No Obama-Voight ticket!

How many invitations to Hollywood parties will Jon Voight receive after this?

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.

The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds. I know this process well. I was caught up in the hysteria during the Vietnam era, which was brought about through Marxist propaganda underlying the so-called peace movement. The radicals of that era were successful in giving the communists power to bring forth the killing fields and slaughter 2.5 million people in Cambodia and South Vietnam. Did they stop the war, or did they bring the war to those innocent people? In the end, they turned their backs on all the horror and suffering they helped create and walked away.

You really have to read the entire article to get the full flavor of Voight’s opposition to Obama and the Democrats.  He calls Wesley Clark a “lying fool” with “shame upon him”.   He accuses the media of deliberately painting a “misleading portrait” of Obama.  And in his utter rejection of the peace movement as a Marxist plot to undermine America, he has managed to insult just about every major studio talent and power broker in his industry.

None of this is to say that he’s wrong, of course.  I just hope he gets used to retirement.

I don’t use this exclamatory nearly often enough, but, HOLY CANNOLI. Its awesome to read something like that by someone out of Hollywood, but I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say his opinion matters any more than Sean Penn’s.

Isn’t he Angelina Jolie’s father? Based on some of her comments, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

jimmy the notable on July 28, 2008 at 5:02 PM

He accuses the media of deliberately painting a “misleading portrait” of Obama. And in his utter rejection of the peace movement as a Marxist plot to undermine America, he has managed to insult just about every major studio talent and power broker in his industry.

Honestly, addressing the ramifications of his pov on his career, marginalizes his pov.

I mean he has already said that at this point in his life, he doesn’t care what it does to his career, he cares about getting the message out there. I.e. He dismissed this question out of hand when asked about it himself. So, no need to marginalize the message by framing it within ramifications. Just my honest opinion.

God bless Jon Voight for having the courage to speak up. Can you IMAGINE how Hollywood will treat him? I’ll buy a ticket for ANY movie he is in!

Jon Voight doing the job that Republican leaders wont do.

William Amos on July 28, 2008 at 5:04 PM

As I understand it, he and Angelina are “estranged.” I guess we know why.

RBMN on July 28, 2008 at 5:04 PM

That’s it, we need an official fight, Voight vs. Cusack. Whoever wins gets dibs on the returns for the next Batman movie.

rockhauler on July 28, 2008 at 5:04 PM

I saw Voight on Fox months ago when the primaries were just getting started and he was supporting Rudy then. I heard his daughter Angelina Jolie is considering voting for McCain.

Don’t forget– Anelina Jolie has spoken in support of the surge strategy and finishing the job in Iraq!

Rarely do I agree with anyone from Hollyweird but Jon hits the nail on the head. He has also appeared and Hannity’s Freedom Concerts for the children of fallen Vets.

kiltedscotsman5 on July 28, 2008 at 5:14 PM

I love it.

Voight’s got guts. He knows the reprocussions of going against the system but he does it anyway. He stands up for what he believes in and will not be bullied into silence.

In a city of moral and intellectual cowards, Jon Voight threw it all on the table, for everyone to see. He stands for what he believes is right and tells the mindless sheep around him how they’re wrong.

As to comming off guest lists, I always felt Dennis Miller summed it up best: “If their friendship is so fickle that it hinges on your politics, they were never really your friends anyway, so it’s no big loss.”

SuperCool on July 28, 2008 at 5:14 PM

I’ve said it before and it bears repeating: Jon Voight is a patriot.

Thank you, Mr. Voight, for having the courage to speak up. Thanks, also, for all you do for our wounded vets.

Semper fi,

Ed

Here, Ed, let me hang a couple of big brass nuts on that for you:

Voight is dead-on, of course, and God bless him for saying it so forcefully.

As for Hollyweird, they’re not so easy to pigeon-hole. Voight will be regarded as an oddity, of course, but he already was to some degree. I say he has enough cache to be kept around, like a flashy thing you put on the coffee table for people to look at.

Funny how we all celebrate rational thinking coming out of Hollywood as if it were an undiscovered comet streaking through the sky.

Mr. Voight has nothing to worry about. He has been forever gainfully employed , earned a coveted Oscar, and he’s got a smoking hot daughter. Life is good.

Zorg on July 28, 2008 at 5:26 PM

It would really suck if the power brokers who produce such anti-American trash went broke while we enjoyed movies from producers who arent afraid to have ” good and evil ” and other valorous themes support their plots, like Mel Gibson.

NOT!

Well there’s a difference between espousing your political beliefs at an inappropriate venue and writing an editorial.

As for celebrity opinion, they’re going to espouse their opinions because they’re people - and people are going to listen because they’re famous.

At least in this case it’s common sense thinking instead of liberal claptrap.

I think the glaring difference between this and the rest of the Hollywood tripe you hear all the time is he’s going against the grain. I wonder how brave and daring it is when the rest of the liberal SMakTards spout out a ‘Bush is Evil’ or ‘War Crimes’ every time they are in front of a camera or get a mic in front of their faces. Whooooo, yer really taking a chance there…look out.

And speaking of shut up and sing..You notice that COW from the has-been Chicks decided to run her mouth on stage in London…what courage that must have taken…If she would have done it at a concert in the States, that might have been something. She would have been booed off the stage, but you could say she really believes what she’s blathering on about instead of being an attention whore…The deserved every bit of backlash they got….

BigWyo on July 28, 2008 at 6:39 PM

Maybe not ‘Coming Home’. Jane Fonda seduces the disabled Viet Nam Vet Voight, committing adultery against her husband, Bruce Dern, who has no sympathy for the hippie anti-war pukes. ‘Peace on you’ he replied with middle finger ablaze to a protesting hippie.

And Jane Fonda naked, even in her prime? Not that great.

pistolero on July 28, 2008 at 6:41 PM

Sorry, not impressed. Voight is a great Republican–of the Huckabee type. He went out of his way to act in probably the most anti-Mormon movie done in the last fifty years: September Dawn, which pretty much tried to say Mormons are 9-11 terrorist wannabees. They even tried to smear Romney at the same time in the promotional material.

I think he’s on record as saying stuff about Mormons that if Mel Gibson had said about Jews would have had Gibson tarred and feathered. Voight may get kudos for speaking out in Hollywood, but I won’t exactly shed a tear if he doesn’t work again, either.

He is either very brave or very foolish. Will he change any hearts or minds in Hollywood and the rest of the far left?

I doubt it. Most of them have to be willing to read and listen (like David Mamet) before they can even start the process of changing their minds. But, as we know, they would rather stick their fingers in their ears and scream “La, la, la, la,” as loud as they can like the little children they are.
