It’s come to this: ABC accuses McCain of using subliminal messages in Obama ad

The perfect ending to “It’s just a f***ing cartoon” week. See if you can figure out from this screencap what the accusation is before clicking the link:

Now watch to see how long that particular image is onscreen:
If images of sleeping white children equal Klan propaganda and the word “elitist” equals a racial slur and a video transfer artifact equals nefarious skin-darkening hijinks, then — yeah, I guess this amounts to accusing Obama of being a terrorist. What elevates the ABC piece from idiocy to evil genius, though, is this flourish, which proves not that they learned no lesson from the New Yorker fiasco but that they learned exactly the wrong lesson:
A McCain aide told ABC that it was primarily put together by an editor who had about 48 hours to throw it together in advance of Obama’s foreign trip.
Still, in this era of hyper-analysis — and in the very week that a non-subtle New Yorker cover was blasted as beyond the bounds of satire — should something like this have slipped by Team McCain?
They’re using the overreaction of elitist imbeciles earlier in the week not as a cautionary tale for everyone to mellow out but as reason to ratchet up the paranoia. Think of it as a negligence case, with the insane uproar over the New Yorker cover serving as the new legal standard of reasonableness: Because the leftist intelligentsia is (a) nuts, and (b) known to fly off the handle for political advantage at any opportunity, it was therefore foreseeable that they’d scrutinize McCain’s ads for subliminal messages, which in turn makes McCain negligent for not vetting his ads to make sure they’re safe for nuts to watch. Is it too soon for another vacation?

Heh. This is going to be so much fun.
The MSM is already full-tilt into the meme that anything that does not actively stimulate Obama’s schwanz is a racist attack against him, including, according to racist ass-clown Julian Bond, voting for Obama.
I have been snapping at those who keep predicting race riots by November, but I’m starting to wonder how on earth that can be avoided. Every single media source that penetrates the left wing’s iron curtain screams “you blacks are the victims of a racist lynching!”
Ugh.

I’m much more concerned that the McCain Web ad is somewhat confusing, or at least chronologically confusing, and thus not that effective. Also, it’s just too long. Am I off base here?

Okay, this is completely off topic, but I wanted all day for a thread about Tony Snow’s funeral yesterday. I have looked for a video on line and read in the paper what President Bush said to his children. I did find pictures on line of his family following the casket. Just wanted to say farewell to a fine human being.

Terrye, this anectdotal too; but I live in Atlanta, the most liberal, Democratic, black, corrupt, Alternative Lifestyles big city in America, outside of San Francisco!
I play racquetball 2 times a week, with a bunch of guys half my age, have been for about 6 years.
We talk about….Racquetball…..
The guys run the gamut from White to Asian Americans…
Last week, for the first time, the in-between-game conversation shift too…..Obama….
I finally threw caution to the wind, and said, I know you all are probably Obama fans, but I consider him the most dangerous politician I’ve seen in America, in my lifetime…
Pregnant pause….
Finally, the Korean-American spoke up and said “You know, that’s what my family and friends are telling me, all the time..”
Then, the Vietnamese-American kid nodded assent, and said “Same here….”
I almost had a heart-attack!
I wonder?
These guys are “liberal young Democrats” in every sense of the word; and ALL their Family and Friends are discussing Obama as “dangerous”!
I just wonder, how accurate these “polls” are?
Dale in Atlanta on July 18, 2008 at 10:50 PM
Cool! At least Elvis didn’t hesitate to crawl into the M48. And believe me, the M48 was an unforgiving beastie. As for the love child, well, you have to admit that Harry Reid is nothing like his daddy.

When will you evil neo-cons realize that you aren’t allowed to critize Obama!? Racists! Scaremongerers!
Seriously though, I say it’s 50/50 that team McCain will pussy out and remove the ad. If this nonsense gets enough play (i.e. hangs around through the weekend) I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone “resign” and apologize.

To add to the anecdotal stuff…..My daughter lives in SoCal. Her friends at work are blue collar union dem bots. She is a Tancredo-fuel injected-southern facing bus-Republican. She was at lunch and the ’subject’ was finally brought up (after the margarita’s flowed). She called to tell me how shocked she was. They all thought Barry was the most dangerous man in America. Now I realize that won’t win CA for McCain, but it sure was nice to hear.

I HATE to tell “annecdotes” like this, because
a) it gives me hope that McCain may actually win
b) it gives me a false sense of security that America secretly “gets it”
c) I don’t want to be crushed when McCain blows this, and I have to live with Barack HUSSEIN Obama (PBUH)(SAW)(SWT) in the Oval Office for 4 years, when he finally throws off the mantle of “Taqiyah“, and proceeds to screw us in unimaginable and inventive ways for 4 years..
d) I don’t have enough money to move to Southern Spain for 4 years, when Obama does get elected…
e) the Mary Celeste…oh sorry, wrong list…
Dale in Atlanta on July 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM
I don’t know. Can you give me a hint?
coldshot on July 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM
OK, here should be the plan.
RNC and McCain should pull out of the Presidential race. Support all the other races and throw it back in the faces of the media. Every interview, tell them how there is no reason to run against the saint Obama, how you cant criticize Obama without being called a racist.
So, America, if this is the World you want to live in, elect the Democrats to Congress and the Senate, but if you believe in decent, free speech, freedom of religion, right to bear arms, if you believe in the Constitution of the United States, vote Republican.
If you want to shut up Rush Limbaugh, get Fox News off the air, the return of the fairness doctrine, have every commercial analyzed by the thought police, then vote Democratic.

That subliminal message worked on me convinced me Obama is a lying, pandering, vacuous numbskull that has no idea who he is, where he stands, where he is going or how he got where hes at. Lacking in morality, basic intelligence and decency to honestly argue a point he holds today doesn’t hold tomorrow but will hold next week if he percieves in his small little mind it benefits him or his socialist/ marxist cause.
It works, worked on me! Come on, bring it on, more please, show America who this fool, tool is.

Walk into Wal-Mart. You can purchase a Visa or MasterCard with a CASH balance (like an ATM card). It is accepted as a credit card by everyone. Unless someone lists the individual IPs on the campaign contribution disclosure there is NO WAY TO verify the donation limits.

Totally agree. As long as the ‘credit card’ number and CCID number match the transaction goes through. A very nifty way to launder cash. The initiating card holder can’t be found.
Now the card had a purpose when it was set up that way…so people with bad credit could get hotels, car rentals, airline tickets, etc etc, but I seriously doubt that identification is verified on purchase. The retailers just want the cash and could care less about where it came from or where it is going.

If the “a al qD” thing was intentionally done, we should just say cool! and let the sissies on the Left throw their usual hissy fit about it. Compared to the dirty tricks they do on the Right every waking minute of the day via their “mainstream” media…
Halley on July 19, 2008 at 2:16 AM
They’re filtering it in through small donations because federal law only requires campaigns to itemize donations when a donor gives more than $200.
http://www.nysun.com/article/71113
‘However, one area of concern with the flood of donations, particularly those made online, is that foreigners could be weighing in illegally in an American election. Mr. Obama’s Web site allows donors to choose an address in one of 227 possible countries or territories, including Iran, Iraq, Zimbabwe, and Yemen
A torrent of secret money is flooding into the leading presidential campaigns, with more than $118 million, or one-quarter of the total raised in this cycle, banked without disclosure of who gave the funds or where the donations originated.’

More on secret monies from Atlas Shrugs Obama, who is Jeanne McCurdy?
“…There are way too many overseas contributions and I find it hard to believe they are all American citizens. How does the FEC monitor that? Some of contributions appear to be “bundled” from one person as source to hide the contributions of many, and an example of one among many such “incidents” will clearly show why I arrive at such a conclusion..
A red flag is a donor like Jeanne McCurdy. Look at the contribution excerpt below. It’s a compilation of a mere four pages of listings, pages 40-44, approximately 9% of the pages of the total document I received, and it lists contributions made by a Jeanne McCurdy, who is always listed as unemployed, and who does not have an address at least as can be found in the files provided (and, as you might well expect, no phone number or email address either).
John did a computation of her contributions from roughly Aug. 07 through Feb/Mar of 08, and it is over $1200. She ranges from a $15 to a $400 contribution, most running $25/35 to $50. Several of her separate contributions are listed on the same day, a very curious way to make campaign contributions, which are usually in response to mailed solicitations. (She should accumulate them, save on postage…) .
The important point to remember about illegal contrbutions is that you can win they election using them and the only result will be a fine after the fact.
At the moment the FEC is impotent because the Dems will not appoint any new members and there are not enough members for a quorum.
Any action after the fact would probaly entail impeachment proceedings and that requires the assistance of the majority on Congress. I doubt the Dems would impeach the second Black president.

What’s really going to be fun to watch is the reaction by the Drive-By Media as Obama fails to gain traction with the American people. We aren’t the ignorant rubes that the media believes us to be and we aren’t going to fall for this guys act. Of course there’s the campaign of John McAmnesty to counter this idiot which is an entirely different issue…

I was watching a show on pbs last night , I think washington week, all leftist journalists (washPo, nytimes, etc.). They were giving barry credit for the announcement by the White House of some kind of “horizon” for iraq withdrawl. They said it was his idea. We just moved to Maryland, just outside DC, and I see a ton of Obama ‘08 bumper stickers on the morning commute. But, in Arkansas, where I moved from, and while home in Missouri, on leave, I saw VERY few. My Dad, a die-hard Democrat, Vietnam vet, and proud Union factory worker, says Obama gives him the creeps, and plans to vote McCain. My aunts and uncles all say the same thing.
