don’t think of it as a choice between military action or diplomacy

That never is the choice. Military action is merely diplomacy by other means.

Does anyone know if Obama ever fell down a well when he
was a kid?

Tony737 on July 24,2008 at 10:21PM.

Tony737: Tony, you remember that little girl that fell
into the pipe, and it was a successful rescue!
         Jessica,I think!

Anyhow,Tony I'm really worried about this oil
         drilling,I mean,what if,you know they drill a
         well,and you know,what if the 12th Iman,gets
lucky, and who would really know that right,
         I mean,the 12th Iman gets released from a
         drilling well!

It would be like a horror picture, happy go
lucky drill guys score a well, party after,
then the mist comes out of the well, then
you know,it would be catostrophic beyond
         even words could convey!

Besides that my idea is totally insane, but
         really,haha,what say you!

Obama said he would use really big sticks and really big carrots to deal with Iran.

I say the world pulls out the biggest carrot of all: kowtow to these savages, convert to Islam, kill all the Jews and start locking up the women.

It's a small price to pay for world peace.

Just propose to give all ethnic minorities the freedom to either associate with adjacent countries or create their own free states. Increase agitation of the breakup of the country from within based on the desire of people to be free from their tyrannical overlords and reduce Iran to a rump Persia with half the current coastline, a lot less oil, and half the population. That process itself would cause the downfall of the Mullahs many of which would probably get a Ceausescu-like send off.

If that doesn't solve the nuke problem, then we can bomb their installations.

So the UN will give Iran more time to "reconsider" their stand before getting really tough on them, and Osama Obama will sit in the White House weighing the "costs" of inviting Mad Mahmoud to dinner & talks....

Should be interesting. Radioactive, too.

My money’s on Israel here - they have a track record of stopping imbeciles and power-hungry facists from getting too much technology put together.

It's odd how a country of 7 million has, evidently, been tasked with handling one of the greatest threats to the civilized world, after which the Euros will issue Hague war-crimes arrest warrants for every single Jewish Israeli and everyone who has ever said a good word about Israel. THen they will impose an embargo designed to destroy Israel.

This world is in a very bad place, and mostly because people in the West have refused to accept the ROE of reality. Tehran should have disappeared in 1979.

this charade has dragged on for so long that no one can follow it anymore

I've followed it. Iran was completely cooperative until they were illegally referred to the Security Council. After they were illegally referred to the SC, which is a breach of the NPT by the IAEA, Iran still cooperated with INFCIRC/153 inspections, but only discontinued INFCIRC/540 inspections, which they were not legally bound to anyway. It is only now when the US has resorted to the story that they "found" a laptop computer that contains all of Irans secrets (which all happened to have been written in English) that Iran has had enough of the BS and started to become uncooperative. There is only so much a nation can put up with. Iran has had enough of the idea that the US does not have to abide by any treaties but the rest of the world has to go far beyond the stipulations of those same treaties.

The only way to stop proliferation in the long term is to get all countries to sign the INFCIRC/540 protocol. After the insanely illegal actions of the US in the past 5 years with respect to the NPT, no additional nations will ever sign the additional protocol and subject themselves to the same treatment. Once again, what the US does to make us "safer" only makes the world more dangerous.

Diplomatic sources in the know confirm the probe is at “a dead end.”

Surprise!

I hope that their arsenal of F-15s, F-16s and PATRIOTs is enough to get the job done and keep everyone safe.
