Video: The Unity of Me

Barack Obama appeared last night at an event specifically staged to help bring unity to the Democratic Party after the bruising primaries.  He needed to reach out to Hillary Clinton supporters, and more importantly, urge his supporters to help Hillary retire her debt.  Somehow, Obama managed to forget this central point to the entire event until after it finished — forcing an encore of sorts:

Mr. Obama opened his remarks at the Grand Hyatt with generous praise for Mrs. Clinton. He said the primary campaign had made him a better candidate and had made the party stronger.

“She was, and is, tough and smart, and she wore me out,” Mr. Obama said with a chuckle.

“Many of you in this room understandably supported her in the primary, not only out of loyalty but because she inspired you,” he said. “The fact that you were as inspired about her campaign as my supporters were about mine is all good.”

At this point, he was supposed to appeal for donations for her debt-relief fund, aides said. He evidently forgot and circled back to do so at the end of his remarks.

In fact, he didn’t just do so at the “end of his remarks”.  He had finished his remarks and Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” had gotten into full swing when he suddenly requested a live microphone again.  Joe Scarborough had the video this morning, after an obsequious introduction (via Primetime Politics):

“As cool and as suave as he is” … well, we have never labored under the delusion that MS-NBC has any journalistic objectivity, but isn’t that kind of fawning just a little embarrassing for NBC?

Obama certainly doesn’t appear to feel the love, at least not for Hillary. At an event designed to bring her and her supporters back into the fold, Obama treats her as an afterthought. Note too the language he uses in his improvised encore: “I know the drill.” He’s doing this as an obligation, and he’s making that very clear. Robert Novak reported that he gave the same impression at a private meeting with major Clinton donors held afterwards, with one participant calling Obama “underwhelming”.

Obama’s remarks to the women of the Congressional Black Caucus were more than just “inartful”, it appears.  They revealed either deep-seated hostility towards the Clinton camp or political incompetence, or both, and last night demonstrated both in equal servings.

Obama is just as arrogant as Bill and Hillary Clinton. He is a rock star and like any rock star, he is going to be extremely selfish and will treat others with contempt. Hence his rage at Rev. Wright for causing him trouble, his comment about people clinging to guns and Bibles, the growing collection of people and principles under the Obama bus, and now these latest remarks. MSNBC and the rest of the MSM are just playing the dutiful roles of groupies. To cap it all off, he’s now going to hold his nomination acceptance speech in a football stadium — just like a rock star would!

I really hope McCain has what it takes to defeat Obama.

madmonkphotog on July 10, 2008 at 9:33 AM

Obama has ducked, spun, and triangulated so much over the past few months he probably has no idea what he is going to say next.
The FISA and Iraq reversals have sent his sheep running in all directions and it is going to get worse when he gets back from Iraq and has to admit to the success there that he voted against.
With his love of gun ownership now, acceptance of the NSA program, keeping troops in Iraq to ensure stability, not talking to Ahmadinejad without preconditions(preperations now),Obama is sounding more and more like President Bush everyday.

Barack W. Bush?
By Victor Davis Hanson
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/printpage/?url=http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/07/barack_w_bush.html

Almost everyone is talking about Barack Obama’s flip-flops, as the Senate’s most liberal member steadily moves to the political center and disowns firebrands like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Father Michael Pfleger.

But less noticed is that Obama is not just deflating John McCain’s efforts to hold him to his long liberal record, but also embracing much of the present agenda of an unpopular President Bush on a wide variety of fronts.

Take social issues. Obama is now a gun-rights advocate. Like Bush, he applauded the Supreme Court’s overturning of a Washington, D.C., ordinance banning the possession of handguns.

The senator, also like Bush, supports the death penalty. He recently objected to the court’s rejection of a state law that allowed for the execution of child rapists.

And although Obama is still pro-choice, he now, like the president, thinks “mental distress” should not justify late-term abortion.

In addition, the new Obama would like to continue — and even expand — Bush’s controversial faith-based initiative program of involving churches in government anti-poverty programs.

In fact, Obama is sounding a lot these days like those red-state, small-town conservatives he once caricatured in his infamous comment about Pennsylvanians who “cling” to such hot-button, but extraneous, social causes.

Vote Obama in 08 for four more years of BUSH.

You really have to laugh at the people that are buying all
of this “Change” Bullsh$t.

The democrats show more and more everyday how right Bush
has been.

He is cool, there is absolutely no denying it. He could kick it with Talib Kweli (and has) as easily as Pope Benedict. I hope that more young people like me realize that this is not the end-all qualification to be President. Lack of charisma and salesmanship are still this adminstration’s hamartia.

Maybe Obama’s is inexperience.

Barry is everything the lefties claim Bush is, and more…

Just think about all the cries of shallowness, inarticulateness, the use of cheap slogans, lack of grasping international relations, lying, nepotism, fraud and scams…

Barry does all of that, and he really does it, not just the strawman about Bush the lefties erect…

He’s the Real Deal, it’s ALL GOOD.

TheBigOldDog on July 10, 2008 at 9:33 AM

That is racist! A-hole is too similar to “blackhole” which is now a racist term.
Out of Dallas, and just yesterday, some county officials interrupted a council member because he used the term “blackhole” to describe a government entity. The man was interrupted by two black leaders who demanded an apology and said the term was offensive to them. I am not joking.
Hopefully the video will be available soon.

Consistency is a virtue…of sorts.

The one “talent” Obama has is his polished teleprompter delivery.

He omitted Hillary.
He neglected Hillary.
He did it on purpose, even if only subconsciously, he meant for it to happen on one level or another. That his WILL triumphed showing how truly ugly he is, is to his credit so far as the undecided voter is concerned. Thanks, bobama, for such a public display, letting us see behind your mask. Now quit mooning Hillary, or you’re apt to let Jesse castrate you during your solo croon. If he doesn’t, she still has specialist friends. Is that another reason why bobama can’t tolerate contracted special forces?

Hillary is banging her head against the wall saying…”How could this goof ball beat me!”
It is unbelievable that this guy is the nominee for President. Absolutely no experience in leadership, a “cute” speaker, the kind of guy that Russia can hardly wait to get their hands on. Like JFK, he will ripped apart, and the worst part is that he will (if he wins) have a majority congress more inept then him.

right2bright on July 10, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Barack is just as sincere in his desire to help Hillery retire her debts as she is in supporting him.

You know, if it weren’t for the fawning MSM, Democrats might actually have to do something productive to get elected.

That’s what gets me this election cycle (and the ‘06 midterms). The Dems have no message, and the fact that they’re about to nominate this vaccuous, narcisistic “rock star” only magnifies that. If it weren’t for the drive-bys (and the fact that the Republicans don’t act like a majority when they have one) these elections would be an absolute cake-walk for the GOP. Without the media drilling into the public’s head how EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL the Republican party is, the Democrats would be an sbsolute joke.

They’re still a joke, but the fact that they may soon have all three branches of Government behind this completely empty suit doesn’t make it very funny.

tarpon on July 10, 2008 at 9:50 AM

Ummmm, a product of our government schools.
Did you ever consider that the reason why they ran out of money is that communism is bad for the people? Maybe their money trees died…bark beetles.
More people then the U.S., more natural resources, we saved them from being destroyed by Germany, brilliant people…yet they “ran” out of money…you see you have to PRODUCE to make money, you have to be EFFICIENT to make money, you have to have INCENTIVES to make money, otherwise you RUN out of money. Marxism and communism has none of these naturally they are all government driven. The incentive is to do what they are told or they end up in jail, they produce what they are told to produce, and efficiency is born out of necessity, and no government is efficient, because basically government is not necessary for creating jobs and opportunities.

Obama’s suffering death by a thousand papercuts at his own tickertape parade. Everyday it’s something new.

I’ve always believed the media on some level wanted him to win only so they could tear him down, cover the fall of a giant and berate America for being racist.

A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.

County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.

Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections “has become a black hole” because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.

Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud “Excuse me!” He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a “white hole.”

That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.

Calling Obama “cool and suave” is no different from MSNBC calling McCain “heroic”, “honorable”, “a real guy”, “genuine”, “maverick”, “straight talker” or “principled” and they do that all the time.

I’m only pointing this out because if adjectives are your measuring stick for fawning and bias MSNBC has Obama and McCain running dead even.

He had a good show about 4 or 5 years ago, then his show began to do blocks of Hollywood and Entertainment gossip. I was wondering to myself - what is up with this?
