Video: USA stumbles in Vietnam again

From last night’s Miss Universe pageant, insert booby-trap joke here. Decades of ambition, spoiled in a split second’s miscalculation: It’s like the Olympics, except much, much hotter. She took it like a champ, naturally, as did the previous Miss USA when she fell down at last year’s contest. The difference between then and now? Our gal got a much warmer reception in Vietnam than she did in Mexico.
Oh, and for the record, Miss Colombia was totally gypped.

Welcome back, Allah. It’s been entirely too serious around here!
NeighborhoodCatLady on July 14, 2008 at 10:14 AM
AP’s back! Sweet, dude!
It’s time to get back to model, iPhone, robot humping, etc. stories.
For the record, Hugo Chavez to capitalize on this moment for propaganda purposes in 5…4…3…2…
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on July 14, 2008 at 10:16 AM
What’s with all the Miss USAs falling on their asses? What are they drinking before they head out there to strut their stuff?
TheBigOldDog on July 14, 2008 at 10:17 AM
Miss Mexico tampered with her heel…

Any pictures of Mrs. Lesbo?
WoosterOh on July 14, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Missed ya, man. Fortunately, I have been out of the country for the non-stop McCain orgy at Hot Air the last few weeks.
Valiant on July 14, 2008 at 10:22 AM
I totally agree. Miss Colombia was in a class by herself. Although, unlike me, I think the judges base their decisions on more than just looks. Why that is, I’m not sure.
Zetterson on July 14, 2008 at 10:23 AM
Ya; Miss Colombia wa hawt!
Frozen Tex on July 14, 2008 at 10:25 AM
They’re all too thin and fake. That chick is not even very pretty anyway with that big hair.
Vatican Watcher on July 14, 2008 at 10:25 AM
Allah,
Ed’s been mean to us and posting liberal propaganda!
j/k welcome back wherever you went.
Vincenzo on July 14, 2008 at 10:29 AM
Heh, I just watched that, my 5 yr old daughter asked me if miss USA was a princess. I said no, this is a contest, my daughter says, “she’s beautiful!” Yes dear, she is.
4shoes on July 14, 2008 at 10:30 AM
Geez, was FARC on the judging panel?
BohicaTwentyTwo on July 14, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Hey, at least she managed to recover in style.
pilamaye on July 14, 2008 at 10:34 AM
Oh, I feel so sorry for Miss USA. So sad.
And I agree that Miss Colombia was the prettiest. Miss Mexico should have finished 3rd IMO.
Oink on July 14, 2008 at 10:35 AM
Welcome back AllahPundit. In case you were wondering what you missed while you were gone, there was a 200+ comment headline entitled:
“Homosexual behavior is common in nature.”
(I’ll bet he’s sorry he missed that one.)
My collie says:
Ed TRIED to incite a riot while you were gone, but I’m afraid that he just doesn’t incense or p*ss people off with your same inimitable style.
CyberCipher on July 14, 2008 at 10:42 AM
That’s because Vietnam is now our friend and Mexico remains our enemy.
MB4 on July 14, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Wha???
Unless by orgy you meant screw McCain.
fogw on July 14, 2008 at 10:46 AM
This pageant was a huge metaphor for the 2008 Presidential election.

Some people need to work hard for their skills, and for others, it’s a gift.
wise_man on July 14, 2008 at 10:48 AM
You’re right. Miss Colombia could make me make a Juan Valdez donkey out of myself…
Captain Scarlet on July 14, 2008 at 10:49 AM
What I want to know is how the hell that Russian chick made it to the final five. She looked like a man. I kept looking for the telltale Adam’s apple.
sheesh on July 14, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Yeah, she looked almost cross-eyed. None of the final five except Colombia were really breathtaking. Dominican Republic was beautiful but just not in the same league.
Allahpundit on July 14, 2008 at 10:55 AM
Miss Venezuala is hawt, Miss columbia is hawt also, I approve of both.
Rode Werk on July 14, 2008 at 10:55 AM
Pft Australia beat all these ladies hands down. We need to step back to six or so years ago when that Russian girl who liked guns won.
Rbastid on July 14, 2008 at 10:56 AM
If it was up to me, last years winner (Miss Japan), would still be holding onto her crown.
Zetterson on July 14, 2008 at 11:05 AM
These chicks need to sandpaper the soles of their stilettos!!
PattyJ on July 14, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Um, her implants caused her to lose her balance?
Sorry. It’s unfortunate that she fell.

Ms. South Africa was gorgeous. I thought she had the best body – very lean and curvy. Her strut in the bathing suit competition was – bar-none – the hottest! But curves were not “in” this year, as evidenced by these rail-thin beauties.
I thought Ms. Mexico’s interview answer was – by far – the most lucid. And I couldn’t take my eyes off her evening gown.
Russia had a horse face.
Poor Ms. USA – she’s beautiful and she handled her tumble as well as possible (she almost wiped out a second time, and you could see the shock on her face.).
Redhead Infidel on July 14, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Hey, anybody been following what happened to former Miss Florida, Julie Donaldson? She’s same Donaldson’s daughter and her “Slam Ball” boyfriend played Slam Ball with her face up here in Boston.
Boyfriend accused of beating reporter is held without bail
Reporter’s beau back in jail
Three assaults alleged
Search the Herald (second link) for her name.
TheBigOldDog on July 14, 2008 at 11:26 AM
Try that two years from now and someone from AmeriCorps will hunt yo azz down for using “gyp” as a pejorative, Sir.
SlimyBill on July 14, 2008 at 11:30 AM
You sure can tell its trendy to be dark haired.
Could only find a few blonds in the whole bunch.

That’s Miss Lesbo, same sex marriages are not allowed on Lesbos.

Welcome back AP and thanks for the morning palate cleanser.
Canadian Infidel on July 14, 2008 at 11:54 AM
Wow, I thought she exhibited more grace, poise and character in her recovery than anything else.

AP making fun of Christians in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Welcome back AP hope you had a sunburn. Just joking.

The funniest part was when she fell on her rear.

Here I though AP spent vacation TiVo’ing clips of the View.

My daughter was in the Miss Texas pageant with Crystal 3 yrs ago and I believe Crystal got first runner up that year and it was on the 5th time she tried she finally won Miss Texas! She was a sweet and beautiful girl as I recall.
It’s easy to make fun of these girls, but they are good, well educated, well rounded (no jokes please) young women. I’m very glad my daughter only wanted to try it and didn’t continue because it is very expensive as well!
Rightwingsparkle on July 14, 2008 at 1:15 PM
Seeing as I have been to Venezuela multiple times I can attest to the women down there. You can get whiplash walking down the street because you’d be turning your head every five seconds.
Pcoop on July 14, 2008 at 1:15 PM
Miss Mexico was cheated. And they might as well just change the name of the pageant to Miss Latin America. I felt kind of sorry for Miss Russia, who’s no slouch but really couldn’t compete with the other final four contestants (all of whom hailed from Central or South America).
Now this was a beauty pagent worth watching. Unlike the 2008 US presidential election with its 18 month parade of horribles just to get us to the final two, neither of whom is really pretty enough for the crown. Although I do think Barack would beat McCain in the evening gown segment. Just because he’s taller you know.
Bennett on July 14, 2008 at 1:31 PM
I don’t think any of the comments are ill-intended. If you are going to compete on how you look, whether that be just your face, or with your body in a swimsuit and/or evening gown, then you should expect to be judged that way. I haven’t watched the Miss Universe pageant in a long time, but as I recall the Miss USA pageant, from where we get our Miss Universe contestant, does not include a talent competition, some evidence of actual accomplishment.
Over the years, we have all seen plenty of examples of bad and stupid from beauty pageant contestants as well smart and good.
Having said this, you (rightwingsparkle) are certainly very lovely and intelligent and I’m sure your daughter is as well. I used to check out your blog sometimes from the Cotillion website (not sure if that is still up).
BigD on July 14, 2008 at 1:43 PM
We happened to stumble upon the broadcast last night. My entire family watched and not only were we dumbfounded that Russia made it on the stage with the other 4, but we were also surprised with all of the “manufactured” beauty. Lots of fake boobs, altered noses and chiclet teeth. My husb can spot fake ones a mile away and he was calling them right and left last night. Nothing like a little good family fun to bring everyone closer!
sheesh on July 14, 2008 at 3:04 PM
AP:
Not to be PC or anything, but the word “gypped” is a reference to Gypsies, just like “Welshed” is a reference to people from Wales of the same derogatory meaning, and “Jewed me down” is also equally derogatory.

Miss Universe is still on?
It’s a shame the rules don’t call for “natural” beauty.
Zorro on July 14, 2008 at 7:54 PM
la colombiana es muy linda, pero…
miss USA is hot, hot, HOT! i can-not-WAIT to be back in the U.S.!
it won’t be long now… :-)
homesickamerican on July 15, 2008 at 1:18 AM
I like how they put them next to each other on the stage. Catfight!
Russia’s gown or whatever you call it looked somewhat more ‘plain’ than the other four (Dominican Repub for the win on that one), but on.. er.. ‘closer inspection’, she certainly had the right figure to carry such a dress.
I also liked how well USA carried herself. Fall down, get right back up, and get the crowed behind you. Fall, what fall? Never happened!
