Aren’t we missing a fundraising report?

posted at 9:19 pm on July 11, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Rumor had it that Barack Obama would release his June fundraising numbers this afternoon.   John McCain released his yesterday. So far this evening, no release of information has come across the wires or at Obama’s website.

Does Team Obama have bad news they want to bury far into a weekend cycle?

Second look at public financing?

Second look at public financing?

Refining his postion on public financing.

A total of 30 million U.S. dollars have been added to Barack Obama’s campaign fund for his bid for the White House, his campaign said on Friday.

WoosterOh on July 11, 2008 at 9:28 PM

Didn’t Politico ?? say something about 33 million?

JiangxiDad on July 11, 2008 at 9:28 PM

I can’t wait for this.

Ummmm,the report,did anyone think about
looking under da bus?

canopfor on July 11, 2008 at 9:31 PM

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that the total haul was just over $30 million — which the paper called “underwhelming.”

The Obama campaign swiftly disputed that account.

“The Wall Street Journal report of our fundraising numbers is way off the mark,” Obama spokesman Dan Pfeiffer said in a statement. “It appears that after 18 months, some in the press still haven’t realized that anyone who is talking about numbers doesn’t know what our numbers are.”

As my Daddy taught me…no news is good news!

AUINSC on July 11, 2008 at 9:33 PM

His supporters may be getting the “my vote doesn’t matter” attitude, but with money. What good can their little contribution do when so much money has pouring in? That may be causing some liberals (the true tightwads) to keep their wallets closed.

But I don’t care how it happens – just that it does.

Grafted on July 11, 2008 at 9:33 PM

It takes a little longer to inscribe that on vellum and illuminate it with gold leaf, don’t you know?

Dear Gawd, please don’t tell me they gave the report to Congressman Jefferson.

At this point, I don’t know what, in the end will more exciting:

1. Clinton vs. Obama for the nomination round one: 2007-2008.

or

2. Clinton vs. Obama for the nomination round two: 2011-2012.

This cycle is over. McCain has won. Obama is yesterday’s news. His stock is now worth as much as Mac’s.

Prediction: McCain by apx. 65 electoral votes.

Hahaha! Right on Chudi..but I disagree. Allah has some wicked snark and we all need that ‘chemo-therapy’ dose in this day and age…I’d rather be ‘pleasantly surprised’ than ‘shocked and disappointed’ on election day. But if it’s really bad news, at least I want to laugh about it…

Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t attacking Allah, just his “gulp” news headlines. I eagerly anticipate his return. Ed has been doing a great job, but things inevitably fall through the cracks. For example, the fox “sexpert” had a column today and there was no link. And her picture even changed to one in which she was actually wearing her glasses. And yet I bet people here missed it all.

This may be posted already…found at google:

Asked if he meant it was more, he said he did. The campaign probably would not issue the June figure until close to the filing deadline of July 20, Gibbs added.

KarmiCommunist on July 11, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Obama’s campaign probably put out the “rumored” $30 mil number themselves in an effort to set up a new threshold they can beat — instead of having to report just how short of their own predictions they fell.

wepeople on July 11, 2008 at 11:53 PM

Obama net fundraising needs an FBI audit, along with the FEC. Read Maureen Dowd’s column about her anonymous caller alleging most of the contributions were from the same card processors in Europe, the Middle East and (gasp) China.

For month, I’ve been saying $200 million in $10-$25 contributions does not pass the smell test. I still think Soros has something to do with providing the funds to the “small” donors, in spite of Dowd’s article.

Obamarx will not divulge his records as legally required
starting from the beginning with his certificate of live birth, progressing into candidacy with financial records. Every day will bring more rebuff to legal requirements from this illegitimate candidate. Again, his consistency is IRRESPONSIBILITY.

+1

Business International Corporation, 1983, first job out of Columbia, Obamarx networked his global contacts in advance. The Clinton’s had China funding them; now Obama has the Chinese government’s flood of financial interests. There was only ONE reason to withdraw from public funding, that was because the internationals are handling him. Soros plays his manager, and Obamarx the sock puppet.
