Can we not see what is going on here? The liberals are DESPERATE to make this campaign about “Republican smears” even if they have to blatantly keep putting the smears out themselves! They keep trying to bait McCain into a personal attack on Obama, and so far he isn’t playing along. So they pull something like this in the New Yorker just to get the “Republican smears” meme out there. They have succeeded in turning this into a week-long story and teasing out a whole bunch of stupid comments on consrervative blogs saying “what’s the big deal, everything in that cartoon was true.” They are going to beat us over the head with these comments the rest of the campaign.

But…but..but…Obama said the cartoon offended Muslims! I think we all know this isn’t true. No embassies have been burned over it.

I’d like to suggest that these were incredibly irresponsible comments made by Obama on Larry King. Obama KNOWS The New Yorker wasn’t trying to offend Muslims, but I get the feeling that Obama thinks it’d be kinda neat if a bunch of extremists got pissed off and torched the place. In my view, he’s holding the match going “Here crazy Muslim. Come and get it. Here boy.”

Actually, the issue is about a lefty magazine trying to shield Obama from those evil righty racial and religious slurs that they are sure to start slinging any day now. Remember, it’s coming from the Left. Notice that at no time do the fingers leave the hand.

The New Yorker blew it, so now Mr. Stewart has to play his role: “Cartoons are harmless. It’s a joke.”

Expect the magazine (or another lefty rag) to put out an offensive McCain cartoon. Then they (Stewart included) can say, “It’s just a cartoon!”, ignoring the fact that it is again coming from the Left. What makes the difference is that, instead of attempting to shield an ally, they’ll be genuinely attacking an enemy.

Stand by.

So how, exactly, is a cartoon which portrays Barak Obama as a Muslim “insulting?” And is Barak saying that associating him with his relatives is insulting to Muslims, or insulting to him, or both?

Whether you choose to call this kind of circular thinking satire or inanity, one thing is obvious: Barak Obama and The New Yorker are on exactly the same wavelength.

There is nothing to this cartoon except what you bring with you. If my father had been a Presbyterian and The New Yorker portrayed me as one, would I feel insulted for that church, or for myself? Or would I assume it was meant as a wink-and-nod to the throngs of small-minded “racists” out there who aren’t capable of imagining that some Presbyterians aren’t rabidly evil?

Or would I just say what everyone knows, but some twits are too self-consciously pretentious to admit: that the New Yorker isn’t funny?

I found it humorous and accurate and honestly
don’t give a damn what those two think of it.
It is nothing by comparison to all of the trash that Ted Rall creates.

Just curious. Cuz I, um, have some concerns.
