Video: Colbert vs. the environmentalists

posted at 8:47 pm on July 23, 2008 by Allahpundit

Via the ‘Busters, this one never quite hits the heights he reached in the similarly absurd Eleanor Holmes Norton interview, but as an evening blog cocktail it’ll do nicely, thanks. Oh, to be able to enjoy Colby’s and Stewart’s shows without the ideological aftertaste. Maybe in the next lifetime.

Colby is a comic genius. Stewart is a man that I loathe so much that I can not listen to two seconds of his spiel.

colbert is money….this sierra club guy is kinda funky…he says you an actually feel a tree alive when you hug it…that should discredit him right there

SoCalInfidel on July 23, 2008 at 8:57 PM

Seems like hugging trees may lead to this.

MB007 on July 23, 2008 at 9:02 PM

Agreed, Allah. Hate his politics, love his technique. Can’t stop laughing. And can’t understand how stupid these people have to be to come on Colbert’s show. In that sense, they deserve what they get, and a Darwin award besides.

Splashman on July 23, 2008 at 9:03 PM

Do you like trees?? Do you like breathing???

Yeah, I like both…but isn’t it pretty much common knowledge that there are more trees in the US NOW than there were 100 years ago???

I would pay good money to see Colbert take the Polar Bear(endangered..NOT!!..threatened..same thing for the bunny huggers) puppet and beat this simpering fool senseless….

but that’s just me…

BigWyo on July 23, 2008 at 9:23 PM

Every now and then, Colbert hits a home run.

He really is funny with this schtick. Just wish he’d lampoon the libs as much as us right-wingers.

But then his audience would turn on him, just like they did when Stewart dared to poke fun at Lord Obama.

Hawkins1701 on July 23, 2008 at 9:23 PM

I like the last part with the “Indanger” Polor Bears. That is what the Bears will do to us. They will eat our flesh. LOL LOL

BroncosRock on July 23, 2008 at 9:23 PM

I guarantee you the libs in the audience don’t like hearing the environmentalists referred to as a lobby. Too bad!

jimmy the notable on July 23, 2008 at 9:24 PM

“I will feast on your flesh!”
Colbert is good at what he does.
Where is the conservative version?

Arguably the best Stewart/Colbert moment.

Typhonsentra on July 23, 2008 at 9:37 PM

Oh Gawd! I was laughing my ass off at this. He friggin’ nails it.

Yakko77 on July 23, 2008 at 9:45 PM

Hey, I like to laugh at my own (conservatives) as much as I like to laugh at others (liberals). Colbert is a clever, creative and trenchant humorist. Usually his humor isn’t vitriolic. (Lefty vitriol ruins it for me.)
True, the Eleanor Holmes Norton interview was classic. But this was really good too.
Thanks.

“Grand Teton starring Bryce Canyon.” Haha.

Yoosaion on July 23, 2008 at 9:47 PM

John Muir crapped in the woods and probably ate Bear meat.
In fact Muir did everything in the woods anybody today would get a ticket for, not to mention Muir rode a wood fired locomotive to D.C. to complain to congress, sounds familiar.

Unlike Muir, some environmentalists want the entire human race to go back before Dentists, Doctors and living longer than 35 years.

Sierra Club go hike to hell.

Speakup on July 23, 2008 at 9:55 PM

That was funny. Nice teeth Sierra guy….

Dirthead on July 23, 2008 at 9:55 PM

I used to belong to the Sierra Club. They send a ton of direct mail when you quit. They don’t love trees. They love money.

fleiter on July 23, 2008 at 10:06 PM

sounds like we need to all join, and quit…to run up their expenses :)

Conservative Voice on July 23, 2008 at 10:25 PM

Colbert owned him. Give him a hat tip.
If I knew stuff like that was coming I would watch his show once in a while.

Kendrick on July 23, 2008 at 10:46 PM

LOL: Thanks AP. I missed last nights show.

I always blow dry my grapes after I get to home base with a tree. If not, it gets pretty clammy down there. ;-)

You just reminded me of this one cartoon, which I must call a classic.

newton on July 24, 2008 at 12:27 AM

That was freakin’ hilarious. I laughed out loud…literally!

Too funny.

Blissfully ignorant, the environmentalist movement personified.

Thats true but I wouldn’t want a Dentist to perform an appendectomy for me.

Speakup on July 24, 2008 at 1:03 AM

I used to think the Sierra Club were some of the sane ones.

“…Sleep lightly!”

ROFLMAO

“Thank you for flying 2500 miles across the county to talk to us.”

Priceless.

SuperCool on July 24, 2008 at 4:32 AM

Yup – Sierra Club did good things back in the 70′s. They are now just another part of the problem. ELF/ALF with suits and ties and lawyers.

rhodeymark on July 24, 2008 at 5:56 AM

Priceless. It is amazing that he still gets people to come interview him after skewering him like that.

CountryDoc on July 24, 2008 at 6:44 AM

Have you ever gone all the way with a tree? LMAO!

sabbott on July 24, 2008 at 7:01 AM

When ever you see an environmentalist filling up his car with gas or drinking a bottled water, you should slap the tar out of him.

Until those bastrds start following their own rules they can kiss my butt.

TheSitRep on July 24, 2008 at 7:54 AM

LOL @ sleep lightly hahaha

trailortrash on July 24, 2008 at 8:58 AM

One thing this interview does accomplish. It exposes the Sierra Club as the radicals that they are. Many view them as a more moderate org. Not so. They’re are a collection of U.S. hating anti-capitalists.
Its unfortunate that we have no politicians that have the backbone to aggressively oppose these slugs. Or do we? DD

Darvin Dowdy on July 24, 2008 at 8:58 AM

Ah, that was refreshing.

BadgerHawk on July 24, 2008 at 9:01 AM

Colbert is great and when interviewing liberals he does it with facts and humor, making libs the laughing stock they are. They know what they are getting into and think that they can make a difference by appearing on Colbert hoping to one up him. That is why the libs love Obombem because he has so much hope, but not substance.

MSGTAS on July 24, 2008 at 10:48 AM

He just mistook the knot he was rubbing up against for something….. else.
