Oops, I meant to say the 4%, but the 1% slice is still as inflated as the 4% slice. In a story about wrong perceptions, one might think it important to portray things accurately. Inflating the 4% slice looks like them trying to make it look like transport is more of a contributor than it really is.

Don't go for the nefarious when a benign explanation will do.

It's very likely that they made both of those bigger simply to point out how small they are. Anyone with half a brain can see what the numbers are, and the Mother Earth slice is freakin' huge. And the two slices aren't any bigger, they're just standing out further in the graph, likely to highlight their small size.

If anyone hasn't before decided to do it. Please google (if they don't block those sites now) Oil Producers, Exploration and Oil Services.

They are ALL vastly different.

Exploration companies have my hats off to them, due to the BS they have to skirt around (permits, leases, unitization, bonds, etc.) as well as the fact if they do or do not have a partner and hit a dry hole, it is sad to watch grown men and women cry.

Canada and Mexico are America’s biggest oil suppliers.

Their stuff comes to us from pipelines, not tankers.

Nice try.

Mexican oil comes to the US in Tankers from the southern Bay of Campeche, it is not piped. Nice try, Alphie.

One might mumble about the oil-man's paraphrase of the fisherman's "the one that got away."

We should capture that seepage rather than let it pollute. And what better way than drilling and taking some of the
pressure off it?

Your "exact" timeline is a bit short, according to this link (www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_casualties.htm). Looks like at least a year of fairly steady declines to me.
And what do Fannie & Freddie have to do with Iraqi casualties? Are we giving subprime loans to Iraqis now? Or what's your point?

Oh yeah, you don't have one as usual....

This is great stuff. McCain needs to pick up with this baby and run with it.

Buy Danish on July 14, 2008 at 6:27 PM

Senator McCain is stuck in a tar pit of his own making: it is called 'global warming' and 'climate change'. Its adherents believe that burning fossil fuel to produce electrical energy and run engines will produce so much 'greenhouse gas' that the whole world's climate will heat up, with catastrophic results.

Never mind that this hypothesis (for that's all it is) has long been disproved. Never mind that if the Earth did warm up a little, the results would be beneficial. Never mind that CO2 is such a minor 'greenhouse gas' that vastly more of it would not have the slightest effect.

No, never mind these facts. Senator McCain thinks he has to pander to the anti-capitalist, anti-growth Left. So he can't advocate the real solution: dig, drill, and burn! We have plenty of fossil fuel, enough for a couple of centuries at least, and using it (along with nuclear energy and new inventions like algae-produced gasoline) we can have cheap, abundant energy for the foreseeable future.

If Senator McCain could take the lead, the American people would follow in a heartbeat. Americans are 'can do' people, not given to negativity and pessimism. But the Senator is stuck in the 'global warming' tarpit, and can only cry pitiably for something called 'energy independence'.

Well, we'll be independent when we start exploiting our own resources, and we can't do that while our wannabe 'leaders' are stuck in a tar pit of junk science, faux environmentalism, and 'can't do' pessimism.

Can somebody pull Senator McCain out of the tarpit, slap him in the face to wake him up, and tell him the truth?

Calm yourself, thuja. It's only three or four states. :)

Further, opening up oil shale and other land-based oil reserves would eliminate risk for shore spills altogether.

Just great. You are managing to make me happy about the upcoming election with this kill and destroy everything attitude. Extracting oil shale is about as evil environmentally as I can imagine. Why not just lob nuclear bombs in the oil shale producing areas before extracting the oil shale--perhaps they would loosen up the soil a little or something?

LOL. Mr. "One Year Is More Accurate" is using the latest three months. Now switch to Fannie and Freddie, so no one can catch you, Mr. Leprachaun.

You are a stitch, alphie.

Three months, to be exact, cs89.

But how long can we afford to bribe every single Iraqi?

Not long after the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts...

The numbers fluctuate month to month, oldn, just like casualty figures from Iraq.

Better to get a full year for accuracy…

You know, those casualty figures from Iraq have been "fluctuating" in a downward direction for quite some time now....

Canada and Mexico are America’s biggest oil suppliers.

Their stuff comes to us from pipelines, not tankers.

Nice try.

Canada may well increase its export to the US but Mexico, # 2, will shrink. In ten years it may not even be self sufficient in oil. Nationalized oil industry at work!

Boy, was this a surprise when I saw the report on Fox.

Of course, BDS will cause people to believe that under this administration, these type of natural occurrences have increased due to the flawed policies of Bush.
