As for how well Europe is doing–France gets 80% of its electricity from nuclear power plants, without CO2 emissions. Now, which candidate was mentioning building them here? Sorry, can’t mention that–there’s no money in it for Big Al!

Correction: SOLAR is the absolute worst ($30,000 cost to generate not-quite-enough energy to power a toaster when the sun is shining), with wind a distant second-worst.

No commercial power-generating windmills would ever be built except for the unreasonably high PTC Tax Credits ($21/MWH in 2008) and foolish state mandates. The costs of both of these come out of YOUR pocket…and are thus a TAX on you to pay for an unreliable energy source which you probably cannot use and which makes no economic sense!!!

The costs of building, maintaining, and using wind have been vastly understated and buried by the developers and leftist advocates for these things. In addition, major costs like power lines, power conditioning and regulating, and coordination of putting the sources on line and taking them off line (so the power lines don’t pop and so all of your appliances don’t blow out) have been pawned off on existing utilities and forced into consumer power rates: another TAX!!

The fact is that wind technology never pays: it is hugely expensive. When capital, installation, operation, and maintenance costs are honestly figured in the same manner as you would for coal, oil, gas, or nuclear, you will find that wind is vastly more expensive and than any of the alternatives. I would also argue that wind is also more environmentally intrusive due to the huge amount of land it requires, as well as a vast new network of power lines and associated infrastructure strewn all over the country.

So when you hear T. Boone (”Pocket”) Pickins and his bright ideas on wind, remember that the money he wants to “invest” (Liberalese for “pour down a rat hole”) is YOURS!!!

I don’t know nearly enough about cars to recognize hybrid models on sight, but I have to assume that’s what these are. Not even a hypocrite of the Goracle’s magnitude would dare roll up to a speech on gas prices and conservation in these hogs.

Well, aside from the fact that I can’t believe you’d put anything past this guy, I don’t believe Lincoln makes a Town Car hybrid, nor do I believe Chevy makes a hybrid Suburban. Chevy does have a hybrid Tahoe, but as far as I can tell, they do not make a Suburban hybrid.

Every time we see Gore’s hypocrisy I’m reminded of Coulter’s line (I’ll paraphrase, because I don’t remember it word for word): At least now we know he’s not stupid, he’s just a liar. Because if he really believed in the “emergency” he’s always screaming about, he wouldn’t take private jets, gas guzzlers, etc.

I always take it a step further. In his position of supposed authority, he should never travel unless absolutely necessary. His people always say he has to travel around the world for awareness, etc. But that’s a lie. Why not appear via satellite or web cam? We all see reporters on TV via satellite every day… certainly this isn’t secret technology, hidden from the former VP. We also have tweens using video chat on their instant messengers. Surely the inventor of the internet is aware of this capability.

That all came to me one day as I saw him going back and forth between the east and west coast to promote his movie on all the morning and late night shows. I couldn’t help but wonder why he took planes so much, when he could have appeared via satellite or internet. In fact, making that stance, and just setting a TV or computer monitor on the guest chair at these shows could have been a big publicity stunt that would have gotten his crockumentary even more attention.

Bottom line – Gore is a tremendous POS.
