Drudge is leading with the fact that he said he’d take no options off the table in dealing with them, but he’s said that before and was considerably more specific about which options he had in mind back when he was a senate candidate in 2004. Yes indeed, the Iranian nuke kabuki really has dragged on that long.
This is as close as we’re going to get to a red line statement about stopping Iran at all costs so savor the meaty specifics of “big sticks and big carrots.” Exit question: Is there even an iota’s difference between the position he articulates and Bush’s current position? We’re meeting with them face to face now and the results are literally laughable. Just this morning Ahmadinejad reiterated that we have nothing, essentially, to talk about. Obama alludes at one point to more robust sanctions, but after three rounds at the UN and another round forthcoming within the next two weeks, I don’t know why he thinks he’ll be able to do better than Bush unless he believes Beatles-esque waves of Obamamania are going to sweep through Russia and China, forcing their leadership to agree to any penalty the Messiah deems fit.
Update: Matt “Froggy” Heidt forwards this clip as a reminder of how Obama’s rhetoric changes when he’s in front of a U.S. audience versus an Israeli one.

I think Merkel can confirm Obama’s ability at “big-stick” diplomacy.

1st & 10 in the 1st Quarter?
4th Quarter 2 minutes left with 4 and inches?
whats the difference?
B.O. is for Surrender, with him as Commander-in-chief we lose.
Chakra Hammer on July 23, 2008 at 6:24 PM
Yes. Bush’s policy carries with it the weight of responsibility and consequence, while this shmuck can be a parrot without either.
Weight of Glory on July 23, 2008 at 6:25 PM
I heard this crap earlier today. Guess what Obama? Iran will:
Eat the carrot and then
Tell you where to cram the stick….

I feel much safer now that Michelle’s husband is watching out for me and my kids.

Offer big sticks and big carrots.. LMAO..
hmmm…
Iran says he B.O.. we don’t like what you’re cookin’ FU!

There’s a winner for ya. Clenis and Barry both love the sound of “surgical.” It insinuates zero collateral damage and pinpoint accuracy, in spite of the fact we don’t know where all the sites are located.

This is looking more and more like when JFK went for his first round of talks with Russia…weeks later, after much laughter at JFK’s weak showing, the Berlin wall was built.
JFK was shown to be a weak negotiator and a weak man, luckily he had a strong military to stop Russia shipping missiles to Cuba a little while later…but his wimpy attitude allowed it to bring us to a brink of world war.
These guys know only one thing…strength, just ask Kadafi after he pissed off Reagan.
Is Obama’s “aides” the MSM spinning the same way?

“A nuclear Iran would be a game-changing situation”
BRILLIANT!

Yeah, game changing as in “Game Over.”

Nobody has a clue what Obama stands for because even he doesn’t know what he stands for. He has taken both sides of an issue at the same time. He has a hard time remembering his position from day to day because the polls keep changing so fast. This is getting embarrassing to have someone so intellectually dishonest being considered for public office, much less president. If the Daly machine can pull this scam off, we will get what we deserve.

One of the things about the delightful freedom we have is that we all are allowed to go and make complete asses of ourselves. It is the consequences of these actions that the Libs are always trying to mitigate. Obama is out on the world stage showing what a total neophyte he is. I pray every day that he never occupies the WH.
bbz123 on July 23, 2008 at 6:44 PM
See, he’s black so all these specifics don’t matter.
We just have to vote for him with our gonads and our sense of being evil white people.

Waffle daily and carry a big carrot.- Barack “Teddy” Obama.
profitsbeard on July 23, 2008 at 6:48 PM
Where in the world has he been for the past 4 years? He acts like the nuclear situation just started this year! He is laughable!
I guess by the time he comes back to the states he will have changed his mind. He is embarrassing himself.
becki51758 on July 23, 2008 at 6:49 PM
Ok, so…
he admitted in the Terry Moran interview that his policy towards Pakistan is essentially the same as Bush’s
he admits here that there’s basically no difference between his policy towards Iran and Bush’s except that it’d be a new administration/new opportunity for them to capitulate to US demands re nukes and terrorist support
he wants more troops for Afghanistan just like McCain wants
he wants US troops out in 16 months (May2010 vs end of 2010/early 2011 which is what ground commanders are aiming for)
What’s next? Is he gonna say something about North Korea-that gig’s done.
I’m not seeing much difference between Obama and Bush in foreign policy. How do the nutroots love him?
scottm on July 23, 2008 at 6:51 PM
So is this what “post-masculine diplomacy” looks like?
Lee on July 23, 2008 at 6:53 PM
So,Obama says it!
“Many of these countries, including Iran have ties
to terrorist organization”
Well,shazam,and DUH,your kidding!!!!!
“I will take no options off the table”
Ya,well, will see if Pelosi, gets her sharp claws into Barack!!!
“Ah series of BIG STICKS and BIG CARROTS to the Iranian
Regime to stand down on this is a paramount concern”
Oh,that was really good,Obama here the solution,there’s
a really stiff wind, turn in that direction, and go Number 1,
you’ll have your answer!
This has got to be the best of the best!!!!
Behold,the best Liberalspeak,of Obama!!!!
“I think there are oppurtunities FOR US TO MOBILIZE A MUCH
MORE SERIOUS REGIME OF SANCTIONS ON IRAN”
Can someone splain,WTF,what a REGIME OF SANCTIONS ON IRAN
freaggin means!!!!!!!!!!
And there you have it,in all glorious Liberal speak!
canopfor on July 23, 2008 at 6:53 PM
FYI,just like Saddamm played games for about 10 or 12
years, not honouring any UN resolutions, the Iranians have
stalled for about 5 years!!!
The Iranian timeline endgame is over 5 years old,and their
still stalling,period!!!

The question is from what to what.

I’m reminded of this every time some fawning media idiot refers to Barry O as “Kennedyesque.”
They’d better be careful what they wish for — they might get it.

More Messiah lies if you are keeping track. The adolescent megalomaniac is dangerous, and the media are not calling him out on blatant fabrications and contradictions.

I have often yearned for the innocent days before 9/11. Now I yearn for the days before Obama. I have long surpassed my limit to take in any more about him. My head hurts.
carbon_footprint on July 23, 2008 at 8:58 PM
To me, the most frightening aspect of Obamasage’s comment is the fact that he is obvioulsy prepared to let Iran become a nuclear State.
OldEnglish on July 23, 2008 at 9:27 PM
I sure hope the folks that voted for this freshman disaster in the primaries, give it a long hard look in the general election. The hopenosis dope’s mouth is swift boating himself.
byteshredder on July 23, 2008 at 10:17 PM
In the second video,Obama says:
“we,we shouldn’t,ah ya know,Iran may spend 1/100th of what
we spend on the Military,I mean,if,if,Iran ever tried to
pose a serious threat to us,they,they wouldn’t stand a
chance”!
I hope Obama realizes that a lot of Americans have died
at the hands of the Iranians!
The Iranian’s have been at war with America, since 1979,the
“Hostage Crisis”!
Iranian goons have been training, suppling and killing
American’s in Irag!
And the way Obama is speaking of Iran,is very simple,
his comment “wouldn’t stand a chance”,in his Libspeak
is a hefty nuclear exchange of multiple MERV’s heading
on a downward spiral towards Tehran!

Unfortunately, he’s not the only one. If anyone was really serious about Iran, they would have been hit years ago, when it wouldn’t have been nearly as risky as today. Of course, with every passing day it just gets even riskier to deal with this problem. And the way everyone spazzed out when Israel ran those recent war games does not bode well. Not one bit.
Many in the West think that they can leave it to Israel to handle the situation, and then they (the Euros) can castigate and try to destroy Israel (for attacking Iran, of course), which makes it a two-fer. A dispensable country takes out an intolerable threat and is then dispensed with. But if people think that the middle east is a mess with Israel there they have NO IDEA how bad things would be if Israel were not there. Part of what keeps the middle east passably stable is that the arabs are obssessed with destroying Israel. If Israel were gone we’d get to see a full sunni-shiite war (along with ancillary inter-arab battles) that would end up destroying everything of value over there. There would be, in the end, nothing left for anyone. Just look at how Iran and Iraq fought each other and what Saddam did when he was driven out of Kuwait. Multiply that by 1000 and you’re getting close to how things would be without Israel to draw their attention.
