I used to believe that he was fired as the Supreme Commander for total incompetence and forced into retirement. However, now I believe he’s just gay and they found out about it.

The Anbar Awakening had a number of fathers but probably the biggest contributor was AQ and associated thugs. Their incredible brutality and purposeful killing of Iraqi civilians won them few friends. Then, they began to try to consolidate all power in their own hands infringing on the tradional authority of the sheiks. When the sheiks resisted AQ started trying to take them out. AQ made themselves the enemy of not only us, but a large part of the Iraqi population and their local leaders. The benefit to us started with a lot of increased intelligence flow from Iraqi’s to our forces. That allowed us to go out and swack a lot of AQ cells that we had been unable to identify. From there the sheiks began putting local guards out in their areas to protect against AQ. At first we were a little concerned at these ununiformed armed people showing up on street corners etc. But, fortunately local commanders realized what was going on and began to engage with and coordinate with these guards. Once we realized they were on the up and up and giving us great intel and truly were fighting AQ and other assorted bums, we began equipping them. That led to the sheiks encouraging their people to join the police and join the local army units. Now they were able to began fighting AQ toe to toe on their own (after we made significant efforts to train them).

One of my good friends just returned about a month ago and his TF did not lose a single Marine in 7 mos. (And he was in charge of a 3,600 sq mile zone) Unfortunately, just before returning their worst incident happened when some AQ approached one of the local Iraqi guard positions and twilight and were dressed in faked American uniforms. They called out claiming to be Americans and the local put down their weapons and allowed them to advance. Result, 5 dead.

Bottom line is that Clark’s claims are BS.

I really do believe that Wesley Clark has a mental issue. On one of the news cable shows he described the world going to a new world order. He said that China would be the world;s capital. The USA and other countries would be satellite countries of China. Very strange.

Ed, I wish you’d refer to Clark in your headlines as Secretary of State Clark, or Secretary of Defense Clark. That should get a few more votes for McCain.

This came as a shock to me just now. (I’ve been going through a viscous child custody battle with my X for my 2 small sons since 2004 and many things in the news have dropped though the cracks for me in the last few years during this fight).

In fact, some debated whether the two extra Marine battalions would be enough for the mission — which the Corps answered almost immediately by beginning their string of successes in the region.

My Father in Law was/is a Marine.. the toughest man I know.

yeah.. it was all a payoff.. not extra boots on the ground and the change in strategy of take and hold, then slowly give back to the Iraqis when they can prove they can hold the region..
