In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven.

The couple explained that they spend “hundreds” on birthday slumber parties and want to “teach some limits”. Santa Claus is still permitted to deliver seasonal gifts however.

The girls are also given an allowance of just $1 (50p) a week for performing household chores, according to People magazine. Those chores include making their own bed, setting and clearing the dinner table and putting themselves to bed by 8.30pm…

His two daughters keep up the sort of busy schedule that any over-reaching parent would recognize: football, dance and drama for the eldest and gymnastics and tap dancing for the youngest, with daily piano practice for both.

The expensive birthday party without presents is a rather odd disconnect.

I also think that it’s pitiful the two girls put themselves to bed. I will say I don’t know if it’s written up incorrectly. Kids at that age can certainly get ready for bed by themselves–however, bedtime stories, kisses, prayers, and tucking in by mom and dad are good things to end the day. I always found that bedtime is a good time to talk. Sometimes there’s something that’s been on their mind during the day and it will come out just before sleep.

I also find the kids schedule onerous. We certainly did chores, but my motto was give the kids time to be kids and play rather than putting them in the fast lane to getting burned out. We did do some extra things, but I kept an eye on it when they were young.

I made it clear, I’m in a mixed marriage myself, I could give a DAMN about his “DNA”; but I find it hilarious that he’s constructed this fiction about himself, based upon his own Deluded thinking about what HIS own “DNA” is, which is a lie, and how the Left is so brainwashed and self-hating/loathing, that they accept it a face value, and to even question it, or tell what the exact truth IS, is to immediately brand you as “racist” and “offensive” and “out of bounds”!

I WAS clear about that, SEVERAL times!

I connected his “DNA” to his own fraud, lies, works of fiction, self-radicalization, and haigiography that the Left has constructed about him!

That is a key difference, and one that you don’t seem to want to acknowledge….

This is a very positive thing. And I hope it continues regardless of the outcome. Obama’s candidacy is a good thing. He can say and demand what no one else can. And the risk of bad behavior costing him votes will improve the lot for all of us. It’s time to move past everyone’s baggage.

“Our intention was not to publicize this at all,” he says. So why was the Landstuhl visit listed on the press schedule? If the visit hadn’t been on the press schedule, the cancellation wouldn’t have been news. Duh….

His advance team may have also found that his presence there wouldn’t be warmly received. Better to spin the blame at the Pentagon and, by extension, the Bush/McCain “Team”.

If you’re reading carefully, you would have read that I said that some of your points have merit.

Those who attacked your brother for telling the truth are haters of the truth, but that doesn’t mean that you should use their tactics. Connecting DNA to things that aren’t related to DNA such as fitness to be president is wrong, no matter the justness of the cause.

I wouldn’t view a candidate’s race as personally relevant I know that others would. Especially from the left. What they would say about a conservative minority would be nothing but a racial and racist attack. Issues would be irrelevant. But we all know it wouldn’t be framed that way.

All true.

However, the fact that others have different principles does not mean that conservatives should stoop to their level. Isn’t that the reason that we lambaste RINOs?

I had thought of mentioning this too. I know her public narrative. It’s as big a bunch of BS as everything else they gin up to feed the sheeple.

I hope, perhaps naively, that they aren’t depriving their children of gifts at what should be appropriate times, so that they will play their parts properly. Like when they hear MommaBama talk about how hard it is to get by, they will nod like they can relate.

She is the string puller in that family anyway. She scares me more than he does.

IF that’s the case, I can relate; I’ve known “wealthy” parents; they don’t spoil their kids by NOT giving them $100K worth of toys and cars every birthday, and X-mas; they reign it in, and also make them work and “earn” things and do chores, etc.

They also set limits, and teach their children values and ethics, and compassion for those less fortunate, etc.; they don’t outlaw X-mas & Birthday gifts altogether??

Besides, if you listen to the Michelle Obama “narrative” of their lives, they are NOT “weathy”; they’re struggling, and hardup, and its all because America is a mean place that doesn’t deserve her pride; life is tough for the Obama’s according to her; arugula is not sold everywhere, and they have to struggle to pay for all the dance lessons and private tutors and musical instrument lessons, etc.!

So, if, according to Michele, that are NOT “wealthy”, and they are not, according to hear, what could possibly be the reason, then?

personally, I don’t think it’s a closet Muslim kind of thing. if it’s just an attempt by wealthy parents to not spoil their children, then I can relate.

what I wonder is how this practice relates to the church they attend. is this a common theme there? we did hear that 401k’s are a no no. are birthday gifts and Christmas presents too middle class as well?
