Woman with 14% approval rating: Bush is a total failure

This is big news, apparently, although I haven’t the slightest idea why. Rhetorically it’s par for the course among the Democratic leadership; by the base’s standards, it’s downright polite. We’ve already reached the point, remember, of House Democrats “joking” openly at public hearings about Al Qaeda killing Bush administration officials. Be happy that she stopped short of wishing him death. Or is the objection that what she said was inaccurate? Per his approval rating (and the fact that the GOP wants to get his appearance at the convention out of the way on the first night), most of the country agrees that he’s a failure. Chalk the hyperbole in the word “total” up to irritation at the fact that his ratings, miserable though they are, are still twice as high as hers and of course to the sort of mindless Democratic partisan exaggeration that leads morons like Harry Reid to insist as recently as a month ago that Iraq was trapped in an “intractable civil war.”
Click the image to watch. Or better yet, skip it and follow this link for video of this loser trying and totally failing to explain to Wolf Blitzer why we can’t drill offshore in protected areas even though 73% of the public wants it and the oil companies say it represents a more robust opportunity than dry-land drilling. Single digits, here she comes!

The offshore ban is her Iraq War. Bush was unpopular for taking a stand for America’s own good. . . this is Pelosi using her turn. . . respect mah authority type.
Of course the Iraq war was necessary for the future and isn’t directly felt by most Americans. But Oil prices are directly a result of Congress’ policies. Why does congress have the right to restrict drilling anyway? They are literally standing in the way of progress, and Pelosi won’t admit it.
ThackerAgency on July 17, 2008 at 7:50 PM
Bull. 50% of Americans support ending the war, while 49% support staying until the job is done. That doesn’t explain a 7-14% approval rating no matter how much you spin it.
According to Rasmussen, she’s already there.

In effect she’s saying that the Oil Companies need to drill a bunch of dry holes first and then she’ll consider letting them drill in the places the chance of striking oil is higher. She’s lucky she represents the “fruits and nuts” or else she’d be out on her ear.

I predict that she will have to cave, at least partially, on this issue.
The current Dem leadership seems to have a habit of drawing a deep, obvious line in the sand just before they have to cross it.
Not that I’m complaining about how well it demonstrates their “leadership abilities,” of course.

Poor Pelosi. She will run the Democrats into the ground and will wonder why they lost Congress? Talk about a slow learner.
As for our President? While I have a few bones to pick with him, especially on immigration, we are on the verge of winning the Iraq War! His legacy is looking good with a democracy in Iraq and no terror attacks for seven years after 9/11.
The Democrats are trying to tank the economy and blame it on Republicans. It’s back firing! I would enjoy it more if I wasn’t paying 3.85 for a gallon of gas (Tucson is some of the lowest in the country!)

Wow would that be a typically dem disaster, use the reserve up as a political play only to have it diminished in times of conflict, just how un-strategic can you get? Why doesn’t the press ever ask the Dems why these leases are not being drilled? In California every single unused lease is tied up in lawsuits. They sue to stop them from drilling, then blame them for not drilling.

Remember this moron is talking to her moron voters, not real rational thinking people. It takes a while to figure that out.
But the fly in the ointment, even a moron understands there is a problem when they go to the gas station for a fill-up, or to the supermarket for food.
And they seem to be able to figure out … drill here, drill now, payless.
BTW, the APS today tossed AGW over the transom. Lord Monckton’s summary of the false IPCC record is the start point for the new debate. How shall I say it, the consensus that never was, is never more.

Actually, her approach to drilling will eventually lead to the the same outcome. Since the surface of the earth is a closed set, you will find the same oil by drilling where it isn’t as you will by drilling where it is. Of course, it takes a lot longer…

Remember the 2006 elections? The new Democratic Congress promised to (1) end the war in Iraq, (2) bring down gas prices, and (3) be the most ethical Congress evah.
How did they do? (1) We’re still in Iraq (and doing much better now, despite the efforts of “the war is lost” Dims — including “the surge won’t curb the violence and will only cause more violence” Obama [version 2007*]). (2) Gas prices have doubled. (3) This Congress has shown itself to be one of the most corrupt, incompetent, and unethical groups of people ever assembled in one place on this planet.
And Pelosi, the architest of this massive failure of a Congress, is calling Bush a failure? Hypocrisy, thy name is Nancy.
__________
*not to be confused with Obama (version 2008): “I said all along that the surge would work.”

Being called a failure by Nancy Pelosi is like being called stupid by…Nancy Pelosi?
jl on July 17, 2008 at 8:43 PM
What an obnoxious woman. Does she have any idea how most people see her?
I do not consider Bush a failure. In fact whatever his job approval ratings might be, his personal favorability ratings have been good. Most people do not hate George Bush. Today I was at a client’s home and they had Mike and Mike on ESPN and they were talking about a sports/kid event they went to at the White House. Neither of them had been invited to anything like that before and they had nothing but good things to say. They did not get political about it all and they were very nice about the president.
Most people are not as partisan as people like Pelosi and one the reasons the public supposedly liked Obama was that he was supposed to be above this sort of thing.
Bush is still popular among Republicans and while they might want to get his speech out of the way the first night, so what? He is not the one getting the nomination.
But Congress has not made anyone anywhere happy. And 14% might be high. Last I heard Rasmussen had them at 9%.

So it’s Bush and the Republicans not doing their part, eh Pelosi? Her well-run House succeeded and the Senate, again in Democrat hands, mucked it up. “Fifty-nine” she repeats ad nauseum.
Apart from pulling an Obama and throwing Reid under the proverbial bus, I’d be curious to know which bills she’s speaking of and what the specific roll calls were to those respective bills. What we know is that Obama has been avoiding votes like the plague for several months as he lives on the campaign trail and away from anything that would commit him to a position. He needs lots of changing room. So, if all these bills had crested at fifty nine, where was this part time Senator’s vote to get to the magical number, the number so urgently needed to bypass the “obstructionist” and puppy-chewing Republicans?
I suspect that Pelosi is as disingenuous as she is incompetent.

I would say the passage of the 19th amendment and prohibition (which is indisputably linked), delineates the high water mark of American Democracy. All the predictions voiced by the those at the time who opposed the amendment have all come to fruition. Have they not? Given free reign, what have women wrought? Repeal the Nineteenth Amendment
“Were our State a pure democracy . . . there would yet be excluded from their deliberations . . . women, who, to prevent depravation of morals and ambiguity of issue, should not mix promiscuously in the public meetings of men.” Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval (Sept. 5, 1816), in 10 Writings of Thomas Jefferson 45-46, n. 1 (P. Ford ed. 1899).
To the woman he said, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you”, Genesis 3:16
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety, 1 Timothy 2:11-15
[June 10, 2005: This page and this movement are hereby dedicated to the woman voter who voted to send men to Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, and Iraq, exercised authority over a man in violation of God's Law above, and then complained that it was men who started wars and that men who had been taught to kill in Vietnam are "violent"]
We the undersigned, hereby demand that the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads:
AMENDMENT XIX Passed by Congress June 4, 1919. Ratified August 18, 1920. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
shall be repealed.
September 19, 1998
Copyright 1999 “Repeal the Nineteenth”tm
The Nineteenth Amendment caused government spending to skyrocket, which converted the United States, its Constitution, and its Bill of Rights, into a totalitarian state. Professor John Lott of the Law School University of Chicago proved statistically that it was women’s suffrage, and nothing else, which caused this unbridled government growth. Spending too much for government destroyed private property rights, plunged the US into huge debts and destroyed Personal Savings. Professor Lott demonstrated that the reason the increase in federal expenditures resulting from the First World War didn’t return to its previous historic level was due solely to the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1921. This unbridled government growth is why one third of the men in the world who are behind bars are American men, why an American man is 1,000 times more likely than a Japanese or an Italian or a Greek man to be convicted of rape, why more Americans per capita are incarcerated for just drinking and driving than Japanese are for all crimes combined even though a non-drinking woman driver is five times more likely to have a fatal accident than a drinking man driver, why existing adultery and sodomy laws are not upheld, and why the US is the only industrialized nation with a negative Personal Savings rate.
Until the Nineteenth Amendment is repealed, Christian women are invited to sign the following proxy statement, file it with their local county recorder, and fax the signed statement to 866 721 5995

The Ugly American on July 17, 2008 at 10:17 PM
“It started as an ancient Egyptian custom and there are wall carvings to prove it. It seems to have its origin in snake worship. The Egyptians believed that when the snake shed its skin, and emerged shiny and new again, it was undergoing rebirth. They reasoned that if, by shedding skin, the snake could become apparently immortal, then humans should follow suit. They made the simple equation: snakeskin = foreskin, and the operation began. From there it spread to many Semetic peoples, both Arabs and Jews adopting it and converting it into an act of religious faith. As the centuries passed, it became popular in other regions of the world for moral, medical, or hygenic reasons. ” From the book, Babywatching by Desmond Morris.
Non-religious circumcision began in England inthe late 1800s and it became extremely popular in English-speaking countriesbetween 1920 and 1950. England introduced the practice to the U.S. At the time, it was believed that masturbation caused a host of differentillnesses. Masturbation was considered extremely immoral and many children, both male and female, have been circumcised throught the years because parentsdiscovered them “in the act.” To this day, who doesn’t remember thethreat associated with masturbation that “you’ll go blind?”
It was known even in the late 1800s that the removalof the foreskin (the only moveable part of the penis) would reduce sexualsensitivity and restrict movement of the penile shaft.
A noted Jewish sage, Rabbi Moses Maimonides inhis Guide to the Perplexed, expressed the following:
“…people believe that circumcision is to removea defect in man’s formation… How can products of nature be deficient soas to require external completion, especially as the use of the foreskinto that organ is evident. This commandment has not been enjoined as a complementto a deficient physical creation, but as a means for perfecting man’s moralshortcomings. …Circumcision simply counteracts excessive lust; for thereis no doubt that circumcision weakens the power ofsexual excitement, and sometimes lessens the natural enjoyment…”
It was believed that masturbation caused blindness, mental illness, alcoholism, epilepsy and a host of other ills. It thereforemade sense to some physicians that genital surgery would stop masturbationand prevent the onset of these illnesses.
“A remedy [for masturbation] which is almost alwayssuccessful in small boys is circumcision…” The operation should be performedby a surgeon without administering an anesthetic, as the pain attending theoperation will have a salutary effect upon the mind, especially if it beconnected with the idea of punishment…” John Harvey Kellog, M.D., Treatmentfor Self-Abuse and Its Effects, Plain Facts for Old and Young, Burlington,Iowa; F. Segner & Co., 1888.
When it was finally realized that masturbationdid not cause illnesses, the foreskin became the blame for penile and cervicalcancers, urinary tract infections andsexuallytransmitted diseases.
Allof the medical reasons for circumcision have been eliminated by experts.Circumcised men are not immune to suffering from these diseases. The surgeryoffers no warranty.
