As a former Minnesotan, small-government libertarian and, unfortunately, Jesse voter, I approve this message. Childhood disease, those least choiceful of diseases, is one area the free market has a really hard time fixing. I don't mind a few government bucks going that way to give a leg-up to those struck by this terrible genetic lottery. Take it from those who willingly went the route of needing government care.

Norm is a class act and has been highly visible in his first term unafraid to display his beliefs. Minnesota produces some spectacular winners, and some incredible losers.

"But Obama has a certain quality, I am not quite sure what it is, that makes his meager accomplishments count for so much more."

True - Obama once found his way from National Airport to the Capitol in heavy evening traffic. It may have even been raining.

Good for Senator Coleman.

I always saw a huge problem in the funding for AIDS over Cancer, $17 Bil for AIDS and only $5 Bil for Cancer, we need to focus on the problem that effects many more people (more people die in 1 year of cancer then have ever died of AIDS) and that effects more helpless children. Yet all the candidates overlook this since AIDS is still the hip disease.

I like Coleman, voted for him, hope that he is re-elected. When he was on the 'wrong side' of the "border/illegal immigration" issue, I wrote to him, letting him know how angry I was that my representative was siding with the Democrats. I wasn't alone:many many other Minnesotans must have also contacted Coleman, as he changed his vote and helped defeat the Dem/McCain Amnesty.
With all of that said...Franken may be a joke, but Minnesota has elected many jokes, and the Democrat "D" by his name on the ballot may be all that he needs to win. I'll celebrate a Coleman victory AFTER he wins.

Think

Franken isn't polling ahead... Coleman has a very solid lead... but I agree that , once again, a senator has congress spending money it isn't authorized to spend Constitutionally. Davy Crockett was right.

<blockquote>that makes his [Obama's] meager accomplishments count for so much more.

What meager accomplishments? I haven't seen a single one. Oh, he wrote a book, about himself.

If Franken wins, then we are sliding to rock bottom a lot faster than I thought.

Franken is a comedian he isn't going to be the next Senator from Minnesota, it will however give his sagging career a boost because his name will be out there in the National News during the campaign.

I hope this works for Sen. Coleman.. But Rick Samtorum had a similar story of helping families dealing with autism, ran some wonderful ads featuring families he had helped, and it didn't mean squat. So I wouldn't get carried away here.

This is a good ad for Minnesota, which is home to the Mayo Clinic, you know that world renowned medical facility that people from all around the world come to for treatment and care, including many world leaders instead of those places that have nationalized healthcare.
He must be careful to not "nuke the fridge" by stepping into the arena of national healthcare.

<blockquote>Good ad - also brings to mind how Coleman has accomplished far more in his first Senate term, than Barack Obama.

True, Coleman had accomplished more. But Obama has a certain quality, I am not quite sure what it is, that makes his meager accomplishments count for so much more.

I flinch when the government gets involved in medicine. I do not know what is in the bill but I would prefer large tax incentives for drug companies that treat effectively or cure diseases instead of funding research directly. Good for Coleman anyway. It shows he can follow through and be steadfast. He and McCain should coordinate ads. Make Coleman and McCain look like stalwart candidates, that make tough decisions, follow through, and keep their word.
