Prior to your posts here, yesterday I had tried to post evidence of McCain’s amnesty efforts. I tried three times, and all three posts were moderated. I can only assume it’s because I included too many links.

So I’ll try again, without so many links and split into two comments. Sorry I can spoon feed it to you.

Really?! He and Grahamnesty set up those parameters?!!

Question: is he taking credit for Duncan Hunter’s Secure Fence Act of 2006 that MANDATED 700 miles of double-layer fence along the southern border? The same fence that Congress gutted in 2007 and which Duncan Hunter reintroduced this year?

Did he really just do that?! Because if he did, then he’s a big fat LIAR and HYPOCRITE. McCain has nothing but scorn for the Secure Fence Act and calls it “the g-dd*mn fence”. In fact, he has made sure it was as dead as dead can be:

Sen. McCain voted in favor of the Manager’s Amendment (SA 4188), offered by Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), to S. 2611, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006. The Manager’s Amendment made many minor changes to S. 2611, none of have significant numeric impacts on the overall bill. However, the Manager’s Amendment included a provision that requires consultation with the government of Mexico concerning the construction of additional fencing and related border security structures along the international border between the United States and Mexico. This would virtually guarantee that the fence along the U.S.-Mexico border would never be completed. The Manager’s Amendment passed by a vote of 56 to 41 to 1 (the 1 denotes a “present” vote).

After that travesty, he went on to vote AGAINST a Republican amendment to remove amnesty from the immigration bill, he voted AGAINST extending the fence, he voted AGAINST more immigration investigators, and he voted FOR Social Security benefits for illegals. On top of that he co-sponsored the abominable DREAM act which rewarded illegal aliens with in-state tuition and amnesty.

And it goes on and on…

McCain wants Open Borders and he does everything legislatively possible to get it.

McCain is correct – his plan is not really amnesty because he requires a $3000 fine BRIBE. His plan is worse – it is a program of rewards and bribes. Soliciting a bribe after the fact is no different that a potential illegal paying a BP agent $3000 to let him slip into our country before the fact.

So, all car fines is a bribe…when you pay your fee for your car registration, it is a bribe. When you leave a tip, it is a bribe, pay a ticket for speeding, it is a bribe.
To you, there is no difference between a bribe and a fee and a fine.

How about a little LAW ENFORCEMENT – which is working just fine in McCain’s home state and 3 others so far.

Insane people think that doing the same thing over and over (rewarding illegal aliens with residency) will have a different result. It will never stop the flood. Insane.

But that is not how that asset (the legal right to live and work in the US) is valued. For every lettuce worker who struggles with the $5000 to get something worth hundreds of thousands of dollars (and the right to be popping out American citizens in the process) we are unable to offer that space to a much more valuable immigrant whom we CHOOSE to invite in. This robs us of one of the most important assets on Earth – the ability to choose from among all. We are one of the only countries that has this ability and for every illegal who pushes his way into our country, we are robbed of that choice – and in future payoff we are talking about tens of trillions of dollars of value.

You can call it lenient if you want. But to call it amnesty is lying.

$5000 for the right to live and work in the US is a total joke. Given that it is payment for the completion of a crime worth far more is, itself, a crime. I just don’t see how anyone can even try to justify this – with anything other than the word ‘amnesty’. I mean, we can all see exactly what it is.

What would you call it if the penalty for trying to steal something worth $200,000 was $5000 and they got to keep the stuff?

When you get the answer to that, throw the “path to citizenship” in (which we haven’t even begun to address) and see how it all looks. If you can find a word other than ‘amnesty’ I’d love to hear it. (And I think we both know that ‘lenient’ isn’t even in the same ballpark).

Later on we can talk about illegals who like to march in the streets (tough to find them, really) holding signs up saying, “We didn’t cross the border. The border crossed us.” Great Americans there. But that’s a whole different part of it. We’re just addressing the striking similarities to ‘amnesty’, here.

Did you parphrase the questions you listed above? I only heard Rosario Marin use the word AWOL during the conference call and it was in a different context than the one above.

It was when she said, “But then he accuses the senator of changing his decisions when he has no moral authority to do that because he was AWOL when all of these discussions were taking place…”

Did the word AWOL come in another answer or question?

Not to mention that the fine was easily waived… All that was required for the wavier was saying that you didn’t have the money to pay.

The worst part though, was the 24 hours that the government had to do the background check and if it took longer, the approval was automatic.

I have a ‘green carded’ friend that has been trying to get her citizenship for 19 years…. She has jumped through all the hoops several times, but the immigration officials keep ‘losing her paperwork’. If they can’t do their job for one person in 19 years, how are they going to process millions of people in one day?

McCain never wanted amnesty–the old bill would’ve punished illegal aliens with a huge fine & a series of bureaucratic hoops to jump through.

A “huge” fine? LOL. What do you think people would pay, legally, to become legal residents of the US, let alone be put on a “path to citizenship”?

The hoops were more for an inefficient beaurocracy to jump through and for the rest of us to get screwed when they fail. Take the number of illegals that amnesty supporters are admitting are here and multiply that by 2 or 3, at least, to get a feel for the number that will be processed and allowed to stay. Then start totalling up the family to come on over and keep them company …

They tried to steal the right to reside in the US. You want to let them legally reside in the US. You are completing their attempted theft. The offering of citizenship to them is just so far beyond amnesty as to boggle the mind.

Absolutely wrong. His plan, not unlike his campaign finance “reform” plan, would have created a loophole allowing illegals to continuously renew their temp visas in order to stay and work. The touchback requirement would have been circumvented with this workaround and the monetary fine would have NEVER been paid since it becomes an issue only after the touchback date. McShame did the same thing with campaign finance creating a smoke and mirror scenario that easily gets around the $2300 per individual to nearly $80,000 per. But, he looks honest and he was in the Vietnam prison so why shouldn’t I believe him, right?
