there is and will be no respect accorded this fake no matter how much the media pushes. Its going to take a lot more than a pretty speech by the community activist to win them over. In fact, there is no way Obama can overcome the character deficit he has. This isn’t “fixed” with policy. Its the character stupid. The left just does not get it.

The trip to Iraq is a photo op for an audience that does not include the military or the defense establishment. The military knows when it is being used as a prop.

At the risk of offending some Midwestern sensibilities around here, take it from me the military is going to wipe its collective ass with Obama. The level of vitriol in the ranks against this effete anti American moron is huge already.

Obama in early 2007: The surge will never work. Vote for me and I’ll pull our troops out of Iraq’s civil war.

Obama now: The surge worked so well that the troops aren’t needed in Iraq. Vote for me and I’ll bring them home.

Obama is now trying to ride the success of a strategy he claimed would fail, to bask in the victory of the troops and his opponent’s strategy without giving either any credit. Attitude, never gratitude.

As duplicitous as it is, Obama’s POLITICAL strategy might work if the media continues to cover up what REALLY happened in Iraq over the past 18 months–that the change in strategy brought the Sunnis to our side against Al Qaeda, and gave the Maliki government the strength and unity to chase out rebels of all stripes.

McCain needs to explain (through ads) that it was his strategy (and that of General Petraeus) that turned things around when things were going badly in Iraq, and that we need a Commander in Chief with military experience willing to listen to his commanders on the ground if other threats arise (Iran, for example), not a “sunshine soldier” ready to jump on the victory bandwagon when others have done the tough stuff.
