, why is the price of gas at Citgo the same as Exxon? Chavez has a direct chain from his oil fields to your gas tank.
