So the veteran points out that the claims were proven false. At which point the lefty launches into, “Get your right-wing fascist news out of my face”. So anything that proves their outrageous claims wrong must be “right-wing fascist news”.

What this article doesn’t say was that it was aimed twoards Military and veterans. Talkeetna (a VERY small town) is ticked at it’s news paper and more or less has started a different one out of protest. One out of every two people living in Talkeenta is a Veteran as well. Talk about dumb.

The first woman thinks that since they know no information then they should be set free, so we look past the whole killing thing.
Also she talks of the poetry, Hitler wrote books, i’m sure Castro, PolPot and Stalin were big on writing too, what was her point? If anything the lawyers should be held in prison for making the poetry public, who knows whats hidden in the messages.

Help me out here. It’s only tangentially related to this post, but I was wondering.
Isn’t Obama really just running a page out of the national socialist party handbook?
We have the charasmatic leader schtick. But more importantly than that–Obama is preaching a “government solves everything” attitude. He’s anti corporatist. Look at his recent proposal to do that national civilian force–to do, basically, the jobs private industry does.
I don’t think we can argue that Obama isn’t preaching a definitely more socialist platform than anyone else. He finds a scapegoat, “The rich” instead of a racial group.
Now, the nationalism part. The above I wrote isn’t news, but everyone ties “national socialism” to, well, militant nationalism. And as far as we know, Obama if anything hates America–he’s certainly not a “build the military to 200 divisions and invade Poland” kind of guy.
But what was the National Socialist party argument? That the country had been shamed by the Versailles treaty; they had been humiliated and needed to get their national honor back.
Isn’t that the same message Obama preaches? That the Bush administration has humiliated and cost the USA it’s honor, and we need to get it back? He IS promoting a sense of nationalism–a “feel good” nationalism. The USA needs to feel good about itself again–thus the “Hope and Change” Bit. He wants to make this a “country we can be proud of”–witness the Michelle Obama proud gaffe.
Am I totally off base, or is this really the national socialist ideas being peddled by Obama, with a slight update? Yeah, we don’t have the virulent racism, but we have the class envy, and the surrogate smears of Republicans as the evil scapegoats who drink the blood of babies, etc etc etc. Also the anti-Christianism. Or the ecological scary rhetoric.
Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting Obama is a Nazi. But I think he’s using their electoral platform a lot more than I feel comfy with. The National Socialist party got into power because they had an attractive platform for many people. And that platform, with a few twists, seems to be what Obama is preaching.
Or am I just being paranoid?

My son Nick was actually born in CA and spent the first 9 years of his life there. We moved out of the state when he was 9. When he was thinking about college it turned out that UCSB has an excellent foreign language dept. something he was very interested in. I refused to allow him to apply as I find it morally untenable that an American citizen should pay out of state tuition to a state college in which he was born while others, illegal, should be awarded in state tuition.
I understand that the tenant for this decision is that illegals will stay in the state and better to educate them than not. What about my son? He might also stay within the state after his education… He is, after all, a native son.

Since reading seems too hard for you, I will restate it: I wasn’t defending the left, I was merely pointing out that spitting on troops is not a common thing, especially when compared to the horrible times of the 70s when redeploying Soldiers were frequently spit on. I was not trying to say that those rare occurrences when it does happen are not as bad, or that the left is nice and cuddly, just that they don;t tend to spit on troops these days, contrary to what a previous commenter had claimed.
I’m sure your tiny little head is just spinning from the labyrinthine nuance of that…

Some reject flung RED pain on a bronze statue in the middle of Winter up here and it took forever to get off due to 1. the cold and 2. the detergant froze and they had to change to a special pressure washer. They are also having someone throw a special motoroil on National Monuments AROUND the Nation which is actually eating the Granite!

I’m a Soldier. Never been spit on. Only been thanked walking in public. When I was at Berkeley, I had friends in ROTC who drilled on the rugby field. Never spat on. They got some ugly looks once in a while. Never more than that.
Isolated incidents do not an epidemic make. The public is overwhelmingly supportive, and most non-military Americans would likely want to kick the ass of someone who spit on Soldiers. Even Code Pink doesn’t seem to do that sort of thing.
Again, people seem slim on the inclination or the ability to read what I said, as I was comparing it to the 1970s, when crowds of dozens would frequently spit on Soldiers getting off airplanes fresh from Vietnam.
Has a redeploying Soldier been spit on even once during this war? If so, was it more than some lone wacko?
I know getting all pumped up and angry and talking about kicking people’s asses makes everyone feel really good about themselves, but try and show some perspective. As a Soldier and professional, that’s what I try to do.

Haven’t read previous comments, but i have to say… why is it that these people have no problem getting out in the street and showing their asses, but don’t wanna be filmed doing it…i guess the answer is that being filmed is ok as long as they arent caught on tape showing how moronic and clueless they are about their own “cause”.
Reminds me of the people on the “Bullshit” episode who signed a petition to ban water without the slightest hesitation.

My name is Dennis (1GooDDaDDy). Just a guy from Elk Grove CA .
On Memorial Day la few weeks ago here in Sacramento CA, my Dad (a WWII and Korea war vet), my two small boys (7 and 10) and I (Viet Nam combat vet) placed 232 American flags (1 flag for every year we’ve been a republic) around the “Anti Iraq War” protesting so called “Peace Display” at the foot of the State Capital.
They placed 120,000 small white flags depicting all the Iraqi civilians that were killed because of the war, but not one American flag in sight. Oh, as an after thought they put down 4000 red flags for our fallen heros too. (My words not theirs).
They politicized our national holiday for their own agenda.
On Memorial Day.
The “Peaceniks” there didn’t like what we did, as you can imagine, and it showed on the video tape that I recorded of their antics over the course of the morning, including me getting “smacked” in the head by their main “Spokes-mouth for Peace”.
I spent all last week piecing the project together and finally uploaded it to youTube last night. I had to break it down to 5 Parts to be able to get it all excepted for the “tube”.
It’s rather long I’m afraid (5 ten minute segments). However, I wanted to tell our families story from beginning to end, and not just make it a series of “sound bites” or have our story “taken out of content” or misunderstood in any way.

These people are fed this crap by some in the media. It’s ashame they so willingly dine on it. Even sadder is that the media reports little on all the good that our military has done. For instance the great tsunami of December 2004. Look at all the money our country sent there to help those in need. Yet we are facist pigs? They also choose to ignore all the good that has been done in Iraq, schools, hospitals, water treatment plants, sewer plants, power plants, and so on. Yes there may be few who actually go out and protest like this but, there are those who buy into that crap too and dont show it in protest. What a shame so many have fought and died for our freedoms only to be spat upon by those who abuse that freedom.

I watched all 5 parts, and it is awesome. I need to catch the Boulder-ites here in Colorado on tape like this. I’m glad you had backup, GooDDaDDy. That seemed dangerous to me, but I’m a skinny 170lb white guy who has never been in a scrap.

National Socialism, otherwise known as Nazism, utilized portions of the conservative movement to attract members of the Right in Germany in order to elect Hitler to power. Once that occurred and they were no longer needed, they were discarded.
Many mistakenly view Nazism as identical to Facism, which it is not. Although Hitler used some elements of Facism in the earlier years, National Socialism/Nazism is MUCH MORE SOCIALIST than it will ever be a right-wing ideology.
Therefore, to view Obama’s campaign in this light, whether accurately or not, appears to me to be an interesting analogy worth pursuing, especialy given his 20 years in a “church” that preaches a Marxist, more than a religious, ideology, known as black liberation theology.
I think you may less paranoid than you think…
